Ch. 23: The Party Makes a Deal with The Orcs, Return to ConyBerry then Head for Old Owl Well

Dungeon Master (GM): 3 of the party are inside the ruins of Savras temple right now, the rest are hiding in the line of forest that surrounds the clearing that surrounds the temple and we have a displaced Orc tribe using this as a camp. let me find the area description of the place to get re-familiar with it. The center building houses a bell tower. Here was the initial description: A ruin stands in the middle of a vast field north of the rocky foothills of the Sword Mountains. An old stone temple with a belfry jutting from its peaked roof is enclosed by stone walls, many sections of which have collapsed. The trail ends at a crumbling gatehouse, the doors to which were sundered long ago. Three of the four towers that once stood at the corners of the outer walls have collapsed. Only the northeast tower remains, and a guard stands atop it.   Buddy D.: ready   Zar'Tharkus: ohhh ya lol irlima vet with a broken memery but i think i remember prayn was trying to get them to help the village and i wanted to challenge the leader to single combat to take the tribe and make them leave and i was worried the orcs would see threw prayns disguised because he talked so flowery like knightly   Dungeon Master (GM): oh i see i don't have the roof top view of the main building here revealed so i shall do so   Roqar: Remember Roqar No speak Orc :)   Jaster R.: Remember no  Russisn   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you should all see what the roof top looks like now   Zar'Tharkus: hehe gonna half to trust your new merc friend the half or then lol   Roqar: Yeah getting ready to bust out short sword and go down fighting hehe   Prayn Vigim: so, how do we stand on convincing them?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, right now they are pretty much going along with what Xar'Tharkas and Prayn are saying.   Zar'Tharkus: we were at odds if i remember u wanted them to help and i was gonna challenge the acting leader to take over and make them help if i can even do that   Dungeon Master (GM): you can do that of course   Prayn Vigim: ok, what was it, it was basically "Your leader died because the dragon, help us kill it, you avenge yo leader, and we may be able to make some peace with the village enough for y'all to get supplies" I believe that's the jist of what I said before to them   Dungeon Master (GM): ok noted   Zar'Tharkus: ill follow paryns lead i guess and if it fails ill brutally kill there leader and hopefuly intimadate them lol   Dungeon Master (GM): that's fine   Prayn Vigim: I am curious who is the acting leader tho   Zar'Tharkus: i ashed and he said i am   Prayn Vigim: U r now? cool   Zar'Tharkus: just dont recal which no he said he was   Prayn Vigim: oh ok   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, Zar is the leader today then.   Prayn Vigim: Of the orcs?   Dungeon Master (GM): ha no!   Zar'Tharkus: i ment we know which one but not sure on the bored just remember he was standing close to me   Dungeon Master (GM): the adventurers oh ok   Prayn Vigim: Oh, I've never played with party leaders before, ok   Dungeon Master (GM): ok looks like Orc #01 is the leader with his two bodyguards to either side   Roqar: [Stands there "Get your hands off me you damn dirty Orc]   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "So, do we have a deal? Help us, and we help you?" persuasion?   Orc #01 the Leader Says: "Yes, we have a deal here." no need   Prayn Vigim: nice   Roqar the Elf Rogue [Has no idea whats being said   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Glad we could come to an agreement. I suppose we now need leads on the dragon's nest?"   Dungeon Master (GM): so the idea was to establish trade between here and the village of Conyberry right?   Buddy D.: i think so   Prayn Vigim: It was to kill the dragon, to avenge the leader, then use that as proof that the orcs can be helpful to the village, then use that as a starting point for trust and trade   Dungeon Master (GM): but first try to deal with the white dragon   Prayn Vigim: yes   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Orc #01 the Leader Says: "I will let you three go, and we have others that were snooping around here, take them with you. " [The others will be the new players that have since come into the game]   Zar'Tharkus: i got a couple questions? first didnt town send us to kill them? why would the town trade? lol nice
