How do I make monsters? (or: "What's the freakin' point of buying the Monster Manual if it doesn't do anything useful?!)

I am seriously regretting my purchase of the DM bundle right now. The main reason I bought it was for the MM. I *thought* it would make it so I could easily add monsters to the game. It does not. I thought it'd make it easy to add tokens to the VTT. Nope. I thought it'd make it so I could just click on the monster's attack on its sheet and have the roll show up in the chat. Nope. So.... what's the point? Thanks in advance! Oh, sortof similar but... what's the point of owning the PHB or DMG either? I don't see any reason to own them if you already own the paper versions.

In the Compendium, search for your monster. Left-click on the name of your monster and drag him onto your map. Now you have his token on your map and the character sheet with clickable attacks and such in your journal.

It literally does all the things you are looking for. Make sure you have selected the right character sheet for your game, otherwise, you won't see their character sheets. But you should just be able to drag and drop from the compendium onto the tabletop to add the monster into your game, and it will create a token as well as a journal entry that has all their stats. Here is a full help article on how to use the compendium and what it provides. https://roll20.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039178694-Compendium#Compendium-BookExpansionSources And here is a link that should explain how to set your character sheet for your specific game, if you didn't do it when making the game: https://roll20.zendesk.com/hc/en-us/articles/360039715753-Game-Management#h_b87bb1e5-28e2-44cf-a6ca-2b0cd2a894c5

Regarding the PHB, you can use it for easy access to all spells as drag and drop to the character sheets, as well as full Charactermancer integration for all PHB content for character building/leveling. It also includes all the other info from the PHB in-game in the Compendium. The DMG will likely be similar, but has not been released yet on Roll20. It should be available this year, as Roll20 has committed to finishing the 5e WotC backlog in 2020.
I am really embarrassed but I'll leave this post up for future generations. Turns out I was just trying to drag the monster directly from the compendium to the VTT. When I did that it created a blank token so I thought I was on the right track. But what I should have done was go to my Journal and use the monster's new entry there. From there I can do all the good stuff like drag-and-drop for tokens and click the sheet, etc. Thank you so much! Oh, and I didn't realize that the DMG hadn't been incorporated into the game yet. That's probably why I can't find it, huh?
