Map greyed out in Firefox for one campaign

1401369160

Edited 1401369268
My setup is a bit strange: I use my "GM account" on Firefox ESR 24.5.0 on my laptop screen, and my "Player account" on Google Chrome 35.0.1916.114 m on a widescreen TV for the players. This week, for ONE of my campaigns, when I launch the campaign from Firefox the map remains "greyed out" and I cannot interact with it at all. For all the other campaigns, Firefox behaves normally. (And yes, I tried clearing cache, deleting cookies, and disabling extensions and add-ons.) If I launch that campaign in Google Chrome it works. Problem is, since I'm using one laptop to show both the GM and player screens, I prefer to use separate browsers. Any idea why one campaign wouldn't work and the rest would? I can access that campaign in Chrome, so if it's just a setting I accidentally made somewhere I can undo it. The problem is knowing which setting to change. And here's the ultra-exciting log, just in case: ===== [06:11:08.963] Unknown pseudo-class or pseudo-element '-webkit-scrollbar'. Have you updated Firefox before all this started? If you haven't you could try to see if it will. I see errors but I'm not familiar with those yet.

I made no changes at my end, which is why I'm confused. Especially the "only one campaign fails" bit. I'm afraid it's my work laptop so I'm not permitted to update Firefox until my employer allows me to do so. Updating was my initial take as well. Worst-case scenario I can use a separate Chrome session, but because it's only affecting one campaign I'm looking more for a campaign setting I might have made (Isn't there a "player mode" I might have activated by accident) than a browser glitch. But yes, I'm trying to get permission to upgrade. But I work for a megacorporation so upgrades are SLOOOOOOW...

When did it start or when you noticed it? That might help a mod or dev pinpoint if there was a change on their end.
Try switching Video Tech to "None" under the My Settings tab while you're logged in as the GM and see if that makes a difference. That's a pretty out-of-date Firefox (I think they're on like 29+ now, right?) so that may be the issue...
Aha! LOL! Both Riley D and I found the same thing. (I went to a working campaign and compared settings while you were responding.) Yes. Disabling video tech fixes it. Thanks, all. This is "resolved".
I have been editing my second dungeon page most of the day. I have not been able to make changes since I'm in this weird edit mode. The page is greyed and the only right click context menu I get it Edit->Paste/Undo. I was hoping to run this tonight. I have the latest firefox. I opened the page in chrome and get the exact same thing. I set the Video Text to None and it redraws, but has no other affect. So this seems to be something on the page and just started a bit ago.
Can you tell me what campaign this is?

So you're not experiencing the issue in any other campaigns, just that specific one? I loaded the campaign without issue in Firefox 29 on Mac. What exact version of Firefox do you have? And just to confirm, you're running it with all addons and extensions disabled to test it out? EDIT: I will say, I only joined as a player, so maybe move the player ribbon over to the page with the issue? If you rejoin as player does the problem still occur?
I have Firefox 29.0.1 at work that this was occurring on. I am now home on chrome and it is still doing it. Trying some of the things you suggested now. I moved the player to the second page, the first page is just an entrance screen to start the players in. I then loaded the page, "simple start" and it was grey, then clicked rejoin as player. It was completely black because I turned on the fog. Went back to GM and it is still grey. I will now try turning the fog off. OK now I'm not grayed but I still get the Edit menu in Maps mode. It looks like I can edit my tokens again though. I guess the Fog of War make it not work right when you edit. I'll complete editing and then turn it on before the game.
There is something wrong with the background map on that page. I wanted to replace it with another image, so I was trying to delete it. I could not since all I ever got was the edit menu. I dropped the new image on top and the background is still there but grayed and not removable.
Just to rule out the obvious: 1) Are you sure you're on the right layer? It's possible the map is on a different layer than the one you think it's on. The fact that you can edit the tokens but not the map would point to that. 2) The "graying out" is indeed the Fog Of War feature, but in theory it should not prevent you from editing things...but yeah it does "tint" everything. You can turn that off by editing the "GM Opacity" setting in the Page Settings dialog box. 3) The "Edit" menu you're seeing is the menu you see when nothing is selected. So basically its ounds like you just aren't able to select that one object. See question 1) above, since that's the most likely cause. Just to confirm, all other program features (e.g. the Journal, text chat, etc.) are working fine?
I copied the page and still had the same issue. I could not get rid of the background map image. I created a new page and got it working. I had some difficulty once I got started with characters. I had added a token to the first page and then thought I could just drag their character from the journal to add them to the next page, That does not work. You have to add a token and then set the token to the character from their journal. The circles with the stats were totally not working right. I added HP to one of the tokens in the red stat, but it kept putting 17 in when they only had 12 from their char sheet. I have no idea where it was getting 17. The character sheet for Pathfinder is pretty hard to use. Where does added HP for favored class go? Having to add equipment with all it's stats is going to be a pain. I use pcgen to create a char and then add the info to the sheet but it takes a long time.
Yes, I am not able to select or edit the background image on that page. Yes, I selected maps and background. If I add another image, I can delete that, but the old one is always beneath it.I didn't delete that page, so if you want to check anything on it it's still there.
I think he's asking if you checked other layers like the dynamic lighting layer. It's possible to drop something on one of those too.
I use Roll20 regularly for different campaigns, mostly as a player and this is the first time this has happened to me. I use firefox and it is up to date. Trying to join the campaign "Star Wars: Edge of The Empire" on my campaign list as a player has the entire page grey out. I cannot put in any input after the page fully loads. While the campaign loads I can swap tabs within Roll20 from the chat to the settings but once it has finished loading it locks up and grays out as if it is supposed to be showing a popup or warning. No popup is displayed. This is the only campaign that does this, I can load any other campaign I have already joined in the past without any problems It works properly when using Chrome.
AH! that was it, the background map was on the GM info layer. OK, now it's completely understandable what was going on. A little further up the learning curve. Hopefully I the game will run smoothly Sunday when I try it with a party. There are still issues which I mentioned about the character sheets and their token values.
@Null I think you're issue is more related to this thread: https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/898769/roll20-campaigns-not-functioning-greyed-and-frozen/#post-905450
@Steve glad you got it figured out. I would recommend posting your sheet questions in the Character Sheets forum, since those are pretty sheet-specific the person who made the sheet will be the best person to help you out with that.
Steve B. said: Where does added HP for favored class go? Also trying to figure this out myself. Any help would be appreciated. :)
