Why WHY do translation changes that remove characters not propagate.

Seriously. I make typos. Sometimes they make it into the published translations.json file. If those typos happen to only have extra character and not missing ones, my only recourse is to make whole new translation keys for them? This is silly.

Yes, I've been discovering that too. It is frustrating.

I've found that the translation.json and the en.json often do not match which usually indicates the other language files are not syncing with the translation.json as well.  I've resorted to manually updating some of the language files to include any changes that I've made to the translation.json.  Something seems amiss with the crowdin/github api.  ;-(
This is actually documented behaviour (see here ), which makes it all the more infuriating because that meens someone has looked at this and said "yup, that makes sense".

Agree.  I sure wish there was a way to flag the translation.json to indicate there was a change.  Wait, that's why we make pull requests right? ;-) This really should be addressed.  I often make small changes to the translation.json for clarity.  I can see whitespace and possibly case changes not being detected, but adding/removing a character(s) really should propagate to the language files.

Maybe it would be a good idea to make a bug report about it, link and explain the troubles this causes. And isn't there some larger bug going on where other translation changes doesn't propagate between translations that you have encountered with this as well? Would think this also have implications on how translations from CrowdIn propagates.

I made a report 4 weeks ago... no response.  ;-( Character sheets and translations out-of-sync; ie en.json does not match translation.json I know everyone's been spread thin lately.
