Ch 26: The Party Roams more of the City, Travel the Eastern Swampy beach, Blast Crocodiles with a Fireball spell!

Dungeon Master (GM):   Ok, to start things off, you were last sight seeing, having paid 5 bugbears 100 coins to show you around what is know as the Noble's District of the Forbidden City You had sent the Bugbears away, thanking them.   Maevis Silverleaf: I dnt think we need to raid the warehouses   Dungeon Master (GM): Any suggestions for the group on where to go/what to do next?   Balen: Agreed. Not what we came here for. The "off limits" places are  intriguing , but not sure they are worth risking our hides - at least not yet.   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright so no warehouses and skip N2 with the snakes, if we drop the off limits spots that leaves The Guarded Home Temples and Zoo   Balen: Or explore to uncover the rest of the town still under "fog of war".   Dungeon Master (GM): and the park area where the Tasloi was mentioned to live (area G)   Maevis Silverleaf: Do we want to raid the Guarded home?   Phoenix: That the guarded compound?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Maevis Silverleaf: We could but I'm thinking the pickings will be slim in the burbs   Dungeon Master (GM): Bugbear Guards currently walk the walls of that compound You could walk around more of the city, but you might want to watch out for guards now as well! (To GM)rolling d6( 1 ) = 1   Balen: We should have gotten a name of the "tourguide bugbear guard". Oh well.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok we have an encounter happening here! (To GM)rolling d8( 8 ) = 8   Dungeon Master (GM): ha! more Yuan-Ti! (To GM)rolling d100( 90 ) = 90   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d100( 10 ) = 10   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d100( 12 ) = 12   Dungeon Master (GM): Half-Bloods! (To GM)rolling d4( 4 ) = 4   Dungeon Master (GM): 4 half breeds accompanied by: 20 tasloi, 5 bugbears and an giant spider! How does the party react...they are not attacking you but are coming down the avenue you are on from the north   Maevis Silverleaf: Move out of the way   Phoenix: Very inconspicuously turn a corner?   Balen: Ditto. Back against a building on the side of the avenue, so they have plenty of room to pass.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok now to see how they react if at all from just seeing you (To GM)rolling d6( 6 ) = 6   Dungeon Master (GM): hmm, ok they just continue all the way down the avenue until they turn left at the end and out of your sight! now what will the party do?   Balen: Possibly "shift change" at the Compound?   Maevis Silverleaf: Maybe Go back to the compound see if its changed?   Balen: If we weren't attacked as "intruders", if we are non-chalant, that might not be a bad idea   Dungeon Master (GM): it's been a couple hours since you saw the compound directly well, the city knows this: intruders have tried entering the main gate and secret gate and girl abominations were slaughtered as well as some at the amphitheater!   Maevis Silverleaf: Hehe so just act like we belong here and its cool :D   Balen: Have we seen  ANY  other humans, dwarves, etc? (The two running the forge were human that we let go, right?)   Dungeon Master (GM): not yet at least, the last humans so far where in the village of Mantru   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright so just dont leave any survivors to tell them about Humanoids hehe   Dungeon Master (GM): get busy adventure party or the next raiding party you spot may be even larger! Hello Buddy! Glad you could make it!   Buddy D.: been tryign to log on for a hour   Phoenix: Hello o/   Buddy D.: or more   Dungeon Master (GM): wowser buddy   Maevis Silverleaf: So Do we go on a raid or explore the burbs of the city?   Balen: Hmmmm. "Raiding party". Maybe we go back in the direction they were COMING from, to see what may have been their interest? Do we think we are strong enough for a raid? (healed, spells available, etc.)?   Dungeon Master (GM): well the came down the avenue from the a turn at the large intersection to the north of you   Xilicien: Unless we rested since the last battle, I'm low on combat spells.   Dungeon Master (GM): not rested yet and that's another thing, finding a place that will afford you to do just that!   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright so find a spot in an alley and rest?   