Are there any GMs who AREN’T running 5e?

It seems like everywhere I look, 5e is the only game anyone wants to play. Other games are few and far between, with even dedicated communities to separate games having many more players than willing GMs. I’m not hating on 5e or the people who like it, I just don’t want to play it and it seems like every other player else does. I don’t even know what I want to play, but I know it’s not 5e. I’m not in a good position to GM either, given my lack of experience and limited schedule. So, I’m gonna take one last shot and ask around. If there is *any* place where there’s a large amount of GMs who aren’t running 5e, please let me know.
It so bad other rpgs should get there own sub forum . Its almost like your not alound to dislike 5th edition dnd if you want a game.
Tbh, finding a large amount of GM's sounds like irony. You really are better off running the game yourself with lack of experience, if people are as hungry for content as you say you are, they will flock to you and you'll get good at it eventually.
Have you tried looking here? https://app.roll20.net/lfg/search/ You can search for all sorts of games, one section (Other Games) is for games that are not represented on the pulldown. Once you have an idea of what you want to play: peruse that listing. Or just click through game titles one by one till you find something that appeals.
Yep, I run Shadow of the Demon Lord and 40k to. Have online DM friends that run Vampire and Call of Cthululu to

Yes. I've never run D&D 5e. I haven't played D&D since 1986. You will find the games I run advertised here.
Well, I'm looking for up to four players for Hunter: The Reckoning! A very not-5E experience, to be sure. Hit me up if you're interested!

There are MANY games running on Roll20 .. just look at all the different character sheet options (aka, create a "test game" and select the character sheet). D&D 5e is just the most popular game currently (probably up to half of all games or so). The other is that many GMs don't openly request players. I created a 1980's era TSR Marvel Super Heroes game to get used to running via Roll20 and help teach some GMs how to use the system and I now have 14 players (which is over double what is comfortable for now). In person and with the right system I often run 12-20 person tables, but over Roll20 & Discord similarity of voices throws me too hard. -D.M.Zwerg Amalgamated Research Gaming Hub

Actually I ran a bunch of games here. 5E is the one system I haven't run. Been running DND since basic, beta DND since 3E and while not a great fan of 5E I can understand the marketing and business side of it. As long as there's one 'big cool thing' it increases gaming visibility.
The forums are not the best place to find games. The group finder tool will usually return a lot more results. It's tedious, but if you want to see all the open 5E games then check off every game but 5E in the group finder and hit submit.

Yup, haven't run a 5e game in awhile. Mostly focused on Shadow of the Demon Lord.
I am running one D&D campaign (which I really am not motivated to play but I am committed) and two Pulp Call of Cthuhlu campaigns which are super fun. I would like too run a Traveler campaign one day but my plate is full right now. I d agree that there should be a forum for LFG non D&D games.

I’ve never gotten past Session Zero in any of my games before, purely due to scheduling problems and a high amount of prep on my part.

I am in the US, but it still feels like I’m outta luck. The vast majority of players I know IRL just don’t want to branch out from 5e and try crunchier games. It’s a little frustrating, to say the least.

The closest thing I’ve found to that was a subreddit called r/lfgmisc . It actually says in the rules “No 5e LFG postings.” I found this shortly after asking the exact same question on Reddit, so hopefully it’ll be useful to you as well!
We're looking for players for a Wednesday Pugmire game, so... yes?
Pugmire is 5E.

