Help with a macro?

Hey, I’m pretty new to Roll20 but loving the platform, starting to try and speed my games up with various macros. I’ve been unashamedly pinching macros from YouTube that fit my needs but I’ve hit a snag with a dice roller macro. I can’t seem to get it to show the name or the reference to which dice has been rolled. As I say this has been lifted from YouTube so can’t take credit for it but also can’t seem to see where I’m going wrong, it rolls the dice and seems to have a 5e template box but no title or discription? Iv put the macro in question below in case I’m just being simple. Many thanks in advance /w gm &{template:npc} {{normal=1}}{name=}}{{rname=D20}}{{mod=}}{{r1=[[1d20]]|[[1d20]]}} 

You need to confirm you are using the correct sheet for that macro. Each character sheet has its own rolltemplates, and they are all different. One sheet may have an npc template but use completely different structure (no support for the keys named  normal,   rname , and so on above) so it wont work. Also, if it is the right sheet, you might be missing information. You might need something inside the {{name=}}  section, like {{name=My roll}}  (or whatever text you need). We cant give much more help without knowing which sheet you are using.

I'm going to assume this is 5e since you mention you're getting a 5e looking template out of the macro. Not sure which of these it is, I did not even know "npc" was a template - presumably it's calling npcaction but I'm not 100% sure. What is the macro supposed to do? Try this code, it should give you an idea of where things go: /w gm &{template:npcatk} {{always=1}} {{type=Rolling stuff}} {{rname=Rname field goes here}} {{name=name here}} {{r1=[[1d20]]}}{{r2=[[1d20]]}} {{description=Descriptive words and things}} Your code is also missing a curly bracket in the name field, gotta watch for that. Also the {{mod}} field doesn't do anything in the npc templates. edit - no idea what &{template:npc} is - it works with the 5e sheet but gives a different output to npcatk and npcaction. Maybe deprecated? The {{description}} field does not appear to output properly, anyway.

Thanks this is something to work from, in answer to GiGs question it’s meant to roll 2 x 1d20. It does do this but the titles and discriptors don’t appear. I’m hoping to use this along with various others to make  DM quick dice roller macro but as you will gather without the titles and discriptors this will get messy quickly. it may be as simple as I can’t use {template:npc} for it to all work.