Balen: An area we have "cleaned out"?   Xilicien: Are we sure resting in an alley is a good idea? "cleaned out" is a safer option.   Maevis Silverleaf: Only place we cleaned out is the museum?   Dungeon Master (GM): I don't think resting in what would be considered a 'crime scene' by the baddies is a good idea!   Phoenix: The art museum was cleared out I think. We could maybe barricade a room?   Buddy D.: lol   Dungeon Master (GM): well, yea you did clear out the shadows yes   Phoenix: What's this? (Red circle)   Dungeon Master (GM): just ruins there Phoenix   Balen: Another option might be hidden in some ruins that aren't being reconstructed yet?   Dungeon Master (GM): all crumbled away   Phoenix: Unless it's completely flattened that might be our best bet.   Balen: Hard to hide a party this big, though   Maevis Silverleaf: Absolute Best option is Leave the city and come back
Dungeon Master (GM): you could do that as well if you wish, though that could be fighting to get back in...with way more guards   Balen: Will we have to bluff our way back in? We  could  go back to Mantru's village   Xilicien: In terms of safety, most likely, but not the necessarily the most practical.   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright so stay here go explore more maybe find a place to rest BRB   Phoenix: Perhaps somewhere over here?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok,and so thus someone needs to move that party token around town!   Phoenix: Intersection it is   Dungeon Master (GM): from that intersection you can continue north as well   Phoenix: Have we traveled east already?   Dungeon Master (GM): only where it's revealed, when chasing after Sheila who ran because of the cause fear spell   Balen: Which way did the "spider parade" come from?   Dungeon Master (GM): east to west down this avenue you are on   Balen: Cool. Thanks   Dungeon Master (GM): you see a pyramid there with a purpulish glow   Maevis Silverleaf: What does S2 Look like?   Dungeon Master (GM): as stated above   Phoenix: Yeah I don't think we're gonna' be resting there.   Dungeon Master (GM): another aztec styled pyramid and you get a bad feeling about the place   Phoenix: South of us is just more ruins I take it?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok hold on south of where you originally were i think i can describe ok it's a partially rebuilt area that looks similar in style to where the female abominations lived   Maevis Silverleaf: Might be a place to rest?   Dungeon Master (GM): to your south is just ruins i think the area to your north is a rebuilt location, lets me check (Maps and stuff disappear from teh game)   Balen: How "high" are the ruins in places? Are we talking NYC after 9/11, or razed flat after a tornado?   Dungeon Master (GM): More like razed flat tornado style. yea looks like another map is gone, still checking yea, see i'm pretty sure i made that area a bath house area, the bldg with the dome but i don't see the map anymore the description is still there but no more map it was going to be like in Zatoichi there!   Maevis Silverleaf: Do you have the map and info on the partially rebuilt place?   Dungeon Master (GM): you see mongrelmen guards around the purple pyramid area I have the info and the tokens that were in the bathhouse but no map anymore, if I find it on my computer I'll put it in for next week.   Maevis Silverleaf: Staying away for now going back to that partially rebuilt place   Dungeon Master (GM): as mentioned it is similar in style to the abomination abode   Maevis Silverleaf: Care to check it out party?   Xilicien: I suppose.   Balen: sure   Phoenix: Yeah   Buddy D.: yeah   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d6( 4 ) = 4   Dungeon Master (GM): no windows visible to look into   Maevis Silverleaf: We got check out the partially rebuilt abode door locked?   Dungeon Master (GM): the map is still there so hold on! ok you all do see the new map???   Phoenix: Yep   Balen: A street? Yes   Dungeon Master (GM): ok good   Maevis Silverleaf: a street yes   Xilicien: I may lose internet in a moment.   Dungeon Master (GM): no doors are visible from that part of the street you are on currently oh dear   Maevis Silverleaf: start walking around it   Dungeon Master (GM): move at least one token to see where you go are you going to go down the street there?   