You can also search for specific systems with the Join A Game tool (it's in the drop down at the top, just mouse over Games and it'll pop up), and filter by your availability. I'm GMT-based, play text-only and won't touch D&D or d20 in general and I can still find games that I can play in using it. Not always good games, and not often, but I can find them. You shouldn't have too much trouble with a US timezone - especially if you're willing to play voice. I've not looked today, but not that long ago there were half a dozen or more non-D&D games recruiting and that's just for text only, which is frustratingly rare. I’ve never gotten past Session Zero in any of my games before, purely due to scheduling problems and a high amount of prep on my part. That shouldn't be too much of an issue with the Join A Game tool. It lets you select frequency and time of your games when creating the ad; if people's schedules don't allow them to make it then they'll know that in advance and - hopefully - won't join. Set a time and stick to it, and scheduling won't be (much) of an issue. Selecting players and then setting a time is the road to a colossal headache on something like Roll20, because there are players from all around the world with wildly different schedules from dramatically different time zones. If you check the Join A Game tool there are a couple of communities out there that cater to non-d20 players and GMs. I think there's a FATE group, and a Cyberpunk group that act as hubs for players and GMs to form games - though, not being part of them, I couldn't swear to their effectiveness or level of activity.
As a matter of fact I'm in a server with people also running Call of Cthulhu and Vampire of the Masquarade, if you're interested send me a PM and I'll share the link.
D&D 5e is much too basic for me. I'm currently running a few games of advanced Pathfinder first edition using Mythic Adventures.
I've been keeping an eye out for something Warhammer (40k or Fantasy) or Legend of the Five Rings, in PbP or text-based session format. It's ... a trial. Or a trawl.
There is that lot of people who don't run 5e probably have their own groups already :p Like I run PF 1e, 2e and Starfinder, but I already have group for them and I don't like posting public listings anyway. (on sidenote, it does make it hard to advertise for Roll20 that I want to more 1e and 2e and Starfinder AP modules for Pathfinder :P Would really save in my prep time and give me access to ap maps in high resolution you know)
And a lot of GMs who don't advertise through r20 (or even run on) at all. Doesn't really affect the price of fish in Azerbaijan. ;P
Hey there. I run a fair number of games on roll20 and none are D&D. I love D&D but after 25 years of running games I've run too much D&D and probably wont run it again. I do a lot of one-shots nowadays of all sorts of games and systems. I'm partial to horror and sci-fi (The Alien rpg was a huge winner for me). I'm going to be doing something set in the 40k universe pretty soon. If you're interested, PM me and I'll set you an invite to my discord channel. I always give the players on there first dibs when I run a game (they fill fast)
I'm in the UK and would like to run Savage rifts

I offer games (mostly but not exclusively fantasy RPG, D&D types of games) that are never 5e. Mainly (available in LFG listings): AD&D 2nd Edition, and a free basic simple starter D&D called BFRPG, Basic Fantasy. Non-D&D, I've got Lasers & Feelings listed in Other Games category. I'm working on setting up Gaslands Refueled, Gemso Monster Battle, Lords Of War, and my own custom game called Newshounds (Apoc World dicing). Hit me up on LFG or PM if interested David said: Outside the U.S. you are just about of luck. Not true at all, Roll20 is available in most countries around the world. I've got a 2nd Edition Greyhawk Ruins campaign and a 2nd Edition Epic of Athas running right now. I play tested 5e when it first came out, but there are just so many setting books and materials for 2e, it's literally a lifetime of materials to play through.

I run Shadow of the Demon Lord & play in Shadowrun 4th Edition. There is plenty out there but D&D 5e is like 50% of all games on Roll20 hence why you see them the most. Reddit has a number of Shadowrun 5th Edition living communities. No idea how easy it is to get a game there but a list of them exists on the Shadowrun subreddit side bar.

The world is round. Time is continuous. People can play choose to play games when they want to. There are games on Roll20 at all 24 hours of every day. I play with people from USA, Brazil, UK, Sweden, Germany, France, Greece, Japan, Indonesia, New Zealand, Australia, to name a few, on this site. There are people on here playing in the early morning, lunch hour, afternoon, evening, night, and late night. I'm not in charge of your gaming schedule, David. Ask your mom if you're allowed to play at 1am or not. Look closer at Roll20 offerings if you want a game at a different time.

The join game feature has an option to exclude paid games. It's tickbox there along with the mature content and new player friendly search options. As far as non 5E games, not likely to see any changes to the join game feature before this "new UI" rollout they've been on about for a year or so now.

The exclude function, however, would be spectacular but it's unlikely that roll20 would implement it as it would cut in on WotC's profit margins. With that said, there are only a handful or RPGs I won't play, but there are many more that I would. Having a little bit more precision would certainly make this place significantly better to use - both precision in being able to exclude the games you aren't wanting to play, as well as the precision of adding more games to the dropdown list (which you and I both know is not difficult). Both would make for a much more user friendly experience, and one I might actually subscribe to.
