I was looking around for some general performance troubleshooting and maybe I missed it. Last weekend we tried out dynamic lighting and we had 3 of our people who didn't report problems, but I (the DM) saw extremely laggy to unplayable speeds when trying to move counters. One of our players was also having some issues with low performance. We're currently on the first floor of Dungeon of the Mad Mage. The system I was using to run this is my Ryzen 2500U laptop with 8gb of RAM. It's been great up until now. With dynamic lighting, I was seeing 65% CPU and RAM use unusually high as well. I am running my notes (Google Docs/Chrome), character tracking (D&D Beyond/Chrome), and communications (Discord) from the same system. It's connected to a USB-C dock to display to a second monitor. I have a somewhat older desktop, but it has a discrete video card (GTX 970) and plenty of CPU/RAM (i7 4790K/32 GB). Would it be better to run this there? Should it not make a difference? Should the DM be running a more powerful system typically because of the number of markers the client is tracking? Help?
