I've caught the bug and there's no cure. It's been a long time, but I've been doing my homework and I'd like to commit to a 5E campaign. By mature I just mean I try to be considerate of others and not actively try to annoy people. That said there's nothing wrong with some levity. It is supposed to be fun after all. I've reviewed guides on how to be a good player and have taken them to heart. In retrospect, I think I may have been prone metagaming back in the day, but having seen it done right I'm all about the story and roleplay. I understand the DM / Player dynamic and would like to think I know when to leave it for after the game. I'm still familiarizing myself with the Roll20 tools but I should be able to get the hang of it quickly. My weeknights are generally open so scheduling shouldn't be a big problem. US East Coast. I've invested a lot of time developing a couple of 5E characters I am dying to play. One is fully fleshed out and should be fun and easy to incorporate into your world. In particular, I'd like to try out an Aarakocra Monk of the Way of the Astral Self. So preferably my DM would need to be open to such a thing. I'm open to homebrew but also very interested to engage in some WotC source material. To start I'd like to try things out free. If it pans out I have other friends that would probably love to give it a shot. If the value is there I don't see a problem with making a modest contribution to keep everyone invested.
