IOS and Android Apps - Abandoned?

Hey there. My friends and I were trying to get roll 20 working on our tablets through Chrome on Android without luck, even though what little info we could find suggested it should work.  While looking for info I found that there are (was) apps from IOS and Android so started looking into those. The Android app was last updated in Sept of 2018 and the forum here hasn' had any activity in 3 years. I assume that means they've been abandoned. But why? Has something taken their place? Why have the app stores not been updated to indicate such a thing? What are out best options from his point on? Thank you.

Yes, the current versions are essentially abandoned, but that's because Roll20 is is working on making a new version from scratch. Originally there where plans for have it released sometime Q1-Q2 of 2020, but they've pushed back the first release to later and focused on improving stability, capacity and other things that help the increased amount of new people swarming in. The new mobile app is mentioned in the January & February Community Roundtables(which can be found on youtube and twitch). IIRC the features intended for the first versions of the mobile/table app is dicerolling, access to in-game chats, and compendiums. Character sheet access in the apps are planned for later down the line. Anyway, the general wibe I have for it that it will be meant to start as a companion-app to Roll20, rather than a full mobile version. I think this is also true about the current apps.

As for why it didn't work on mobile...the creator of the game, does s/he have a paid subscription? I can't remember if you have to be Pro or not to host a game on mobile device (like an phone or tablet), but mobile is not supported for free accounts (or at least it wasn't at one point).

Hi, there! Yes, the mobile app is still being worked on-- actively! It will be available for all users, including free ones, as it is now.  Table on Tablet is a plus/pro feature-- that's where you access the Roll20 VTT through your mobile device's web browser, whether you are a GM or player. Hope that clears things up! --Stephanie
So, is voice and video available through Chrome on a tablet now with a paid subscription? Or does it have to wait for this new app? And if the new app is going to be a while yet, somebody might to rip the old apps off the app stores cause the ratings are abysmal. ;-) Thanks for all the info!
This app simple just doesn't Function on Mobile or Tablet Devices. We have tried to get it to load a game on 4 devices all with the same result, stuck at a loading... This is rather disappointing seeing it should be working in some form currently from what I have read.
