Hey everyone, I am Zaku! The great and terrible. Me and some friends are looking for a GM to run a Fantasy Flight Rogue Trader game, however we are in need of GM as well time and circumstance does prevent most of us running the game, despite us all being interested. Most of us are familiar with the system, and understand the general rules, as well as a good number of us wanting to play quirky characters. Though I will note this will likely be a very large game, as of now we have seven people (including me who is interested), though I can be sure more people may want to join. Then again these kinds of large groups do work for Rogue Trader, but I leave that up to the GM. As of the people who I am sure want to play, I am interested in the Rogue Trader (a blank Rogue Trader: yes I know), though I am cool playing a Astropath if push comes to shove. Another friend wants to play tech priest, so does another player, though he is more keen on playing a Dark Eldar. Also interesting another player wants to play a Electro Priest (we have some homebrew for that), that or a Imperial Knight, so we could wind up with three tech priests. Another player wants to play Sister of Battle in latex, yeah that kind of group. Oh and we have one die hard tau fan. :P Beyond that we could have a wide assortment of people as well this is all subject to potential change. Suffice to say we are a pretty quirky and tight nit group. Just to let you know what you will get into; we are very much lore sticklers, though we can play hard and fast with it to an extent - you know bending it, though not outright breaking it; we tend to argue and get sidetracked a lot, partially with RP as well as partially with discussing the lore. We also tend to enjoy character focused games with a good amount of social RP. I am singling this out, because one GM I had for a RT game tried to treat it as DnD, and while I enjoyed that game while it lasted, I don't want to have go personally clearing tunnels of orks if I can pay a person to do that. In fact just to lay one thing down for a GM please be aware of, is be aware of the scale that Rogue Trader operates on. I bring this up as I have seen many a GM get swamped or caught unprepared by how easy it is for a group to have the 'money super power.' RT is a game which is both very micro and macro, yes you can find a Rogue Trader and his crew half a mile down a mine hole searching for lost pirate treasure on a forgotten world at the end of nowhere space, you can equally also command a sector spanning crusade, paid and bought for in a afternoon of game time. In general if you are going to run a game of RT, and this is in general, be prepared for players to do anything - including just fly off in their giant space ship. In lore Rogue Traders are a fickle bunch, and the rules reflect this. Hell a Rogue Trader is one of the few people in the Imperium who can turn round and say no to a inquisitor and not get forced to be legal procedures or threats. Not very wise, but the Inquisitor will have to find other methods of getting to you. Though do not threat, if I am a RT we will be starting out very poor, in a sort of rebuilding the fallen dynasty sort of quest. Then again that can equally change. Still what we are looking for most of all is * A Sandbox game with a sector or more to explore (the Koronus Expanse works, but feel free to make your own) (I personally am very big on exploration, sort of like Star Trek, just with the "Boldly going where no one has gone before, but for the Emperor, and purging those who resist). * Character driven RP game, with quirky adventures, romance, grotesque imagery, anything really. Honestly we would prefer to be able to do most things, but if your not cool with it let us know ^^ * Understanding the scale that RT operates on: ships are multi kilometres long, dwarfing vessels like Star Destroyers, and space travel comes with real and terrible risks. * Also the rules, kind of a given but I understand RT is a complicated system. Still if you know all of the rules we can help with it ^^ * Also a GM more about having fun, rather than trying to 'beat the players' honestly I don't know anyone in the group who enjoys that kind of GM party dynamic. We are here to have fun and tell a story. Your story, as much as ours. * The general time frame is around 22:00 or 24:00 GMT+1/16:00 or 18:00 EST * Also its Warhammer: Grim-dark where in the far future of 41st minellium there is only profit