Dungeon Master (GM): [well now it looks like you need to convince the Conyberry folks to trade instead of fight!   Prayn Vigim: yes, but if they dont bother the town while working with us, that'll be fine. And, they may trade after we say the orcs helped kill the dragon (also a major threat to the village) or at least, that's what I was going for   Dungeon Master (GM): The orc leader, tells two of his guards to release the prisoner   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Well, I guess we'll get out of your hair now. We'll be back sometime with leads on the dragon."   Dungeon Master (GM): they go into the temple itself and emerge with the prisoner   Zar'Tharkus: nice   Rahfen: Think of it as, a kinda flexible take on orcs, they may be savage, but if they can think, they can change. Also, they are pretty desperate for help rn.   Dungeon Master (GM): yes   Zar'Tharkus: ahh no worries im just a player im not gonna worry about it lol   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Oh, hello, how'd you get caught?"   Dungeon Master (GM): [go ahead and interact with the newbie]   Roqar the Elf Rogue In Common to Newcomer "Trust us and you might live to tell about this"   Dungeon Master (GM): willie you are hiding in the forest with the rest of the gang which would be Eimong and Sildar...Eimong will not be with us until sometime in June   Dungeon Master (GM): Ok, does Skywise have anything to say to the adventurers?   Ullek H.: Welcome   Prayn Vigim: y eu there   Dungeon Master (GM): [The party is also aware of Orcs roaming the base of Wyvern Tor Mountain]   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Oh, and, before we head out. Are the orcs at the base of the mountain with all of you?"   Orc #01 the Leader Says: "They follow another path. When we fled, our people tended to bunch with those they saw as a new leader and we thus splintered up and now roam the countryside.""   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "I see. Good to know. Anyone else have anything to say before we find that lizard with wings?"   Dungeon Master (GM): nothing more to be said?   Roqar the Elf Rogue Would say plenty but does not speak Orc :)   Dungeon Master (GM): ok Roqar!   Xar'Tharkas the Half-Orc Fighter Grunts...   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock heads back to the exit, waving the others on to follow   Dungeon Master (GM): ok the leader has his men escort the group out of the ruins then   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "So Whats the deal you guys made?"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you are all together back inside the forest out of sight of anyone from the ruins   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "They'll help kill that dragon, and in exchange we try to help get them some supplies and trade with the village. Seems that more than honor they need a roof over their heads"   Xar'Tharkas the Half-Orc Fighter Says: "A dangerous one i dont trust them at our backs.... "   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock turns off disguise self   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We'll see if they hold up their end"   Dungeon Master (GM): let me switch to an area map   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Trust or not, i've never been one to deny the loyalty of desperation. If it brings us some coin and peace to the village, it'll be well worth it."   Xar'Tharkas the Half-Orc Fighter Says: "That is whats strange ..... for my honor id die like a dog in the cold with my enemies throat between my teeth...."   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Did anyone see where that sky snake went off to?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Last I saw, I think it went East, but could have gone anywhere"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, looks like the map got knocked out of whack somehow
Zar'Tharkus: honor   Prayn Vigim: "Then, I'm sure that honor will be good fuel for the fight that awaits us." "You say you think it went East?"   Dungeon Master (GM): hmm, the grid is still lined up but somehow the reveal is out of whack   Rahfen: (do we remember if it went east?)   Dungeon Master (GM):  Yes the white dragon went east. ok, map revealed better now plus two locations added in   Dungeon Master (GM): so are we heading back to Conyberry or going south to look for the Wyvern Tor orcs?   Prayn Vigim: I vote conyberry was gonna ask about dragon leads   Dungeon Master (GM): You also know about Old Owl well to look for   Buddy D.: i am up for either   Dungeon Master (GM): a place where undead have been scaring of miners   Prayn Vigim: noted   Roqar: Old Owl Well   Rahfen: (also, conyberry is where we grab jaster's character, but wanted to give a non-meta reason)   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, I believe Sildar would know where that location is as well, roqar so go to Conyberry first then?   Roqar: Its on the way to Conyberry or nearby right?   Prayn Vigim: yes, I do think so   Dungeon Master (GM): Sildar would tell you that Old Owl Well is at least 15 miles south east of the Shrine of Savras Wyvern Tor Mountain which you can see from the Triboar Trail is another dozen or so miles from old owl well ok, bringing up the Conyberry map then each hex is 5 miles   Roqar: Ok so Conyberry then Old Owl then Wyvern Tor   Prayn Vigim: yee   Buddy D.: yes   Roqar: Wheres the Inn?   