What Supwoli said! Oneshots tend to be easier to find DMs for but there's a lot of paid stuff right now because of summer and quarantine if that's an option for you. In addition to what your experience is in terms of playing and/or with stuff like actual play podcasts and streams, it's also helpful if you post your timezone and some basic schedule information for people to know whether or not you'd work with their group. It's also a good idea to say what you're looking forward to while playing—are you looking forward to talking to NPCs? Combat? A mix of both? Intrigue? Pirates?—in case someone wants to tap you for a homebrew. A lot of LFP posts will also want someone with a character idea in place, so be thinking about what you might want to play as. The main thing, though, is patience. When someone announces that they plan to start DMing they get a loooooot of player applications so we've all been turned down before.