Maevis Silverleaf: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): you see two sets of double doors i'm going to change something about windows with this town...the default is that there are 1st story windows / openings but they are 8 feet up and only 1.5 ft wide   Maevis Silverleaf: 1.5 story hehe   Dungeon Master (GM): they need a way for daylight to get in somehow with a little bit of a defensive nature ok so maevis is at the doors there what will he do?   Maevis Silverleaf: try knocking first   Dungeon Master (GM): no answer   Phoenix: Ever the gentleman, eh? Balen The Human Bard Says, "I gotta say, I love Maevis' politeness!"   Maevis Silverleaf: door unlocked?   Dungeon Master (GM): trying to open it?   Maevis Silverleaf: yes
Dungeon Master (GM): ok it opens slightly   Maevis Silverleaf: blocked?   Dungeon Master (GM): appears not to be blocked   Maevis Silverleaf: Open i and look in   Dungeon Master (GM): looks to be a kitchen with to cooking pits with chimney's above them and several tables of utensils and foods stuff out as if a meal was just recently prepared   Maevis Silverleaf: Walk inside leaving door open   Cassandra The Human Witch Says, "Well we're not resting here it seems."   Dungeon Master (GM): the cooking pits still have fires going Ok   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Well, if it's EMPTY, could we not barricade ourselves in for a bit? Just a thought"   Maevis Silverleaf: waves the party in   Dungeon Master (GM): there are doors on the east wall and south wall here will the rest of the party enter? rolling d6( 3 ) = 3   Phoenix: Don't see why not, after you guys.   Dungeon Master (GM): phicenta is missing ok so far no one has entered the kitchen from the other doors so what do you do while in the kitchen?   Maevis Silverleaf: What does the food look like?   Buddy D.: she was just heere i moved here myself   Dungeon Master (GM): give me a wisdom check on that she disappeared on my end then after i put the new token down there was the original one someone give me a wisdom check on the food   Maevis Silverleaf: rolling 1d20( 18 ) = 18 Balen The Human Bard Says, "What say we move some of these tables in front of the doors??"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you believe you see crocodile meat from the remains on a table an what looked like was once a small dinosaur   Buddy D.: great meat   Maevis Silverleaf: Move the tables and furniture in front of the doors BRB   Dungeon Master (GM): ok the party sets to moving tables in front of both doors (To GM)rolling d6( 5 ) = 5   Dungeon Master (GM): and do so without anyone trying to open them   Balen: That would be  my  recommendation. Others?   Dungeon Master (GM): looks like they are all fine with it so it is done and no one tries to enter while you set that up. However, about 1/2 hour later Balen The Human Bard Says, "Chow time? Shhhhhhh!"   Dungeon Master (GM): there is an attempt on the east door to open it along with a shout out in Yuan-ti that no one understands! what is the party doing now?   Maevis Silverleaf: Weapons ready and waiting   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Balen: Pushing against table against door   Dungeon Master (GM): so thus, you watch as two yuan-ti purebloods are gradually slamming the door open as the table in front of it gets pushed farther back from the door each time. Balen The Human Bard Says, "Ummm, you WANT me to let them in?"   Dungeon Master (GM): oh ok this will hinder that from happening   Cassandra The Human Witch Says, "We'll we're made no matter what" Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul The Human Warlock Says, "yall can go suck a dill pickle"   Dungeon Master (GM): now it is being attempted on the south door, whom is trying to hold that table against the door? Balen The Human Bard Says, "Then get ready. On THREE. One...Two... Three"   Dungeon Master (GM): and the doors you came in the kitchen to as well!   Balen The Human Bard jumps back from the door, pulling table with him, and ducks down behind/under it Cassandra The Human Witch Says, "Best option might be to cut our losses and run into the street"   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Too late their outside already"   Dungeon Master (GM): for those against the tables trying to hold them i need your combined strength totals at each of the 3 doors please is it just balen and maevis at the other two doors? well?   Maevis Silverleaf: Who has Grax?
