Hi Anthony, You can certainly upload webm format animated maps. I've used it for tokens and a map is only a large token. I just resized an animated token to the size of the map. It wasn't that pretty, but it moved. Of course, tokens are generally quite modest in size, not sure how either Roll20 or your upload limit will tolerate a full sized animated map. My tokens were originally produced as gifs but Roll20 converts them to webm format when you upload them. When you have a webm token, you gain additional controls when right-clicking the token. A play/pause control on the radial controls and an item in the drop-down list, Animation , which controls play/pause and looping. So I think the upshot is that you must have the animation file, either gif or webm format , in order to upload it. As far as I can see, Keith is correct, Roll20 has no functionality that consumes linked animations. Not sure if that's any help, but good luck.
