The Maiden, The Mother, The Crone Elias raised his countenance from the bowl, a frantic look in his eye. “This cannot be. No no, not yet,” he forced through clenched teeth. The sweat had begun to bead upon his brow and the telltale tightness had spread throughout his chest. He gazed at the cage in the corner intently, seemingly lost to the urgency of the current situation. Just as quickly, his eyes regained focus and he muttered, “Just this last time, old boy, one last time.” Opening the small wooden cage, Elias removed a small mongoose. He stroked the wiry frame gently and slipped a small piece of parchment into the battered enclosure resting tightly around Hovind’s neck. This was not the first time the creature had delivered news from the Scryer but never had so much ridden on his experience. Elias began to whisper into Hovind’s ear and then set him on the unkept floor. Almost instinctively, the creature made for the hole in the floor and was gone. “One last time…” Elias muttered to no one. Closing his eyes, he began to massage the pain in his arm. Hovind was in his element. The wind was at his back and the night spoke volumes of information to a willing ear. The forest symphony beckoned him to play, to dance, to feast. He blocked it out. No time to stop. He had a message for the Crone. Fun trumps rules* Rules are meant as a guideline, not a shackle. The goal is fun. *Reasoning IT IS THE SPIRIT OF THE GAME, NOT THE LETTER OF THE RULES, WHICH IS IMPORTANT. NEVER HOLD TO THE LETTER WRITTEN, NOR ALLOW SOME BARRACKS ROOM LAWYER TO FORCE QUOTATIONS FROM THE RULE BOOK UPON YOU, IF IT GOES AGAINST THE OBVIOUS INTENT OF THE GAME. AS YOU HEW THE LINE WITH RESPECT TO CONFORMITY TO MAJOR SYSTEMS AND UNIFORMITY OF PLAY IN GENERAL, ALSO BE CERTAIN THE GAME IS MASTERED BY YOU AND NOT BY YOUR PLAYERS. WITHIN THE BROAD PARAMETERS GIVEN IN THE ADVANCED DUNGEONS 8 DRAGONS VOLUMES, YOU ARE CREATOR AND FINAL ARBITER. BY ORDERING THINGS AS THEY SHOULD BE, THE GAME AS A WHOLE FIRST, YOUR CAMPAIGN NEXT, AND YOUR PARTICIPANTS THEREAFTER, YOU WILL BE PLAYING ADVANCED DUNGEONS 8 DRAGONS AS IT WAS MEANT TO BE. MAY YOU FIND AS MUCH PLEASURE IN SO DOING AS THE REST OF US DO! -Gary Gygax 1st Edition Dungeon Master's Guide / Afterward
I am willing to change my character to stay in. When I said I wasn't willing to change some things I meant that I knew that my character wouldn't mold perfectly into the game. Not that I wasn't willing to play if these things weren't allowed. please send me another invite what you have seen is the furthest I can reach in your campaign.
Hi, I'd be interested to join, please send me a message to tell me how to procede. A bit aboot me: I'm 23 years old, I have 8 years of experience on 5e, roll20 and customs systems, I am very compliant and Talkable aboot any issues, I may a bit shy at first but it doesn't stick for long, I can play any role, and I can let people have their spotlight. hope to hear from you soon!
Hey Tom. I’m a 50y/o who is looking to get back into the game after quite a while. I’d love to join a new group. I love the role play and the combat in equal measure. Tuesday’s are best for me. Thanks.
Hey guys I just got kicked out because the DM thought I wasn't willing to play without certain character features so lets see what the DM says

Logan: Your reply to me in your character sheet was to paraphrase "no, my character definitely was as I told in my backstory and not what you changed it to." In other words, you wanted to add evil crusades in the name of good entities and that is not compatible. When I changed that you told me no. This is the message I sent you. The edit is reflective of seeing your note in the character sheet---- I have your character sheet tidy and I looked over your back story and made a changes to reflect the game world. There is no conflict between messengers of good and the plane of Ktisis. So there was never a crusade for Lothan. The laws of reality reflect the laws of Lothan, which would actually be the law of Yah. So the conflict/crusade that occurred was under Abbadon, self serving, capricious and callous. You and your friend escaped and left that behind. Also Paladins in this world are lawful. I thought that was a given, but saw you chose neutral. You can be lawful good or lawful neutral as a Paladin in this game world. EDIT - Hey there, I saw your DM note on the character sheet and determined that your character will not be compatible with this campaign. That means this campaign is not for you. This is why session zero is so important. I wish you the best and am sure you'll find a more suitable campaign. I have removed you from the campaign and wish you the best. I am sorry it didn't work out. Thanks! Tom Now seeing how you reacted to that response, I am convinced it was the right choice. There is to be no player drama and I am happy, for you and myself both, that we discovered this incompatibility at session zero. I do wish you the best and I am sure you will find a campaign where you fit in. I am sorry if you feel slighted, that is not my intention. Well Wishes, Tom
Ok but consider this: I'm no choosing beggar. I don't care what I play as long as I can play the campaign that I prepared for weeks for and the game that I prepared for months for. I can only play late at night on the weekends and I tried to use a evil counsel of a good messenger to be entertaining but I will make a whole new character if it means playing one of the only D&D games I can in quarantine. But I'm probably too late and you found my replacement with my luck so it doesn't matter anyway.
