Hi everyone! Just became a member here. To shortly introduce myself I'm a 34 year old artist (painter) from Sweden that grew up with roleplaying games in the 90's. I mostly played the Swedish knockoff of D&D called "Drakar och Demoner" but also CoC, D&D, GURPS, Middle Earth, Vampire, one shots and later many different Indie Games. After a loooong break I returned to the hobby two years ago with a little CoC but soon returned to my childhood favorit "Drakar och Demoner". I started playing a campaign that is famous in Swedish roleplaying history called "Konfluxsviten" that was released as a series of 4 books over a period of 10 years. Spanning the early 80s up until 94. It is writen by Swedish fantasy writer Erik Granström. The campaign take place on a group of islands where powerfull religious, political and economical powers battle to find, and take control of, a point in time and space where the destiny of the world will be determined by whoever controls this point. The campaign is a mix of high fantasy, cheesy comedy, European history, adult themes and epic conflict. It incorporates various concepts starting off with character driven dungeon-crawl, moves on to open world exploration, interdimensional travel and strategic full scale battles. As a kid these books where hard to find but as an adult I managed to find them all and, as I said before, started playing it with some friends. I have to say it is alot of fun, weird, a bit aged at points but nothing that can't be fixed. As I found this website I thought it would be interesting to see if there is people in other countries interested in taking part of this gem. My idea is to GM it in english and either run it with some english rule set or figure out how to put the original rule set into Roll20. Im thinking a story based game not to heavy on the rules side even if the rules would be present. A loose framework lets say. Hopefully alot of focus on the player characters and their development as well as player freedom and participation. Me, since I'm Swedish, do not speak perfect English but I would say communication will be totally fine even if I might ask you what a word means from time to time. On the other hand I think the best way to experience a Swedish 80s game if from the mouth of the Swedish chef :) This is so far a bit in the future but I would start preparing it if the interest is high enough. Please write if you have some questions or thoughts and if you just want to mark your interest write +1 and I will keep you in mind for the future. Here is a wikipedia link to "Drakar and Demoner" https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Drakar_och_Demoner Happy gaming and take care!
Would you mind if people (namely me) have only limited experience with roll20 and DnD-Style role-playing systems?
I would love to know more about the world setting and what sort of characters would exist and make sense. I tried to look more up about it but admit much of it was linguistically beyond my Ken. What I did understand sounds pretty interesting though.
I'd be interested!
Cool! No previous experience needed! I’ll jot down your names and update you if things start moving.
Awesome ^-^ Just out of curiosity; is there any time estimate you have? June-ish, or likely later sometime in July or something? - Just to have a very rough estimate.
Sounds amazing, count me in !!
Greetings from a Norwegian former DoD fan. This is one of my favorite games from my younger days. I used to love this game. Bought a bunch of books when I got older and managed to track them down and could afford them, but by then I had no one to play with. Depending days/times I am definitively interested! Awesome to finally see someone thinking and planning about this game. A hidden gem as far as I am concerned.
