Hi All, I've gone through watched several video's on Roll20, had some practice sessions on Roll20, and my players are ready to commit to playing on Roll20. Luckily enough the first real campaign missions was with pirates, and didn't need anything extra so I was able to continue jumping on in. However, I've needed to make encounter battles with Sahuagin and there is no Baron or Priestess. I looked it up on the Roll20 forums and I found out that I have to buy some other compendiums. So I was ready to commit to buying this, but then thought about the other odd things. https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/bundle/4769/dandd-monster-bundle I realized the current charactermancer is missing some of the Archtypes are missing and the character backgrounds I have to write in all the skills. Is this missing because I don't have the DM bundle/Player bundle? If I was to purchase the monster bundle, I'd have all 3 monster manuals..... and wouldn't need the DM bundle as much. I'm already not interested in purchasing adventures, which the DM bundle has. And from reading the forum, there is a double entry bug if I have 2 of a kind. So what's the best bundle purchases for new DM's on Roll20 with homebrews on 5e? Or recommend bundle's? Or simply what to buy? Much advice is needed. Thanks in advance. ~Decoy
I continued to do some of my own research and after looking at the some of the other bundles I found that there is a separate player bundle, from the DM bundle. Which gets me through the archetypes not being there. I assume there is more things missing as a limited subset that is filled in with this purchase. Plus is does't seem to duplicate any compendium purchases with the monster bundle listed above. https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/bundle/4768/dandd-players-bundle I don't quite understand what unique things I get by purchasing the essentials bundle. Is this valuable for a homebrew campaign? It seems like it might be best for DMs that want to run through the pre-made quests. Can someone tell me otherwise? https://marketplace.roll20.net/browse/bundle/4387/essentials-kit-standard-edition/

In my opinion, for DM's (make sure you turn on compendium sharing so your players can use the info), the best bundles to get are probably the: Player's Bundle (PHB + Xanathars) -This allows drag and drop of most of the missing information from the SRD (free compendium stuff). It makes life much easier for players. Monster bundle (Monster Manual + Volos + Tome of Foes) -This allows pre-existing tokens to exist for the DM, saving a lot of time for the DM. Skip the essentials if you are running a homebrew, its for brand new players running a simple pre-made adventure.
