[Weekly Downtime Thread][Spring II 1526 HC][Sessions 191-198]

Please post any of your downtime activities below. You can find the full rules for downtime  here . You can find last week's downtime thread  here. This thread is for the week:  13 May to 17 May, covering sessions 191-198 Always remember to be specific about what downtime action you are taking! If you're leveling up type that in your post labeled as OOC! If you're looking into an item be specific about where that item is from, what mission, when you got it, who from, etc. If you write "I read that book I found" the DM is likely to have no clue what you are talking about. If you are learning a language, or tool make sure to write down how many weeks you have been practicing! This lowers the DC, and gives advantage depending on the number of weeks. Also a reminder that players only get one main downtime action per week.
Shango Bayu Ever since his last adventure in winter, Shango has been thinking and meditating on the subject of retiring from his life as an adventurer. As Darvius had pointed out during his last adventure, Shango was not able to shoulder the heavy resposibilites that came with being a Cohort member. He thinks back to what he wanted to achieve by becoming a Cohort member in the first place... At the time, what he was looking for was to temper himself and be an example of his masters teachings. Not only has he come quite far on his technique, he also has controlled that hotheaded temper of his that got him into a lot of trouble.  Not only had he already managed to achieve his goals, he has also found a place that welcomes him thanks to the Cohort, as well as close ties that he won't forget anytime soon. Korak, Drago, Darvius have all been very good to him. And he thinks that even though he'll miss going on adventures with them, if he's ever going to make the decision to quit, it's now. And it's not like he's never going to see his friends again. After signing the necessary forms for his retirement, he will travel with one of the Cohort's partered boats one last time, to get to Urkenhame. Once there, he'll see the group of adventurers off to their adventure, wishing them good luck and safe travels, before he heads into the city, requesting to see Queen Freya Drachen so he can ask if he may take up residence in Urkenhame. ( Last downtime action: Finishing his career as an adventurer. ) Alvah Laurent Alvah will begin her long and tedious intense language course. Not being able to cast magic made her painfully aware that she must keep honing her mind and body to still be an effective. Not that she was ineffective, but... She needs to learn all the other languages, so her silver tongue actually has some use. And she is going to start this course of with the most melodic of the bunch: Basarji. ( Main Action: Alvah is learning Basarji from Rendi and teaches him the Arcana Skill in exchange. Week 1 ) Eirena Lightshadow Eirena has alot of time on her hands this week, as after careful consideration, she heavyheartedly stayed with her children, to make sure they are not oprhaned should Savas and her go to this truly dangerous mission. In this time, she will use all of her might to make sure that Nasaadi did not feel neglected. Both Áine and Nasaadi are very precious to her and it breaks her heart that Nasaadi seems so jealous of her sister. But she tries to not have it weigh her down. With Áine, she will make sure that she has some fluffy playthings to play with. She'll of course also make sure that Nasaadi's playtime isn't too affected, playing anything from dolls, chess, swordpractice and sit down with Nasaadi and read. She will try her best to practice reading with Nasaadi, so her dyslexia doesn't impact her as much. She will do this by starting very slow and retaining her calm, gently letting her read, gently pointing out points of improvement and hopefully bonding with her older daughter a bit. In the times you see her in the Cohort, she seems rather exhausted, trying to balance her attentionspan between the infant and the toddler. But when she sees Savas return, she's really happy that he made it back, only to learn that not only had she worried for naught, but this was just the preparation for the real deal with the Ghost isles. Oh dear. ( Main action: Being a fulltime parent, bonding with Nasaadi, trying to rest during the nights. ) Sithric Sidhefriend Sithric will travel to Innishiere and spend some time there. He will ask if the Faerie Princess would have any time for an audience. Other than inquiring how things were going and if she needs any help with anything, he will ask if there is anything she can do for him to help him in his most dangerous mission to date: Going to the Isle of Ghosts to save Cohort Members burning in Solaria's fire from the aftermatch of the Solaria battle. He knows the dangers and speaks a bit about how most people don't return because they don't survive there. Sithric defnitely intends to survive, but he would appreciate any kind of help he could get, if theres anything she can spare. No matter if he gets something or not, he would thank her one more time for giving him a place that he feels like he belongs to. His whole life was led in the shadow of isolation, where he never really had a place to call home. But after he was offered the ritual of the sidhefriend, he finally had someone he could call his home and his people. And he would like to express his thankfulness, in case that he doesn't make it back from the isle. ( Main Action: Asking for some help for the Isle of Ghosts in Innishiere, spending some time in Innishiere, modest Lifestyle. ) -Handled in Session Takumir Jachral Takumir will level up and hone his attention, to impair the movement of people trying to maneuver around too much while he's there.  ( Main Action: Leveling up to LvL 4 Fighter, taking Sentinel Feat )

