22 May 2020 The party returned to Phandalin, secured room and board at Stonehill Inn, and listened in on local gossip. Outside of agricultural and weather discussions, as farmers are wont to have, the party overhead a group of farmers discussing a stone lighthouse west of Phandalin, along the Sword Coast. Apparently, ships are drawn to the lighthouse and crash upon the rocky shore from time to time, and rumor has it the coast is littered treasure within the ships' rotting hulls. Matthias and Chiao returned Charles and Company to Aunt Qelline Alderleaf, a halfling farmer, whom was very grateful and offered her barn as a source of lodging. Matthias accepted, Chiao, accustomed to the comforts of the megalopolises of Kara-Tur, declined, and rejoined her companions at the inn. The group set out southwest at dawn, toward the Dwarven Excavation site. Along the way, they spotted a dragon winging over the Sword Mountains to the east, but it either didn't notice them or had bigger fish to fry. In any event, the adventurers found Norbus and Dazlyn at the dig site and warned them about the dragon. The dwarves did not seem too interested to return to Phandalin, but offered to split found treasure with the party if they could solve a snot monster problem within a Temple of Abbathor. The dwarves also relayed the fact an orc had come by recently, scouting out a new home for its mates. The dwarves trapped the orc in the temple and assumed it got eaten by the snot monster. They were right. The party agreed and delved into the temple, were set upon by two ochre jellies, a mated pair, but ultimately prevailed. They discovered a lot of secret doors, a skull filled with ornamental gemstones, pried some gold studs off ceremonial armor, claimed a holy symbol off a dwarf who died in a cave-in, and found an enormours emerald within the greedy hands of a dwarven statue (obviously trapped). They left the gem to Norbus and Dazlyn, split a fractional amount of the treasure they found with Norbus and Dazlyn, collecting their magic sending stones , and parted ways with the dwarves. *** PCs Present: Cormac, Chiao, Matthias, Simplejack, and Travyn Milestone Level Up (all PCs now level 3) Treasure Gained: 125 gp in gemstones, 25 gp in gold studs, holy symbol of Abbathor (50 gp), sending stones , and 50 gp reward from Townmaster Wester upon delivery of Norbus' note.
