First off WOW this site is AMAZING! GJ GUYS!...this is your hobby? I couldn't tell! Seems to me like most of the benefits of being a subscriber is geared toward game-masters... maybe a couple benefits for just true players is needed Also why do i have to subscribe, money is hard to come by and trust me you know this. I got a new job with many obligations IRL just like many others... that being said i would LOVE to support you guys even with no added benefits and i doubt I'm the only one! That being said please add a DONATIONS area....heck if you wanna do something for just people that donate $1-Infinity that would be even better but not needed. I am so very appreciative about what you supply us with id be glad to DONATE to you whenever my budget allows I really hope someone from your team reads this and takes into consideration and i hope the players that use this site would be also TY EVERYONE FROM THE TEAM!

Nowadays, this is more than just a side project for the Developers. They've all quit their day jobs and run Roll20 full time now. As a player, best way to contribute to the site if you feel so inclined is to gift your GM a subscription. That way your whole gaming group benefits to play with all the great bell and whistle features.

My GM already subscribes, if i gifted his subscription that just means he pays less and the site gets the same amount, and lets just be honest here... the true numbers are more players then GM's ... its just the way it is. I'm just trying to help the site grow there is no criticism here just a suggestion.
You could look at other DM's that run games and gift anonymously to strangers. I didn't start being a monthly supporter until a player gifted me with a couple months, now I am a monthly supporter myself. So I guess you could go to the looking for groups listings and see a game you think sounds interesting and a GM that is not a supporter or mentor, gift him 5 dollars for a month of supporter. You help roll20, that GM gets a free month to try out the added benefits and might continue on his own. Next time you feel like donating repeat with a different stranger. I think this should work the way things are set up now.
What John R. said. That way you get almost exactly what you wanted (a way to donate money to Roll20 without getting something for yourself) with the exception that you can't choose a number between 0,01 and infinity you need to donate a whole months worth at a time. But you would also get a *bonus*. You wouldn't only be donating to Roll20 but for a person as well so it ends up being better for the same amount of money.

I have also looked for a way to Donate (to send them free money), and for a while it was a bummer that I couldn't find a way to give Roll20 money without becoming a subscriber. Then I found what Kristin said, you can donate money to your DM. It extends the duration of their subscription, so even if your GM is already a subscriber, it still works. You could pay for 1 month, or 12 months, whatever you want to donate to Roll20, you can give it to your GM's account and all the money goes to Roll20 (not to the GM personally, though I get your point that it saves your GM money they would have spent). Next I found what John R. said --- you can actually give donations to Roll20 by giving the gift to other GM's (not just your usual GM), if your personal GM doesn't need the benefit for some reason, or has already paid for long-enough subscription duration themselves. One more big point (if you are into this kind of thing): You get an Achievement Icon on your Roll20 Profile, when you give the gift to a GM for your first time. The icon is a little bag of gold, and looks pretty cool; you can see it on my profile if you click my name. For this reason alone, try sending $5 or $10 to any GM, and you will be giving money to Roll20 and getting a new icon on your profile.
Another good idea would be to set up a way to send some cash to the marketplace, electronic gift certificates for modules, tokens... Contribute to the artists, roll20 and your hard working GM! The guys who made this site should be able to set this up in thirty seconds.
I love Roll20, and the people who run it have a real passion. But let's be real here. Roll20 Is a business, and it is in the business of making money. I'm sure they have all the money stuff figured out, and considering the numbers of users they are rocking, i doubt they have issues paying the bills. One mentor is 120 bucks a year. That adds up when you have half a million users, even if most people aren't paying. It's a network effect business ... build a great free platform with tons of users, and some small percentage will buy in to support the rest for power-user features. (the power users also extend the product with api scripts and sheet designs, which probably saves them a bit of money and increases engagement). I do like the marketplace donation idea. Saying pay for a subscription is a harder sell than saying 'lets get 10 bucks a week together and buy some artwork every week, so by the end we have an awesome library of stuff we can use'. I could set up a 10 dollars a week rule quite easily, and would be much more inclined to buy alot more stuff.

Bryan W. said: One mentor is 120 bucks a year. That is pay per month but if you pay a year in advance it is 99.99 which is a savings of about 20 bucks (you could then use that savings for marketplace purchases). They also make a percentage off of each sale in the Marketplace, and from my perspective as a seller on the Marketplace, their business must be booming.
