Opening Character Sheet for NPC shows another NPC's Character Sheet

I have a reoccurring problem where when I open one NPC's character sheet, it shows another NPC's character sheet.  This happens sporadicly.  Here is a screenshot of me looking at Ezmerelda d'Avenir from Curse of Strand and it showing the character sheet for the "Flying Sword" NPC I had also recently been looking at.  No matter what I do I can't get Ezmerelda's chracter sheet to show again including closing and reopening, and exiting and reentering the game.  Her Bio & Info along with token show correctly.  It is only the Character Sheet tab. Any ideas?

The most likely cause is that A) You were trying to drag a flying sword onto the sheet in an attempt to "equip" the character with a sword, or  B) You were trying to drag a flying sword onto the map and had the bad misfortune to drag it just so  that it overwrote an open character sheet. There is little you can do at this point. You might be able to delete the NPC and import it from a second instance of the game through the use of the character vault. I've never tried it; you might have to assign yourself specifically as the controller of the character in order to do so. I would test on copies of the game. Luckily, copies cost you nothing either in money or storage space.

Just in case my previous post was obscure, dragging a compendium creature over an open character sheet will overwrite the open character sheet. This can actually be a valuable tool, but it really should issue an "Are you sure?" warning.

How can I do this?  I launched a second instance of the game but how do I export the NPC?  I can see the character which is correct but I dont see an option to save or export it.

At the Plus level, your best bet is the Character Vault. Transmogrifier is simpler, but that is a Pro perk. First create a new instance of the Curse of Strahd game. We'll call it Strahd 2. From outside of the game, go to the tool menu and choose "Character Vault. You will see a big blue button that says "Import Existing Character" Choose Strahd 2 and the character Ezmerelda d'Avenir. This will put an instance of her into your vault. in that instance, you will see that it has it's own big blue button called "Export to Game" Choose your original game from the drop down just above and hit the button. This will put a fresh instance of Ezmerelda d'Avenir into your old game. I'e never used the Vault like this before, so I don't know if it will give you an overwrite warning, place a duplicate, or just overwrite the old character. In any case there should be a new copy in there. Let me know how it turns out.
This did work.  Thanks for the suggestion.  It appears to create a duplicate entry of the character.  Clicking the characters name in the module links still points to the original character with the incorrect character sheet, but if you search separately for the character by name, you can find the second instance with the corrected character sheet.  I guess this will work for now.  Very frustrating.  Thanks again!

I forgot about this known bug. The transmogrifier doesn't handle unique IDs properly.