Dragomir & Nalu Drago heads straight back to Urkenhame desperate to see Nalu, after what feels like a year away he hopes she hasn't been too bored without him being around.  After a while, he meets up with other Cohort members who are dropping an  Arcon  seed to Queen Freya.  He enjoys time relaxing with  Nalu,   Larmedylth and Kaerava at his tower and is happy to see Larmedylth just relaxing in human form for once. Although the jokes about turning his home into a girls-only tower start to become a little too frequent and when he sees Kaerava making official-looking signs (where she got them from, he has no idea) he asks an expectation to be made for him. He asks the question to Larmedylth what makes Dragons grow in size and mature, more out of general curiosity. To take his mind off the upcoming mission, he asks Keavara if she is still willing to teach him how to whistle to Chick Chicks! The special call she did was magical in nature and she said before that she could teach him how to call them as she can. Drago puts all other thoughts aside and just enjoys his time with his friends and enjoying Nalu's good mood. From Drago's tower the sound of chick chick whistling echos out around Urkenhame.   Orithar Trisk The words of the red-skinned Orog women weigh heavy in the mind as he sails away from the shores of the Margreve. The common insults that get thrown his way on a daily basis tend to be easy enough to shake off but her's echo around like a bad song. Each time recalling her words he feels a wave of rage and anger that floods to the surface. Punching the wooden boards offers little release but leaves his knuckles bruised and bloody. Unable to forget the interaction he travels to a place where he can escape the echos of her cruel tongue, Cordin Inn.   During the boat ride, Orithar keeps himself to himself and begins to speak with his axe, Fire, and Ice. Trying to get a sense of what kind of working relationship both Fire and Ice wish to have and more so what kind of personality they have. Attuning to the axe as he passes over the seas. At  Corin's  inn, he hopes to see Llaegheaubhe as surely her songs can replace the echos of the red skin. Hoping she has recovered from her bedridden state and willing to listen to his latest story. If she has not, Orithar grows concerned for her well being and offers to take the food and water into her room for the staff. Hope to aid her with whatever ailment she is inflicted by.

(Actual Action) Further Description  "Character fluff and talking to rulers" Hedrin  (Level up To 7 and resting at Fey Hotspring for the downtime)  The boy spends a bit of time practicing storm magic controlling water if the hotspring staff allows it to make a few effects that would feel nice, mostly doing jacuzzi water jet type massages for anyone who asks and practices precise magic control. He avoids making any trouble with other patrons but will have a chat with anyone who sits with him and try to learn interesting things and stories from them and will excitedly talk about weather and storms if any fey seem interested in that. The boy is a bit of a glutton and will bring food and drink from the tables to other patrons to enjoy meals with them.  (Minor Action: You build me up Buttercup, Seeing if he will be the boys companion)  The boy profusely thanks Buttercup for helping him heal last time he visited now that he knows sylvan. The boy spends most of his time with Buttercup and talking about adventures and fun things he has come across since they last met. Aside from this Hedrin would ask if Buttercup would want to come adventure with him and do some fun things together. Korak (Handled in Session) (Major Seeking a Boon or Feat Training From Hjolvar if possible 30 Renown) With heavy heart Korak goes into the court of the King and seeks an audience. Korak is mostly looking for a helpful item or if they have nothing training in Tough so Korak might make it out of there.     "Good evening King Uldviik, I hope things have gone well after peace has been struck between you and the little goddess. The Cohort as a whole has caused some strife in your lands but I hope I have shown you that I am indeed a friend. The Rjurik people have a special place in my mind of what humans could be, you build your homes but respect the forests and the land around you and your warriors are proud and strong. It saddens me what happened with Solaria and heard you were quite the fierce opponent for the creatures that came for your people defending them as a true leader should. Many good fighters were lost on all fronts and I fear there is no rest for them. Any of those poor souls lost that day were likely taken under Solarias captivity and now lay captured on the island of the dead unable to move on. We are seeking to head to that island and free any captured by this foul beast and it may be at the cost of our lives. I only ask this now because your peoples souls may be at stake and though it is not my folly I will put my life on the line to free them all. (Korak then outlines what we are likely going up against in this mission) If you have any item or knowledge in your possession that would give us a better chance against these firey fiends and undead many would thank you. If you wish for the item back you will have it so long as I draw breath. (Minor Action: Letter to Binsada Queen we Saved from Slumber 12 Renown Looking for useful boon or info)  Before leaving Ariya Korak has a post sent to the queen of Binsada Banira el-Reshid (What is on tome of lords and ladies) asking for some aid in an item to pass the bridge or information regarding the isle, if magic aura is known the knowledge would be appreciated.      "Greetings Sultana, we only met briefly on the day you reawakened I hope all has gone well since that time and would like to hopefully meet you more personally in the near future. I write this letter instead of coming to see you myself with great regret, but my worry about being hunted down in your lands by the old queen that hangs onto unlife looking to hunt down those who stole a certain lamp from her. In the near future I fear she will hunt those who wronged her and gain power once again to roam the land with her army of undeath which would certainly not be good for either of us. We seek the isle of the dead for a Black Book that is marked with the names of those who have died and to save companions lost in a great battle. This Black Book we are told will put the unliving queen to rest and will be our only hope but is barred by a Green eyed monster once named Parsee (Lore dump as written in Dragos log on the monster) I write this letter in hopes that you will be able to send some sort of aid that will allow us adventurers who once saved you to have a chance at life and that her army never sees the visage of the desert outside of the tomb.