Dungeon Master (GM): at the south door they can't hold them back as they inch the door farther away with each push   Balen: Balen's STR is 15   Dungeon Master (GM): that's Ed but he's not here tonight so some one else can take him balen gets knocked flat on his ass   Balen The Human Bard Figures!   Phoenix: Grax is STR 16 Maevis is STR 9   Dungeon Master (GM): ok however the west door can't be held shut either as the stronger yuan-ti gets all 3 doors open! what do you do here, fight or talk???   Phoenix: Coal and Phicenta are 15 and 14 respectively   Maevis Silverleaf: Try talking   Dungeon Master (GM): ok but still not enough to hold them back   Grax Ironcloak The Shield Dwarf Fighter / Thief Says, "Smile and wave lads, smile and wave..."   Yuan-Ti Half-Blood #16-20 -MKT2 The Yuan-Ti Half-Blood Says, "What is the meaning of this?!"   Yuan-Ti Half-Blood #01-05 -MKT2 The Yuan-Ti Half-Blood Says, "Is this some kind of prank?! Speak up fools!"     Phoenix: Security inspection...?   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "We thought this place was empty, Can you tell us of some place where we can find shelter for the night?"   Yuan-Ti Half-Blood #01-05 -MKT2 The Yuan-Ti Half-Blood Says, "So you though it fitting to just waltz right in and enjoy the food?"   Xilicien: We neither waltzed nor ate.     Yuan-Ti Half-Blood #01-05 -MKT2 The Yuan-Ti Half-Blood Says, "This is not an Inn, hell the city doesn't even have one built yet."   Xilicien: Well, that would be the problem there.   Yuan-Ti Half-Blood #01-05 -MKT2 The Yuan-Ti Half-Blood Says, "Well, you all are going to have to leave."   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Not admitting blame or fault "We will leave now and seek another place to stay"   Yuan-Ti Half-Blood #11-15 -MKT2 The Yuan-Ti Half-Blood Says, "Wise choice my friend, very wise."   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul The Human Warlock Says, "i was joking about the pickle"   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul The Human Warlock Says, "lol"   Balen The Human Bard "crab walks" backward without trying to get up until he has put some distance between him and the Half-bloods, heads to the west door to leave with the party   Phoenix: lmao   Dungeon Master (GM): ok the party exits as the half-bloods stand aside to make sure you all leave ok back to the city map   Maevis Silverleaf: "So we dont have an Inn, so next idea, pick some ruins and make camp"   Dungeon Master (GM): someone move the token where you would like to go next   Maevis Silverleaf: Whats that East? swamp?   Balen: What's all the way to the east? Trails through vegetation?   Dungeon Master (GM): the dots are stones set into the swampy ground to form a pathway through a swamp   Maevis Silverleaf: Take the path might find a better place   Dungeon Master (GM): (To GM)rolling d20( 11 ) = 11   Balen: "Anyone still need a pair of alligator boots?"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so move along the swamp path and i'll tell you to stop if an encounter occurs (To GM)rolling d6( 1 ) = 1   Dungeon Master (GM): and at that point something comes up the party! crocodiles! checking on how many   Maevis Silverleaf: Suitcases, bags and boots   Phoenix: Ooo, fancy   Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul The Human Warlock Says, "where the hell is the crocidile hunter"
Dungeon Master (GM): ok roll initiatives, I also need someone to give me a wisdom check   WEAPON INITIATIVE ROLL: Maevis Silverleaf the Half Elf Bard, gets ready to make an attack move! Weapon INIT Roll:  2 Rest of Initiative rolls deleted for space WISDOM CHECK For Cassandra the Witch Rolls:  20  Needs ≤  14     Dungeon Master (GM): ok Cassandra didn't notice anything out of the ordinary anyone else with a wisdom check?   