Dungeon Master (GM): i'll move the tokens to the inn   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Y'all got any limes here?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Bottle of wine, leave the bottle"   Zath Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "So you want me to empty out the bottle first madame?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "No, I'll empty it, just give me a bottle"   Zath Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "Just Joking Madame, here is a bottle of wine for you."   Roqar the Elf Rogue pops the cork drinks from the bottle   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Do y'all have limes here?"   Buddy D.: pours half a bottle out for his homies   Bob Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "yes limes and lemons here of course!"   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Can I just get like 3 whole limes, not cut or anything."   Bob Zeissin the InnKeeper ok he gives you 3 whole limes   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "thanks  gives money  (idk how much))" Eats a chunk through the rind, like an apple   Bob Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "they are 2 coppers a piece"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Watches Prayn to see what he does with limes   Rahfen: ok, ill -6   Roqar the Elf Rogue grimaces than shrugs takes another swig of wine   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock keeps nibbling the one, and puts away the others for later   Travok: (tell me when I'll have to start roleplaying) :3   Rahfen: uwu
Dungeon Master (GM): [You can bring up about the orcs here, there's not many npc's for the town, so really no specific leader type here] [heck i had to make this map even based off another user made map]   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "i walk up to travoc. how are you sir"   (To Ullek H.):  you can mention that inside the temple is where the tribe's children are kept   (To Ullek H.):  You can also mention you were kept in the west wing   Ullek H.: I was kept in the west wing   Ullek H.: In the temple is were the kids are too   Roqar the Elf Rogue turns to the two newcomers "Hey, you guys want to go after some undead?"   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "yes"   Ullek H.: Anything that puts coin in my pouch sounds good I am tired of eating grull   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We heard about them at a place called Old Owl Well"   Dungeon Master (GM): [I think you will get 100 gp for dealing with the wyvern tor orcs, I forget if there was a job offer on the Old Owl well gig]   Ullek H.: I mage of my standing has an image to uphold   Xar'Tharkas the Half-Orc Fighter chuckles Says: "im with him more coin the better "   Dungeon Master (GM): ullek you can speak in character by clicking your token and then clicking the say something or emote something buttons   Ullek H.: k   Zar'Tharkus: lol im just a mercenary gold and violence is all i.like its right in my background lol..........   Travok Lightbearer the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Undeads ya say' eh?"   Skywise the ELf Wizard Says: "Oh i hate wyverns, buggers can eat you for sure"   Dungeon Master (GM): [it's what the miners here say are scaring them away from that site]   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "They can eat my undergarments..... I’ll stick them with a arrow!"   Roqar the Elf Rogue raises the bottle "And you two, thanks for not selling me out to the Orcs, neat magic trick also" takes another swig   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock mutters at the bar, licking his lime Says: "wuh, oh! ye-yes! thank you"   Roqar the Elf Rogue What time of day is it?   Dungeon Master (GM): let me check   Travok: (oof I'm sorry, I'll take the next oppertunity to roleplay) (I was editing my character)   Prayn Vigim: is there a store nearby?   Dungeon Master (GM): let's say it was like 9:45 am when you left the shrine and probably a two hour walk back into conyberry   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "i walk up to the dwarf" Says: "do you have any tales of heroic"   Travok: oof I actually don't but   Zath Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "There is a Veterinary and stables and a blacksmith"   Prayn Vigim: I'd like to go to the blcksmith   Zath Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "There is also a general store"   Prayn Vigim: nevermind general store   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "How about we have lunch and go looking for these Undead?"   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "what keeps you here in connberry"   Travok Lightbearer the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Got me village slaugh'ered by Orcs, if ya coun' ta as a tale."   Travok: Sorry, I took a while to make the dwarven accent   Skywise the ELf Wizard Says: "Sorry to hear that Travok."
