Irabeth summons the party to the taproom, and share with them the latest information that the Knights of the Pale have collected. The wardstone fragment is being held at the Gray Citadel, a holy outpost that the Knights believed destroyed. Irabeth's scouts have discovered that the Citadel still stands. Based on the evidence the heroes have collected, she fears that they have captured a fragment of the wardstone that Baphomet destroyed centuries ago, and that they intend to use it to expand the Hellmouth. The companions agree to seek out the wardstone fragment and destroy it. Irabeth gives them a rod of cancellation -- they must touch the rod to the fragment to render it inert. The heroes make their way across the burning city to the location of the Gray Citadel. The Citadel's doors are guarded by two corpulent villagers. As Nor skulks close, they reveal their true nature: hideous, demonic worms bust forth from their bodies and attack! The party makes short work of the worms, which Arthas identifies as vermlek demons. After the battle is over, the heroes examine the host bodies; Eovan recognizes one of them as Norris Silverkin, his mentor in the Temple of Odom. There is no time to mourn Norris, however, as Nor steps forth and dissolves the Citadel's doors. Two tiefling knights and a magus stand revealed, and a battle erupts. The party is eventually victorious, and Arthas and Nor chase one of the knights into the citadel, as Malak begins to loot the other's awesome-looking armor. The fleeing enemy's path leads up a spiral staircase, to the top floor of the Citadel. At the top of the stairs, a massive winged Minotaur named Deradnu stands guard. Another battle ensues, this one within the cramped confines of the Citadel's hall. Once again, the heroes are victorious, though Arthas is almost slain. Pressing onward, the companions discover a sacred chamber, containing the wardstone fragment, and glimpse a cultist with a scythe disappearing into a mysterious portal. Arthas touches the rod of cancellation to the fragment, and a burst of energy pours forth... Suddenly, each hero is transformed. Malak becomes a huge red dragon, filling most of the room. Arthas becomes a four-winged angel standing nine feet tall. Elaryan transforms to ape form, only now his fur is a vibrant red color and curved horns spring forth from his head. Nor grows to a height of six feet, his lower half becoming a twisted, fungal abomination. As each hero glories in his new form, a vision is revealed to them. A female paladin in glowing armor appears, and speaks: I am Iomedae, and I have been watching you. Your actions this day have saved this nation, and perhaps all of reality. But there is more to do. Some of you are farther down the path of redemption than others, but all of you have a part to play in the battle of good against evil. These powers will aid you in that battle. Everyone who played gains 12,000 XP and one Mythic tier.
