How to let PC's and NPC's attack specific PC's and NPC's

Hi, I am new to roll20 and trying to GM a game. My players have asked me many times how to do this and i do not know the answer and can not find it(al though I am sure it is somewhere). We alle have set up characters and they are standing on the grid. In our sheets u can pres a button and we roll an attack. I have even set up macros for easy acces(proud moment). But we want to be able to say who we attack and then roll. So the outcome in the chatlog would be "Amraziel melee attack vs goblin" and then the roll outcome. In the preexisting template off course. Is this at all possible? Thank you for helping me. we play pathfinder and use the pathfinder sheet from roll20

Most character sheets don't have the option you are looking for so I can't offer any advice there, it is definitely possible with a macro. The syntax is basically something like: /em Amraziel melee attack vs @{target|character_name} The "character_name" is a specific attribute to the character sheet you are using so it might be different for the Pathfinder sheet. But that's the gist of it, using "@{target|character_name}" makes a prompt come up and some crosshairs, and then you click on a token to signify your target. It will grab the name from character sheet linked to the token you clicked.