Savas Al-Hadar Savas returns to the Cohort to an ecstatic Eirena, but he sadly informs her that the most dangerous part of the mission has not been completed yet.  He spends some time with her alone, having other Cohort members watch the children so that they can spend time together, in case it is their last chance.  He will also spend time in the library, researching Dyslexia.  It pains him to see Nasaadi struggling so, and he wants to find ways to teach her how to cope and overcome this obstacle. (Elee, no response necessary.  Just wanted to specify how Savas was spending his downtime). Roland Roland sails to Urkenhame, accompanied by Soho, Takumir, and Rendi who helped him complete his quest.  After visiting briefly with Drago, they all travel to the great hall to visit the Queen.  Roland presents her with the acorn she had requested to lift the death sentence that had been levied against him.

Brognir Heads to the realm of the White Witch to speak with the White Witch about the payment for the task he finished for her mission for the Cohort. He will try and seek the payment of the 1,200 gold that was promised to each of the party who wanted gold as a reward. If he is able to collect the coin,  He will then leave 1200gp in the Cohort for when Gork Wolfborn, Saorise Auliffe, Korak, Drago, Savas Al-Hadar and even Sithric return there to go on another mission they each will receive 200gp for their aid for their help to bring him one step closer to freeing the souls who died on his mistake. He will ask the Kallanon if they will not be taxed for this payment. He then spend what ever free time he has left trying to look up anything about Captian Knucklebones and tries to see if there is something he would want for trade that Brognir could give for a ride to the Isle of Ghost by him. Phage Phage will go around and see if any outside villages could use some help. She will be looking to do work for free and spread the word of the Cohort around. If nothing comes up then she will continues to ask around and do some research on  Lutheria  The Lady of Dreams. (Looking to find any small work that she and a small Cohort team can help with for a small mission and to help with the Cohort on getting mission. Mostly something to do on a Friday if we do not get alot of sign ups.)

Nils Ullstein Location:   Halls of the Cohort Arcanum, Isle of Fabrica - Jail (0cp) Major Action:  Nils requests ink, parchment and a record of the previous trials held in the last few seasons at the cohort to help prepare his defense for the upcoming trial. He also asks for a copy of the specific charges brought against him and the tenets and other documents that provide guidance to member of the Cohort. He is driven by his righteous zeal at his unjust treatment at the hands of his "family" the other members of the Cohort.  OOC: Beyond the tenets are there any other guiding documents that lay out the goals/mission of the Cohort? Nils would request these in particular. Shou Location:   Somewhere near the Hall of the Cohort Arcanum, Isle of Fabrica - "Druid" Lifestyle Major Action:  Shou seeks Cedrych aid in training in Stealth. (Attempt 1). - FAILED DURING SESSION 204 Minor Action:  Shou digs himself a humble burrow in a nearby hillside after growing tired of living indoors within the quarters provided by the Cohort. He lives off Good-berries or whatever he can gather and feels much closer to the land. He visits the halls of the Cohort on occasion keeping an ear out for news of the Thorn King.

