I'd like to know if 'tis possible to add more note groups in the Notes section of the 3.5e Character Sheet, and if so, how to do it.

Not without editing the sheet code (which would require the game creator to have a Pro subscription). An alternative would be requesting some handouts that you can edit and using those for note 'groups'.
