"Long-Term Madness" token action shows, but never created

Madness Long-Term The character becomes attached to a “lucky charm,” such as a person or an object, and has disadvantage on attack rolls, ability checks, and saving throws while more than 30 feet from it. This lasts for 70 hours. For more information, see Long-Term Madness . Appears in the token action bar, but this was never created. It is attached to every NPC that I have built other macros for: sword, initiative, spells, etc. It is not located in the Collections or in the individual macro section of the character sheet. FYI: I was added as a DM later by our DM so that I could add macros to speed up combat. Works great, but on HIS screen he sees "Madness" macro, but I don't seen this on MY screen. Thoughts?
It has to come from somewhere . Does your DM see this token action only when he selects tokens linked to NPCs you built and added macro's to? Or does it show up for any token he selects? Regardless, it might help to untick ALL "Show as Token Action" check marks for all abilities and macro's, until nothing remains. Then you only reactivate the ones you do want to keep.
He does not create any macros. He added me as an additional DM only so that I can create macros for the NPC monsters. We can try unticking all the Token Action and reconnect one at a time. I agree with you... it has to come from somewhere: but only appears in the NPC's I've added macros to: goblin, goblin boss, orc, troll, bugbear etc. It does not appear on NPC's that I have not tampered with. But remember: we can both be on the same screen, both click on the same NPC: he will see the Madness, I will not.

My first thought is that it has to be on the GMs macro list. He may simply not realise it. It seems to be behaving like a macro he has created, but has not made Visible to other players. To be specific, a macro in his Collections tab, not one on the Attributes and Abilities section of a sheet. But its very weird that it only appears on macros you have edited. I'm interested to hear what the issue is when its finally resolved. Could the GM be messing with you, and telling you its only appearing on characters you have edited, but its actually on all characters (or doesnt exist...)? I agree you should uncheck every token action. But there's a more permanent way to check this: Copy a character, drag their token out, and then, one by one, delete their abilities. After you delete each one, get the GM to click the token again, and see if the Madness token action has disappeared. If you delete all of them and its still there, you have confirmed its nothing to do with the character sheet. If it vanishes when one of them is deleted, you know which one is the cause.
I spoke to the original GM. The "Madness" token action appears for ALL NPC's and ALL PC's on his screen. But this didn't start until I created simple macros for the NPC's. Something is happening globally... on his end only.

Most likely he thinks its something you did, because it started around the same time, but that cant be the case. It has to be something he's done and just has forgotten or hasnt realised it.
Ok, cool. He says that could be the case. Any where specific that we should look for global token actions? Another thing: if he has made the change, why can't I see his macro? It is still a Token Action, not a Collection's Macro/

You can turn any collections macro into a token action. When you open the macro, at the bottom of the edit form is Show as Token Action. If the GM turns a macro into a token action, it'll show up on all tokens for him, and him alone. If the GM then changes the macros visibility settings to "All Players" it'll show up for everyone. You have to scroll down to see this setting. So my guess is he has a macro that is set as a token action, but its visibility hasnt been set, so it just shows up for him.
Thank you so much for spending all this time assisting me and my group. Very patient of you.