Glenn Sturgis Location: Urkenhame After receiving the shield Larmedlyth's Protection, Glenn would like to make a trip to meet with Larmedlyth to ask her permission to use the shield. He has been to see her before with Drago so he should know the way. He assumes she had made the shield for one of her champions, and he would not feel comfortable using it without her blessing. If she is agreeable to him using it, he would inquire if there might be a way to repair it to some of it's former glory.  Before leaving the cohort, Glenn would inquire with Cidro if he would prefer to accompany him on this journey or be setup with a comfortable spot at the cohort. Any food or drink he would need would be on Glenn's tab.
Gork Wolfborn He returns to Syndra and will aid her in any war preparation to come. Thorkell the Tall Probably lvls up to lvl 7. If not: continues to learn "Animal Handling" from Sithric (Week 3) Nasir Al'Rahka Continues to learn Anuirean from Bronsun (Week 3)

Cordie Cordie returns to her tower and begins training to better harness her new magic, getting used to it coming from within, rather than being gifted from somewhere else. When Chikat shows up asking for help she agrees, though seems to use the opportunity to train herself by using all sorts of illusions to trick the poor Dwerren during the lessons as the payment for her help. She insists that the experiences will help him learn, after all you remember weird, interesting things far easier than dull monotonous text on a parchment over and over, right? Major Action: Levelling up to Sorcerer 3 Minor Action: Teaching Midgardian to Chikat Saorise Saorise spends some time in the Cohort library. Having seen how determined Brognir is to save the lost souls and how much is still unknown about that mission, she decides to look into the magic level of the Isle of Ghosts, if such a thing is known. She attempts to find this in sections regarding incredibly dangerous places in the world. She also writes a letter to Drago, formally inviting him to visit Mispera, since he expressed an interest in that. Since the boy has an interest in dragons, she mentions all the different colours of dragonborn that live in Mispera, who sought refuge in Fort Last Hope when they had nowhere else to go. Cedrych Brightbough Cedrych reconnects with Tyron and lets him know that he managed to find a buyer for the Blessed Cherry. He gives Tyron a gift of 100 gp as a token of thanks, and to hopefully alleviate any expenses that may have been incurred as part of the search. Over some drinks, he turns the conversation to the Scabbard, and asks if Tyron was serious about selling. Cedrych asks for a thorough tour of the place (including the vault and any undisclosed features). He also asks Tyron if he can review the book keeping, to see if the Scabbard is really bringing in the amount that Tyron claims it is. Minor: Cedrych offers to bring Darvius (if he's willing) along on his business in Zobeck. He's willing to cover Darvius' living expenses, and teaches him Sylvan in his downtime. OOC: Seriously interested in buying the Silk Scabbard. Tyron was asking 33k gp, which he called "Two years worth of profits", I think. Assuming he's not inflating his numbers, does that really mean that it brings in 1375 gp profit per month? And this gold would be going into Cedrych's pockets? Would Cohort tax apply? I know you use Strongholds and Followers as the baseline for player owned buildings. Based on this, it sounds like this would be a level 5 Establishment. To build a level 5 establishment from scratch would cost 26000 gp and take 390 days, so Tyron's valuation seems reasonable. Can you confirm the mechanical details? This would obviously be a huge purchase, so I'd like to have as much info as possible. Thanks! Kazimir Volkov Kazimir spends his time at the Last Hope, working the forge and assisting in whatever ways he can. Salazar di Fioretti Salazar tries his best to learn Skitter from Yaara. Attempt 1.

