plyers stuck on loading screen forever on maps with dynamic lighting

So at first it was just one person, but now it is two. Both use Firefox and while I can drag them onto maps without dynamic lighting no problem, they are stuck on the loading screen for ones with dynamic lighting (even if it is just enabled and non set up) forever. One is using Windows 10 the other Linux Mint if that matters. Is there a fix for that? It be shit to have half my group beig locked out of this feature. There tokens have the proper vision etc.
I also have the same problem: with Dynamic LIghting activated, my players cannot load my maps. They can, however, load non-Dynamic Lighting maps no problem, including some of very large size. Is there a fix for this?

When you say "Dynamic Lighting" what are you actually referring to? The term is getting used very loosely these days, but here are some things to look out for: Utilizing Advanced Fog of War with Global Illumination active. This can kill performance. It's a well-documented bug, but not well-indicated in the interface (nothing pops up to say "this may cause problems") Using Updated Dynamic Lighting. It works fine for a few people, but it is still in heavy development and there are many known bugs and performance issues. Using Circles for DL light blockers. This can cause very unexpected results; the recommended procedure is to draw polygons instead. This last is not likely to be related to the problems above, but mentioned for completeness.
For my case, I am using Updated Dynamic Lighting, not Advanced Fog of War with Global Illumination active. I am also not using circles for DL light blockers. Would you recommend using the Advanced Fog of War option, with the non-updated DL? I'm still relatively new with the Roll20 system, and appreciate the advice, :). keithcurtis said: When you say "Dynamic Lighting" what are you actually referring to? As of the time of this post, I would recommend not using UDL for a game you are actually playing . By all means experiment and test with it and report those bugs, but be aware that it is in development and will have unexpected results. My personal setup is Legacy DL and  Light Crumbs  instead of Advanced Fog of War, but AFoW is fine for most people and should behave well unless you turn on Global Illumination in conjunction with it. It's an unfortunate confluence of events that the public development release of UDL coincided with a pandemic that has dramatically increased the number of brand new users. It is understandably leading to confusion and frustration.
Great! Thank you very much for the clarification and advice: as I said, I'm still relatively new to Roll20, so this is much appreciated. keithcurtis said: As of the time of this post, I would recommend not using UDL for a game you are actually playing . I am only using the UDL and nothing else and tried all the things with the old one as well. All resulting in endless loading screens. Sometimes. One player I tried it with had the load screens one day and they wouldn't go away even after 30 mins of waiting and the day after there was no issue and the next day the same issue. All on the same map with no changes to the map!
One of my players is also having this problem. Normal maps will load for him but any with dynamic lighting on wont (fog of war or the base dynamic). This problem started last weekend for us. Before that these same maps loaded without issue. Is there a fix for this as I'm paying £5 per month to have dynamic lighting so I'll be canceling it and becoming a free user again if it doesn't work.
One of my players is also having issues with dynamic lighting loading maps. Please help so our campaign can continue

Well, I have suggested that they beef up the warning on the Updated Dynamic Lighting to try to steer new users away form wasting their time on trying to make it work in an actual campaign, but it doesn't seem to be a popular opinion. If UDL was the first thing I saw when using Roll20, I'd have probably just found another VTT. This is in no way a negative reflection on what the devs are doing - I'm sure the new system will be great once it's ready. But it isn't ready now, and I don't think that fact is communicated very well to new users. The number of people having problems and posting in the forums would seem to back that up.

I completely agree there should be a warning when switching on UDL.  The stupid thing is the warning next to LDL that says that functionality will be removed in the future.  Any new user is going to think the UDL is the way to go and then instantly run into problems.
Yeah, def need a warning.  I can no longer load my campaign since I turned on dynamic lighting -_-
Same problem here. A couple weeks ago Roll20 had a technical issue and ever since they got their servers running again I haven't been able to load maps with dynamic lighting enabled. I couldn't even get into my own campaign until I realized the problem was the lighting effects. Its quite the accomplishment to break a working mechanic like that.