Prayn the Aasimar Warlock goes off to general store   Travok: (how did you know my name btw?)   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "if you want to go kill some orcs id be up for some killing of orcs. my family was killed by orcs as well"   Dungeon Master (GM): [just wing it on the general store there is no specific bldg set aside for it or occupants]   Ullek H.: Ooc: you posted in say out open   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: " knocks , enters* Hello? Ah! hi there, do you have any oil by any chance? the flammable kind."   Travok Lightbearer the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Kill som' Orcs? Bah! If only tis tha' esay'"   Skywise the ELf Wizard Says: "Hey if we kill em orcs will that negate our coin"   Dungeon Master (GM): [I added the general store in since they need a place where trade can happen]   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We can go after the Orcs after we clear out these Undead, Orcs are further South"   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "i smoke some green tabacc and then i will slay orcs"   Dungeon Master (GM): [No since you need proof you dealt with the orcs]   Travok: DM the party recused me from the Orc tribe? or was I jus sitting in the bar? (or, a townhall leader?)   Dungeon Master (GM): back in Phandalin, yes the townhall leader harbin Wester   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Oi, guys, shouldn't we let the town know we have an agreement with the shrine orcs?"   Dungeon Master (GM): [You never met him directly yet, you simply know that it's a job offer mentioned by someone else]   Skywise the ELf Wizard Says: "Well lets chit the deal to the big chief in town about are side deal with them orcs"   Dungeon Master (GM): [You could just tell the Innkeepers here about it, they'll spread the word!]   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: " goes to bar "   Skywise the ELf Wizard Says: "Now that is a fine idea if I say so myslf"   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Hello,  slaps 5 silver on counter  can I ask for a favor?"   Zath Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "What favor may that be?"   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "I need you to spread the word that we've got an agreement for peace and possible trade with the orcs from the nearby shrine. This 5, for that."   Roqar the Elf Rogue finishes her venison, washes it down with more wine pops the cork back in, puts the bottle in her pack   Dungeon Master (GM): [being it's now our usual ending time, how much longer do you guys want to continue before we call it for the day?]   Willie Belson: i got to go...got college   Dungeon Master (GM): ok Buddy   Prayn Vigim: Ok, um, I just wanna set up a messenger to phandalin also if possible   Dungeon Master (GM): sure   Xar'Tharkas: we did start almost an hour late im up for more   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "How much do you think it'd cost to have a messenger make its way to phandalin?"   Xar'Tharkas: ohh ok   Roqar: I can go for about 30 minutes more   Bob Zeissin the InnKeeper Says: "5 gold for a messenger to phandalin"   Ullek H.: am good for 30   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Xar'Tharkas: sounds good ill do 30 more
Dungeon Master (GM): ok [I guess the general store would be the base for sending message carriers out]   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I'm good to go after these undead now, "   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "oh no, that's a bit rich for my blood. You'll spread the word for say, 5 sp or 1 gp tho right?" Says: "Unless, any of the others would like to chip in?  turns to party "   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, just want to see what the message back to phandalin will be then i'll switch to the area map as we may get a random encounter going down to the well   Prayn Vigim: should we deliver it ourselves real quick, then do the well next session?   Skywise the ELf Wizard Says: "Sorry Prayn am flat broke"   Dungeon Master (GM): [i was to thinking it was 1 gp for just a flask of oil so 5 gp because someone has to walk to phandalin]   Prayn Vigim: sounds about right, is a risky journey   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "I'll cover it, you tell em what the message is"   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Really? My thanks, here  gives a lime "   Ullek H.: Next time we up a orc shine we buy oil, must be cheaper there   Roqar the Elf Rogue looks at the lime "Keep it"   Travok Lightbearer the Dwarf Cleric Says: "ORAORAORAOROA"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "You can owe me later"   Travok: oof   Dungeon Master (GM): [and the message to be sent is?   