WISDOM CHECK For Xilicien the Magic-User   Rolls:  12  Needs ≤  13   WISDOM CHECK For Grax Ironcloak the Fighter / Thief   Rolls:  2  Needs ≤  11     WISDOM CHECK For Balen the Bard   Rolls:  17  Needs ≤  6   WISDOM CHECK For Maevis Silverleaf the Bard Rolls:  15  Needs ≤  9   WISDOM CHECK For Balen the Bard   Rolls:  16  Needs ≤  6   Dungeon Master (GM): Balen didn't notice anything either   Maevis Silverleaf: Grax maybe   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Well, if nothing else, when we finish here, we could carry this meat back as the caterers for the half-bloods??"   WISDOM CHECK For Phicenta Thragiella De Thrul the Warlock Rolls:  9  Needs ≤  6     Dungeon Master (GM): Xilicien and Grax, swears that they momentarily saw what looked like a giant snake skim the surface of the lake off the swampy beach then quickly dive below.     Start of Round 1 Start of Turn 1 for Phicenta (7)   Phicenta the Champion Warlock, using a tiny ball composed of bat guano and sulphur, cast the FIREBALL Spell! Pointing his/her finger at Crocodile #02 -A2, and speaking the range (distance and height) at which the fireball is to burst. Level 3 Magic-User * Evocation Components V,S,M Casting Time 3  Segments Range 100ft + 10ft/level:  170 ft Indoors or yards outdoors Duration Instantaneous Area of Effect 20 ft radius /  40 ft diameter sphere Saving Throw Vs Spells for Half Damage:   21  Hit Points of Damage! Effects:  A streak flashes from the pointing digit and, unless it impacts upon a material body prior to attaining the prescribed range, flowers into an explosive burst of flame, which detonates with a low roar!! The burst of the fireball does not expend a considerable amount of pressure, and the burst will generally conform to the shape of the area in which it occurs, thus covering an area equal to its normal spherical volume. [The area which is covered by the fireball is a total volume of 33,510 cubic feet (or yards) (33.5, 10-foot × 10-foot × 10-foot cubes)]. Besides causing damage to creatures, the fireball ignites all combustible materials within its burst radius, and the heat of the fireball will melt soft metals such as gold, copper, silver, etc. Items exposed to the spell’s effects must be rolled for to determine if they are affected. Items with a creature which makes its saving throw are considered as unaffected.   Dungeon Master (GM): heh ok   SAVE VS. SPELL For Crocodile #01 -A2 the Crocodile   Rolls:  12  Needs ≥  16   SAVE VS. SPELL For Crocodile #02 -A2 the Crocodile   Rolls:  6  Needs ≥  16   (To GM): SAVE VS. Dungeon Master (GM): ok all of them took 21 damage and are just laying there in flames now!   It seems that Crocodile #01 -A2 is defeated! It seems that Crocodile #02 -A2 is defeated! It seems that Crocodile #03 -A2 is defeated! It seems that Crocodile #04 -A2 is defeated!   Balen The Human Bard Says, "Caterers who bring pre-cooked meat????"   Dungeon Master (GM): doing anything with the crocs?   Devin M.: I should call it a night at this point. Bye & goodnight.   Cassandra The Human Witch Says, "Best kind of meat right there. Zero effort to cook it yourself." Good night o/   Maevis Silverleaf: G night   Dungeon Master (GM): bye!   Balen: good night. sleep tight, not gonna let the crocodiles bite!   Dungeon Master (GM): ok will the remainder continue up the stoney path?   Balen: Who has the bag of holding? I wasn't kidding, be might get some "goodwill" if we "apologize" by bringing back the cooked meat?   Maevis Silverleaf: carve the meat up for later   Dungeon Master (GM): ok then did Maevis see the blurb on what he saw?   Buddy D.: brb   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Maevis Silverleaf: "Theres a big snake out there, guess we go back into town"   Dungeon Master (GM): unless you wish to go up the path...it doesn't seem to go towards the lake (which surrounds the island in this case), this area is like in inlet surrounded by swallow swampland   Balen: Works for me. Don't need one drooling over broiled croc coming after us!   Dungeon Master (GM): Shallow swampland that is!   Maevis Silverleaf: ah well in that case lets keep going hehe   Dungeon Master (GM): someone please move token! the south part does go along the lake but not the north   Balen: Can we see across the lake? That "splotch" to the NE of the lake, can we tell what it is? Something out of the ordinary from the rest of the water?   