Custom builds

Hi All, I am DMing some friends and am new to roll20, and pretty new to D and D. One of my characters wants ot make an arcane trickster but it is not a support subclass in the 5e by Roll20. I understand that I should just do a custom build but I am a bit intimidated by the attributes and abilities page. Can someone help with this? Thanks Emmet

You shouldn't do this in the "attributes and abilities"-page, but the actual character sheet. When you create a character in the charactermancer, select "custom" as your subclass, and then type in manually the info needed, and so on. Of you don't use the Chractermancer, you can just add manually the class features and spells manually. See the 5E by Roll20 guide to the character sheet. And arcane trickster would be available for you to select if you'd own the PHB in Roll20.

Oh....ok. So I think I managed things in the custom section, thanks. So, if I buy the book with the relevant class sub/type, then I can use them? That's a bit frustrating since I have these books in the real world. But they gotta make their money somewhere. Thanks for you time and help!

The purchase of something like the PHB is not necessary for you to do or make any class or race. It only makes it easier and more automatic. You can fill out whatever you want, however you want. I originally started on Roll20 without anything other than the SRD, and input stuff manually.