(Done what I can, some things will still need Elee input) Shango Shango retires. His friends and colleagues wish him well, and will miss his presence around the Cohort. Alvah Laurent Alvah picks up Basarji very quickly and successfully learns the language. Eirena Lightshadow Eirena spends her time with her two children, catering to both their needs as much as possible. Somehow she manages to balance everything, though doing so is an exhausting job. By the end of the month both girls are much more attached to their mother than they were before. Though that also means temper tantrums when it comes time for the woman to leave. Sithric Sidhefriend Handled in Session Takumir Jachral Takumir levels up and improves his skills. Dragomir & Nalu Laermedylth will tell Drago that a dragon's power, age, and size are intrinsically linked. Normally the process is long, but it can be sped up through sacrifices. Though the matter in which these 'sacrifices' are received, and what rituals done greatly impacts their effectiveness. Dragomir tries to learn from Kaevara about summoning Chic Chics, but unfortunately he isn't able to figure out her bizarre "lessons." Orithar Trisk Fire and Ice are often talk to each other in whispers that Orithar can never quite catch. When he addresses them directly they are usually dismissive, and will comment that he should just bring them blood. However it is obvious there is more to the weapon than this, but he'll need to earn their respect before they will share their secrets with him. Llaegheaubhe is doing much better, but is still somewhat weak. The sickness took a toll out of her, and she tells Orithar that the healers aren't sure if she'll ever be the same as she was before it. At least not without powerful magic. Hedrin  Hedrin practices his abilities and levels up. (Need Elee to determine if Buttercup can/will join Hedrin) Buttercup will answer the call in exchange for mana, and good will. At least on occasion. The magic to bring him out isn't easy however. Korak Handled in session. Raven Tonks Rowan (Elee: Research into the Shadow Fey Swan Festival) The shadow fey maintain two seasons and two forms of rule. The season of the Winter Court is the crueler one, ruled by the Moonlit King, and it is a rare occurrence and often a violent one as well. The Summer Court, ruled by the Queen of Night and Magic (and now her new wife, the Queen of Witches), is far more prevalent, with a gentler air and manner. Both monarchs and their nobles dwell in the Shadow Realm. The members of these courts are referred to generally as lords and ladies (by those who fear them) and more precisely as the shadow fey, or scáthsidhe. The Swan Festival is a one where those with good enough status with The Margreve, or The Shadow Fey might find themselves invited to. Those with high enough status might be allowed to attend as servants or bystanders, but generally ordinary people aren't allowed to directly participate. Those in especially high standing might actually be given a seat at the table as an invited guest, but barring unusual circumstances most non-shadow fey must marry into the nobility to get such an honour. Armour is not permitted at the dance, but weapons and implements certainly are (but are expected to remain sheathed unless there is good cause). The seating at the feast is done strictly by Status, and those with lower Status are seated much farther away from the royal presence. Conversely those with low status are treated as children (and may in fact find themselves as such!), or distant relatives, and are seated in an entirely separate hall. The feast is almost never ending and includes dishes such as a bell soup, a snowflake soup, and a sparkling stew usually called goblin stew. The dishes are often carried to and fro by invisible hands. Raven somehow gets her hands on a menu... Hen Handled in session Hadrian Darkleaf Hadrian receives the blessing, allowing them to go ahead with the wedding. Rendi Theocus Rendi levels up, gaining better control over his pixie abilities. Chikat Stonehaven Chikat attempts to learn from the pixie, however her methods are confusing, nonsensical and for the most part downright irritating. It almost seems like she's more focused on training herself by messing with the poor Dwerren than actually teaching him. He will need more time to attempt to grasp the language. Savas Al-Hadar Savas does what he can for Nasaadi. It is evident how much he cares for the girl. (Elee, no response necessary.  Just wanted to specify how Savas was spending his downtime). Roland The death sentence on Roland is lifted, he no longer has to watch over his shoulder for the heavy footsteps of the Mammoth Warrior. Brognir Brognir receives his promised payment from the White Witch. The rest was handled in session. Phage (Elee: Asking/researching in Thylea for possible missions or quests) I'll be getting up some missions ASAP. Nils Ullstein Nils prepares himself for the trial. Shou Handled in session. Glenn Sturgis (Elee: Asking Larmedylth about Larmedylth's Protection, permission to use it and how to repair it. Also Cidro's bar tab.) Larmedylth will grant permission to use her shield, or more so will make it clear it doesn't bother her one way or the other. Cidro will pile up a tab of 15gp worth of booze, and according the dragon that's "a light month." Cidro says he will go where the alcohol goes. Gork Wolfborn Gork is put to work training some of the other orogs. Thorkell the Tall Thorkell trains his body even further, levelling up. Nasir Al'Rahka Nasir finally has a breakthrough with the language, where everything seems to click into place and it all becomes easy after that. Nasir successfully learns Anuirean. Cordie Cordie levels up. Saorise Handled in session. Tanya Karelovna Tanya levels up. Kobal Kobol spends more and more time training in the darkness, and levels up. Soho Jo Soho Jo reflects on his scales, calling on more strength from Nyssra so that he can do more good, and levels up. Darvius Darvius successfully picks up the secrets of the fey tongue. Cedrych Brightbough (Elee: Asking Tyron about the Silk Scabbard to research purchasing it) Mechanically it would function as an Establishment, but wouldn't grant any benefits beyond that for meta reasons. If you wanted to retire Cedrych so that he could live as life as a wealthy NPC that would be fine, but generally speaking owning a business and the like in our terms is always a "money drain" for one reason or another. Be that the character is expanding their influence or whatever. This makes sure that characters in The Cohort are all adventurers, and those that find a peaceful life outside of that are NPC (and potentially important allies and characters for future parties). Kazimir Volkov Kazimir spends his time at the Last Hope, working the forge and assisting in whatever ways he can. Salazar di Fioretti Salazar does his best to learn, but Skitter is a language so different than any other that he makes very little progress this time. Zolis Zolis tries to pick up the local language, though he will need more time to pick up the rules of the grammar.
