"Get Ready to Get Even" - Wednesdays at 7 pm CST. It's not D&D, but we're starting a Leverage RPG session. It uses the Cortex rules, and is based on the Leverage TNT TV show. Each night is one self-contained episode/session (unless the players are really into long cons/role-playing). You can also play a "season"/campaign. You play a multi-class Grifter, Hacker, Hitter, Mastermind, and/or Thief, and everything is rated in die types: d4 - d12. You start with a d10 in your primary role, so the equivalent of about Lvl 10-15 in D&D terms. There's no equipment (and/or you have standard equipment typical for your role), it's modern-day, and it's kind of crime-oriented since you play good-hearted crooks and thieves. Your role is your "class", so if you're a Thief d10, you've got a d10 in everything thiefly: pickpocketing, safecracking, sneaking, lockpicking. If you want to be a Hitter as well as a Thief (a ninja?), you could be Thief d10/Hitter d8. YIt looks like the first job is a Mastermind professor assembling a team of experts. So initially a college setting. We found a free copy of the rulebook online, but you probably won't need it past the first session. Rules are simple enough that they can easily be taught. . Like the TV show, emphasis is on role-playing, personality, and storytelling. Stop by if the time works and you're interested. It's a good intro to role-playing in general.
