Looking for Dungeon Master

Hello, all. My name is Cecilia Harris, and I'm older than you're expecting but not quite that old. I've been playing DnD for five years-three years as a player, and two years as a Dungeon Master. At the moment, I'm currently running two campaigns online. Unfortunately, since COVID-19 doesn't seem to be letting up anytime soon, and I'll be confined to my house for the foreseeable future, I'm growing more than a little tired of DMing. Now don't get me wrong, being a Dungeon Master is amazing and I love it a lot, but it's also extremely tiring, and doesn't quite match the wonder of being a player and actually getting to interact in the story. "Get to the point," I hear you all muttering behind your screens. I know, I tend to ramble when I'm nervous. Sorry. My point is that I'm looking for a Dungeon Master (preferably fifth edition, but I can adapt to older versions of the game if need be) who's willing to take me on as a player. I am polite, patient, and willing to roll with the punches, eager to test out any homebrew thrown at me, and have no less than seven potential characters circling in my head at any given time. I usually like to play caster classes, but I'll gladly play whatever class is needed to balance out the party. I like roleplay and mysteries the most in a session, though I am not above engaging in bashing some goblins should the need arise. I have three characters who have their own sheets on Roll20 at the moment, which will be listed below, though I can also make another character with a class the party needs in a pinch. Name: Cora Underbough Race: Halfling Class: Evocation Wizard Alignment: Lawful Good Background: Sage Backstory: Cora grew up in a poor halfling family, who scrimped and saved to send her to the best wizarding school they could find. When Cora had graduated and was about to accept a prestigious position as a king's advisor, her family contacted her and told her Bree, Cora's twin sister and the black sheep of the family, had gone missing under suspicious circumstances. Cora gave up her dream job to find her sister, wrestling her regret of that choice with worry for her sibling in a search she continues to this day. Name:  Smoke on the Water Race: Tabaxi Class: Way of the Open Hand Monk Alignment: Chaotic Good Background: Acolyte Backstory: Smoke was left at the gates of a temple to Torm as an infant, and raised by the warrior monks of the temple. She had a happy life until her mentor went missing, and left the monastery for the first time to find him, adrift in an unfamiliar world but determined to complete her task. Name: Korinn Shestendeliath Race: Green Dragonborn Class: Oath of Devotion Paladin Alignment: Lawful Good Background: Noble Backstory: Korinn grew up in the Shestendeliath noble family, a clan of dragonborn that had fought for years to be recognized as a noble house. She was a boisterous child, understanding tradition but unwilling to see acts of injustice or cruelty come to pass. When she was seventeen, she was betrothed to the son of another noble house, only for him to try and kill her family on their wedding night to secure her family's fortune. Korinn ran, finding refuge in a temple of Bahamut. There, she trained as a paladin, vowing to one day be strong enough to take back her house and punish the elf who had taken her family from her. Anyway, these are my three characters. I also have several rules I abide by, and if you as a Dungeon Master cannot accept them then I unfortunately do not wish to play with you. Rule 1-No bigotry. In-game racism (i.e, tieflings) is fine to an extent, but I do not tolerate any racism, sexism, or homophobia unrelated to the session. Rule 2-As a DM, I know how hard it is when players cancel at the last minute. I promise to always let you know if I can't make it no less than two hours before the session starts, but I ask you to do the same as well. Of course, extenuating circumstances apply, I'm just mentioning this as a general rule. Rule 3-Have fun. Ultraserious DMs don't make it a fun game for me. I'm not asking you to go buckwild, just maybe step out of your comfort zone a little. My discord is donaldtrumpisabeholder#4085 if you want to contact me further. Stay safe and stay home, and may all your rolls be crits.
As an add-on, I should probably let you know when I am available. Sorry that I didn't add this sooner. All the times below are in EST. I run a session on Mondays from four to six and one on Sundays from four to seven. I have therapy at three thirty on Wednesdays, and I go on hikes with my family either Saturday or Sunday mornings. The best times for me would be Fridays at one pm onwards, but I'll have to stop by six pm.
Hey there Cecilia. First off, just seeing your name has me singing the simon and garfunkel song, and now it won´t get out of my head. Im pretty sure "earworm" is a cantrip somewhere.. anyway  Long story short: I am part of a campaign, which 4 other campaigns are running in.  We have a great discord community but its a tipped game. The DM is basically trying to make DMing his job. We think he is doing a great job and love our little community. But I also know pay to play is a thorny issue in the D&D community. Anyway, the first game is tip free, but if you want to know more, just let me know!

Hey Stephen, I've heard many, many jokes about that song. I must admit I'm interested in your campaign, but I don't have a ton of money at the moment. Do you know how much I would be asked to pay each week? Also, would your DM be open to alternative methods of payment, such as art of the game (I'm a halfway decent artist), promoting the game, or something along those lines? If alternative payment isn't an option, I totally understand, it just sounds really fun but I'm not sure I have enough money for pay to play.
Hey Cecilia do you have discord? We can chat there and I can give you all the info! add me, I´m wildebeest1984#9505.
Im an idiot, just realised you have discord and you already mentioned it.. sorry im getting old and now blind!
yeah I do! going over there now.
My own campaign has room for a player, as it stands. I definitely appreciate you laying out your rules that clearly, since that saves me from asking pretty much the same thing. We play on Thursdays, 3pm-7pm EST (to accommodate European time zones - players are currently all from the UK or Ireland).  By and large, I would say that we're a mature and slightly serious group, with a strong focus on immersion and RP. In fact, the majority of game time is spent on social interactions and discussing mysteries / intrigue, and how to solve them! Currently 16 sessions in, things have been going well, and I'm very happy with the players. Sadly, one of them is leaving soon, since they received a new job-offer while the Covid lockdown was in place, and that will prevent her from attending regularly soon. It's fair to note that the campaign is (by D&D standards) exceedingly light on combat - we average perhaps one fight per two sessions. They do tend to be dangerous when they occur, since I'm no great fan of meaningless "filler" events. If you're going to risk yourself, I'm going to do my best to have it be memorable, or at the least to provide the chance for some drama and heroics! The campaign is set in the Forgotten Realms, but about two centuries before the default 5th edition timespan. That would, roughly, be the time of the old AD&D "Grey Box" set. We do use 5th edition, but with some restrictions to make sure it suits the setting. That can all be explained later, though, once we get to know one another to the point that we're comfortable you'd match the game well. Let me know if you feel that you could make the time reliably, and without a changing schedule that would make future attendance tenuous. We'd love to add someone to the group that shares our preferences, and who knows? You might be that person. Hoping to hear from you, Pat

Dear Pat, I unfortunately have both schoolwork and therapy sessions on Thursdays. I thank you for the opportunity, though. Regards, Cecilia
Cecilia H. said: Dear Pat, I would love to take advantage of that opportunity, though I do have some prior obligations that may interfere. Do you have a Discord? Perhaps we could continue this further there. Regards, Cecilia. I'll send a pm with my Discord info.
That discord username has got me cackling.
