Importing character data from third party tools

First the good stuff:

• Roll20 is easy to learn and quick to start producing maps and content with.
• It also has robust character sheet forms for many different game systems.
• It's generally game system neutral, which is nice.

But, as far as I can tell, it has no means for importing data from third party character management tools like HeroLabs or PCGen. This makes it a pain to type in all that data from HeroLabs into a Roll20 sheet by hand. It would be nice to have a method to import data from text files (like CSV or XML or something) generated from HL or PCGen or whatever and just upload that to Roll20. Or vice versa--to export character data out of Roll20 as a text file that could be loaded into something like HeroLabs.

Or is that a feature only available to subscribers? 

It's not possible for roll20 to do this natively. The fact is, there are hundreds of different character sheets, all of which have different game systems. The vast majority are made by volunteers, who create them to fit a need, with no universal standards for attribute naming. Not to mention that there are multiple apps like pcgen, hero lab, etc., which have different formats and would have to be coded for individually. So there is no, and can be no, universal standard for how to transfer data from a third party sources to roll20. 

Some sheet designers do build in an import feature into their sheets, but such things are very fragile and often require some massaging of the source data to get in the right format, or clean up afterwards to fix the errors.

Pro users do have access to some tools to make homebrew import/export solutions, but its very hard so you dont see any made for community use.
