After a night spent at the Parnast inn, the adventurers meet Wessic near the center of town. He introduces them to the local guard captain, who accepts the explanation that they are here to help with the transfer of treasure. He leads them to a barn where the wagons are being loaded, and the party pitches in to help. They are startled by a bellowing roar from deep in the stables...these stalls hold not horses, but dragon-like wyverns! No one is eaten, though, and soon the captain leads the way to the south end of town. Here they wait, until out of the sky a cloud descends toward them. As it approaches, it becomes clear that the cloud is concealing a giant iceberg, with a castle built on it! This lands at the village, and the treasure wagons are taken inside. The adventurers follow as part of the guard. The wagons are taken a short way inside the castle, then the treasure crates are carried by hand down a stairway and given over to kobolds in an ice tunnel. The adventurers don't wish to start a suicidal battle with so many cult members nearby, but they still need to determine where the kobolds are taking the treasure. Thinking quickly, Mella sends her owl familiar quietly after the kobolds, and Brin turns himself invisible and follows. The kobolds almost catch sight of the owl, but in the end decide all is well and proceed deeper into the iceberg. Brin and the owl are able to follow them undiscovered into a large ice cavern, where huge piles of treasure are sealed under transparent sheets of ice. Clinging to the ceiling of the cavern, jealously watching over the hoard, is a white dragon! They quickly retreat back upstairs to report this discovery to the rest of the party. Meanwhile, the other adventurers have returned to the wagons. Shortly thereafter, Rezmir arrives! The half-black dragon receives a report from the guard captain, then sends him and the transport wagons on their way. They leave the castle, taking Wessic with them. Twinkle Tom approaches Rezmir, quietly telling her that he has important information about Talis the White and her intrigues. She asks him to follow her to discuss this in private, and the entire party does so. Rezmir leads them through a large courtyard, populated by many ogres, and then into her own chambers. Tom makes an effort to convince her that the cult's goal of returning Tiamat to the world will lead only to destruction for all, but she will hear none of it. So instead the adventurers offer their services as new cult recruits. This the half-dragon accepts, assigning them quarters and telling them to make themselves at home in the castle until it arrives at the cult's headquarters at the Well of Dragons. As the conversation ends, the castle shudders as it begins to move...they have taken off! With no immediate way to pursue the treasure, the adventurers turn their attention to exploring other portions of the castle. Many cultists of all races are present, as well as a large number of ogres, so another small group wandering around draws little attention as long as they are circumspect. They find Red Wizards in one tower, and a giant door leading to the largest tower, but choose not to disturb either. Later they find the mess hall, and while eating trade gossip with the cooks. They are very talkative and relate many rumors: the Red Wizards mostly keep to themselves, there is rumor of a vampire that wanders the castle at night, the ogres are very dumb, and the giant Blagothkus controls the castle from the largest tower. By the time the meal is complete, night has fallen. Deciding the time is ripe to pursue the treasure, the adventurers return to the stairway that leads to the ice cave. Several cult guards are present, but Tom convinces them that Rezmir needs their services elsewhere. The adventurers promise to serve as guards in their place, leaving the way clear. They descend the stairway and are soon walking through a ice tunnel where many creatures are frozen as trophies into the icy walls. Brin leads them forward to the large cavern where the treasure horde and the dragon himself await. This is Glazhael, an adult white dragon who has been charged by the cult with guarding the treasure meant for Tiamat's return. He mistakes the adventurers for servants at first, but soon grows more cordial when Tom mentions that they are working on behalf of Talis the White. After some discussion, Glazhael agrees that he will not interfere with the party's actions against Rezmir, since that will benefit Talis' campaign to gain standing within the cult. However, he will not abandon his post with the treasure! In thanks, the adventurers donate a mithril spear to the horde, which he accepts gracefully, and they also promise to send kobolds with food. The party retreats back up the stairway, and are soon relieved of duty by the next guard shift. Deciding that night is the perfect time to strike, they return across the deserted courtyard to Rezmir's chambers. Jamna unlocks the door, Norman slams it open, and they rush inside! The guards are caught completely unprepared. Noram and Luna take advantage of this surprise to shove them into the large magical rug - which Rezmir had warned them about earlier - and the rug envelops and strangles them! Jamna quickly finishes them off. All this was done with impressive stealth, making almost no noise. Thus the party is able to move into Rezmir's bedroom without alerting her or the two guard drakes at her door. The drakes are quickly overwhelmed, but this does finally alert the half-black dragon and she leaps to the attack! Her acid breath catches several of the adventurers, as does her mighty greatsword. But she is badly outnumbered, and after only a few more seconds she is brought down. As Rezmir falls, her body flashes into ash! Only a cult insignia and her greatsword remain. At the same time, Luna hears a popping sound coming from a chest behind her. The chamber lies in ruins, with a fire ignited as a side effect of Brin's attacks raging over desks and bookshelves. The party will need to decide their next steps quickly, before someone comes to investigate...
