The dragon prince Chelnadatilar arrives after the party has spent the night at Greenest and hears their reports. He is very happy to hear that the black dragon eggs were destroyed, and is grateful for the information about cult activities that the party has obtained. He rewards each party member with a minor magic item. Additionally, he asks Mella to be on the lookout for bronze dragonborn cult members, who may not yet be past redemption; and tells Twinkle Tom that he will be on the lookout for news of the ranger's missing mother. Leosin also asks for Chelnadatilar's help in tracking the monk's stolen items that are part of the cultist loot. The loot has moved all the way to Waterdeep on the Sword Coast, which must have been accomplished in such a short time through magical means. The dragon prince does the same for the party, providing a portal leading to Waterdeep. The paladin Ontharr Thume receives them gladly in Waterdeep, on Chelnadatilar's recommendation. He also knows Leosin, since both Leosin's Harpers and Thume's Order of the Gauntlet have been concerned about Cult of the Dragon activities. Both organizations are willing to help anyone that is against the cult. Leosin also tracks the loot further to a warehouse in the north part of Waterdeep. The warehouse stores building supplies for the repair of the road to Neverwinter, and a supply caravan is leaving shortly to head north to the Carnath Roadhouse. The three cultist wagons are here as well, with a dozen or so cult members as escort, and will be traveling with the supply caravan. The party hires on as guards to travel with the caravan, keeping an eye on the cultists along the way. The rest of the day is spent resting, shopping, and otherwise taking care of business in Waterdeep. Several of the party have eventful meetings. The Harpers ask Brin to investigate rumors of a black dragon in the Mere of Dead Men, a wide and dangerous swampy area they will encounter during their journey. Luna is approached by the Order of Delvers, a dwarven adventuring society who is keeping tabs on dwarven cult members. They're particularly interested in news of Varram the White, who is high in the cult's councils. Noram is visited by an elven acolyte of the goddess Aerdrie Faenya, receiving her blessing in honor of his devotion to life. The caravan heads north the next morning. A few days into the journey, the party meets Jamna Quicksilver, a gnome rogue who introduces herself by thwarting a cultist plot to poison the party's breakfast. Later she asks them for help in investigating the cultist wagons, which they do with great flair by providing a distraction using illusion and misdirection. Tom and Jamna succeed in investigating the wagons, but learn nothing more than that they contain looted valuables. Shortly thereafter the caravan spots the Mere of Dead Men in the distance, a wide and dangerous swampy area. Their destination lies on the edge. On the eighth night, while standing watch outside the camp, the adventurers see a huge swamp troll and some giant lizards approaching the caravan, clearly with destructive intent. Acting quickly against the troll, Tom fires arrows, Noram calls on his spiritual weapon and divine fire, Brin sends a flurry of magic missiles, and Luna changes to a black bear that bites and claws. Meanwhile Mella makes an acrobatic leap onto the back of one of the lizards, confusing it greatly, but is unable to maintain her seat and is soon thrown clear. Fortunately, Jamna responded quickly to the commotion and is able to pull the bard to her feet before the lizard can turn on her. Just then, the troll is defeated, and Noram's holy fire ensures that it does not recover. The remaining lizard flees into the swamp, and the threat is ended. Two days later, the caravan arrives at its destination: the Carnath Roadhouse. The caravan leader thanks the party members for their service, particularly in defeating the troll, and pays them their wages for the journey.