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock writes in message  : "Dear, Harbin Wester, I write to you as a member of the party hired to deal with the local orcs at the shrine. We've managed to, surprisingly enough, come to an agreement with them. They've offered their arms in dealing with the other threat of the townsfolk, the wyvern, and in exchange we have agreed to try to set up trade with the nearby towns as payment, as they are desperate for a home and that may be a major cause for their recent outlashes. Please refrain from any further aggression with that specific tribe for now, and we may have a peaceful resolution at our hands. -sincerely, Prayn Vigim." that /\   Dungeon Master (GM): ok noted and a messenger will be sent out in the morning with any other mail from the town   Prayn Vigim: nice   Prayn the Aasimar Warlock Says: "Thank you again Roqar, I'd much prefer for the towns to get along with the orcs if possible."   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, i'll bring up the area map   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, to get to the well you have a choice to either go just east of the shrine then turn south east or go to the east of the foothill and go south east   Prayn Vigim: Lets try the foothill, I don't want the orcs to have a chance of seeing me out of disguise   Roqar: sounds good   Prayn Vigim: any objections?   Dungeon Master (GM): someone can trace a path to get down there   Prayn Vigim: like, with the line tool?   Xar'Tharkas: i know its sad but so hope we get waylaid im so diein to see this cha in action dont get me wrong i love rp but so wanna try this fighter out lol   Prayn Vigim: I can't see the map rn   Xar'Tharkas: no[e sounds good nope   Prayn Vigim: waylaid?   Dungeon Master (GM): oops there you go now   Prayn Vigim: do we have a party token?   Xar'Tharkas: attacked on the road yes lol   Roqar: Might meet the Dragon hehe   Prayn Vigim: (ah, gotcha xar)   Dungeon Master (GM): with undead and more ocrs coming up and possible random encounters, you certainly will get to fight   Roqar: first fight we call it?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, as i mentioned someone can be elected here to draw the path the party takes down to Old Owl well   Prayn Vigim: I can do it   Xar'Tharkas: attacked on the way
Prayn Vigim: How slow u want me to go?   Dungeon Master (GM): i'll roll once for each hex traveled for a random encounter   Prayn Vigim: ok, thats 1 hex   Dungeon Master (GM): just draw the complete route first   Xar'Tharkas: that was odd sent one didnt show up sent sec and both showed up at different parts of the chat   Dungeon Master (GM): ok path to the well is noted   Prayn Vigim: 5 hex?   Ullek H.: looks like 5k walk   Dungeon Master (GM): that looks like 6 checks for an encounter it's 5K Per Hex 5 miles   Prayn Vigim: oh thought u meant 5,000 miles at first lol   Dungeon Master (GM): at least 30 mile trek down I thought you meant Kilometers   Rahfen: Idk much about metric system sry I know most of the measurements and conversions, just can't visualize them   Dungeon Master (GM): ok anyways: 1st hex:  6 no encounter 2nd hex:  6   Xar'Tharkas: yup and Prayns doing great job as party lead im more likely to be a silent strong arm then lead and makes sense for lead to control party token   Dungeon Master (GM): No encounter 3rd hex:  2 no encounter 4th hex:  6 no encounter 5th hex:  3   Dungeon Master (GM): no encounter 6h hex:  3   Xar'Tharkas: thats odd again sorry said that a while ago.....my coms going funny   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you make it to old owl well without trouble   Prayn Vigim: cool   Xar'Tharkas: man.......   Prayn Vigim: Was a nat 1 the only chance for an encounter?   Roqar: Ok next week than   Travok: oh my god im sorry   Dungeon Master (GM): I need to either transfer the map to this game or we move over to the other module or we simply stop here and start the encounter next week, up to you   Travok: I fell asleep XDDDD   Roqar: And Prayn owes Roqar :)   Dungeon Master (GM): yes a 1 then an encounter happens   Prayn Vigim: Actually, it sounds like yall were hoping for an encounter. is it ok if we just say we got one, for fun sake?   Ullek H.: lol   Roqar: hehe fine with me   Travok: we gon fight? sure   Dungeon Master (GM): could happen on the way back or anywhere else you travel transmorgifier is not loading in for me to transfer the map to this game   Prayn Vigim: ok   Roqar: aw wellgues we jump there next time   Dungeon Master (GM): ok it's working now ok, we stop here then   Prayn Vigim: ok then, good session yall. cya next week   Roqar: CYA   Prayn Vigim: and yes, roqar, ill repay u l8r lol   Roqar: Not with a damn lime either :D   Travok: OH WE GOING? cool sorry about today XD   Dungeon Master (GM): you guys would likely be needing to camp by the time you got near the well, i'll figure the time of day out later and all so that means more checks during watches   Travok: okay alright Is there anything  Important  that I need to know?