Dungeon Master (GM): up ahead you see a large mound surrounded by a spiked wooden barricade all around it with a lone tower on top of the mound and at least one frogman in the tower   Phoenix: Kind of looks like a giant frog   Dungeon Master (GM): I see what you mean there   Maevis Silverleaf: Maybe approach the tower?   Dungeon Master (GM): you see not gate from this side   Maevis Silverleaf: go around then Whats S3?   Dungeon Master (GM): still no visible gate on the mound's west side   Balen: BRB   Dungeon Master (GM): s3 looks like a partially ruined temple structure did you cross through the swamp or back onto the road to get to the new path?   Maevis Silverleaf: path road path   Dungeon Master (GM): ok was trying to see how to show the path you took but i don't know the key combo ok you see no visible gate on the north west side of the mound as well even though the path goes right up the the spiked barricade up ahead to the west you see a graveyard, do you wish to see it's map?   Maevis Silverleaf: sure   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Maevis Silverleaf: Safe place to stay for the night :)   Balen: Dunno - folks be dying to get in there!   Maevis Silverleaf: That makes it safe for us   Dungeon Master (GM): ok in addition to the graveyard you see a small chapel buidling checking on anymore description for this ok pretty much it is as you see   Phoenix: What's the swirling pool?   Dungeon Master (GM): you can backtrack to see the ruined temple map if you wish as well, may as well looks to be an empty well   Maevis Silverleaf: Do we see any symbols in or on the chapel?   Balen: Again, if the chapel is empty, barricading ourselves in for the night makes sense.   Dungeon Master (GM): I'll say there is one the party has not seen before   Phoenix: Is the well big enough for Cass' to slowly fly down?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok who wishes to check on the chapel?   Maevis Silverleaf: Maevis will will also look at Shiela as he does, any kind of vibes from it?   Dungeon Master (GM): Sheila, does feel a sense of dread here   Phoenix: Grax and Cass' will go with them to check out the chapel. Whole party may as well go honestly.   Dungeon Master (GM): whom checks and or opens the chapel door?   Maevis Silverleaf: Bad mojo camp outside Maevis will open the door   Balen: Can Balen attempt a "legend lore" check on the "new" symbol?
Dungeon Master (GM): and he sees an altar with rows of pews inside you could yes   Balen: Legend, Lore & Item Knowledge percentage: 20% at level 7 - Scrutiny of Item: 1d10 rounds - Roll 3d6 to determine information gained   Maevis Silverleaf: any obvious signs like bloodstains?   Balen: What do you need/want me to roll?   Dungeon Master (GM): no bloodstains to be seen i guess the D100   Balen: rolling d100( 65 ) = 65   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so he has no clue what the symbol represents   Balen: Or did you mean d10? Ok. good enough   Dungeon Master (GM): well 2D10's one at at time, would do as well 1st roll would be 10's 2nd would be ones   Maevis Silverleaf: Maevis walks inside any other doors?   Dungeon Master (GM): no just the front doors only so the party will try to rest in the chapel?   Maevis Silverleaf: Ok Safe enough if we dont mind he bad mojo   Balen: Rest and spells more important than the heebee jeebies!   Phoenix: Can we check out the well while resting?   Balen: And this might be a good place to call it a night for me too   Dungeon Master (GM): ok and yes, a good place to stop for the night it is! Thanks to you all for Playing Tonight! Have a great Week ahead!   Balen: Same to you all. Stay safe. Wash those hands. :)   Dungeon Master (GM): Now i go get me a slice of home baked apple pie for dessert!   Phoenix: Good night y'all, have a great week!   Maevis Silverleaf: We can check the well next week   Dungeon Master (GM): sure   Maevis Silverleaf: g night all
