[LFG] [GMT+10] [D&D5e] Newbie giving it a try

Hi everyone, I'm Dan, 25 M, living in Sydney, Australia, and I'm hoping to give D&D a try. I am primarily interested in how the game encourages creative and sometimes unorthodox solutions rather than just heads on combat, unlike most video games I've played. I heard someone once call the game a 'collaborative story-telling exercise', and I find this concept very interesting. Admittedly, my only experience and knowledge of the game comes from Community, Oxventure, 2 episodes of Critical Role, and Reddit. My knowledge of the technicalities and the terminology might be a bit lacking, and I don't know of any community etiquette and unspoken rules besides what can effectively be summarised as 'be civil' and 'use common sense', but I believe I'll pick these up by experiencing them. As of writing, I am setting up a Discord account and a DnD Beyond account so I can get familiarised with some of the concepts. tldr: newbie hoping to dip his toes in the water
Welcome to Roll20! I hope you find a game or two (or more, I guess, if that's your thing) that you have fun with! Speaking of which: what sort of games are you looking for?  Are you looking for a module (a published adventure such as Curse of Strahd of Tomb of Annihilation)?  These tend to be popular and easy for a DM to run, as they have most everything established already and follow the majority of the published rules. Are you looking for something homebrewed (which is pretty much anything not published, which may include any number of unofficial races, spells, deities, or even house rules)?  There is a potential for more creativity here depending upon who is running it and how they've set up their world and rules. What genre are you looking for?  Standard fantasy?  High or low magic?  Political scheming?  Swashbuckling on the high seas or air?  A frontier adventure with shoot-outs and stagecoaches?  Modern fantasy?  Soaring through space on a ship wooden or metal? Also, like, none of these are mutually exclusive; indeed, talented DMs can take inspiration from all of these and weave them together into a coherent narrative. What kind of schedule are you looking for? Do you want something local to yourself?  Morning, Daytime, Evening?  Weekdays or weekends?  Does any of that matter? Are you looking for something free, or are you willing to pay for a game? Also, there is the "Join a Game" search function, where you can look through listings instead of just posting here. There are always games looking for people, so you might find something that tickles your fancy there, as well. Whatever happens, again, I hope you find what you're looking for, here or elsewhere! Or, you know, if you feel up to it, you can create your own fun and invite others to play it with you! And, you know, this is generally a welcoming and friendly community, so feel free to ask questions. :-)

Thank you for the welcomes and tips! I think just to start off I might be interested in a cliched medieval fantasy setting. Maybe something like a mysterious set of disappearance, since right now I'm a bit more interested in investigating and interacting with npc (or dmpc? apparently that's a term *shrug*) than fighting a dragon head on. Naturally, I am also interested in the modules since those seem to be pretty popular, although, to be honest, the apparent time it takes to complete them is a little intimidating. I think ultimately, I'm hoping for something where actions and decisions have consequences, where players can enjoy and contribute to a robust narrative, and not just end up trying to boringly and mindlessly kill each other and everyone around them. Currently I'm hoping to start sessions around late morning or noon, Tuesdays to Friday, GMT+10, so I guess my next stop will be Tavern Raiders Association.
