I’m looking for 4 to 5 players for a 5e D&D game to be run on a yet to be determined night, hopefully starting around 6ish PST. I’m hoping to have a session 0 sometime next week and start the first session the week after that. I have run a few campaigns before, and this time I’m running a player driven dungeon of the week campaign. The campaign will take place in and around a single town, Dracef and will center around the efforts of the party and the people of Dracef to save their town. The magical storms that still rage across the continent empower the hordes of undead and further corrupt and mutate the creatures of the land, and keep Dracef cut off from the rest of the world. A magical storm ended the most recent uprising in a horrific fashion, turning most of the lower city into hordes of mindless undead. Resources are scarce, the situation is dire, and the needs of the city are many. It will be up to you and your party to decide what to focus on each week. The sessions themselves will be fairly combat heavy with some opportunities for roleplay both during the week and inside the sessions themselves. In the simplest terms, this is a dungeon of the week campaign set in a small world done in broad strokes. At the end of each session, I’ll describe how the parties actions have changed the city, the party will tell me where they are planning to go next, and I’ll spend the next week prepping that location. D&D is, at its heart, cooperative storytelling and this campaign has been created with that in mind. Most sessions will have multiple encounters, with the party usually facing off against multiple combatants at a time. I run far closer to the intended 6-7 encounters per adventuring day than most other DM’s. I tend to run fairly realistic Npcs in my worlds. They have motivations and beliefs, desires and fears. Zombies will be dumb, goblins will be cowardly but clever. Other groups in the town of Dracef will decide to tackle problems that your party hasn’t dealt with, though perhaps not as well as you could have. Or perhaps better. Who I am as a DM: I put a lot of work into my games, and like to make sure that everyone has a good time. I like running scenarios and dungeons with no set path. I have run a fair number of campaigns before, including a weekly series of oneshots out of a bar I used to work at, and several other online campaigns. I don’t have solutions in mind when I make a dungeon or an encounter. I put together enemies and interesting encounters, write a few notes about their motivations and then place them in the world, for the party to find, hoping that the party will be clever and creative when they run into them. If you want a combat heavy campaign where you can actually use illusion magic, items like ball bearings and careful planning to really help swing the odds in your favor, then I’m sure this will be a great campaign for you. I’m very open to discussing homebrew options, but I also keep a close eye on balance between members of the party. I know the rules, and I have no problems with modifying them, but I do so carefully, because I believe that it is important that my players know what to expect. There is a chance that if I get enough interest that I will be running this campaign for two groups of players at the same time. If I do, it will be concurrently in the same world, with the actions of both parties affecting the situation in the town. Requirements and restrictions: We will be playing on Roll20, and using Discord to communicate over voice, therefore, a microphone is mandatory. Push to talk will be mandatory for players with ambient noise, or who lack headphones. Rule variants: Magic shard enchanting system. Enchant your items with cool effects. You can get a basic idea of what I mean by reading this document. https://docs.google.com/document/d/1Pi93WWPD8EXAWPf57_OAuMTSoyJcwPZP-EzdG-hzYCw/edit Despite the fact that magical storms shake the land, spell casting as practiced by player characters is unchanged. You can use the current UA ranger or the spell point sorcerer if you want to. What kind of players I want Over 18 strongly preferred. I’m not saying you have to be over 18, but I am saying that it will be harder to get into my game if you are under 18. Experience isn’t required. I love showing new players the ropes. They come up with clever solutions, and fresh ideas and I love it. The fastest way to get dropped from my group is to disrespect your fellow players. Don’t be an ass to the other players. And especially don’t be an ass to the other players because of their gender, orientation, religious views or anything like that. I will be dropping players who can’t show up consistently, especially if they don’t send the group a heads up If you are interested in being a part of the campaign please either reply to this post here, or send me a PM answering the following questions. Also feel free to include additional questions. I’ll be getting in touch with you shortly after. 24 hours, at the latest. In your own words, how would you describe yourself as a player? What do you like in a campaign? How much experience do you have playing 5e, D&D in general, and other tabletop games? Extra: If you want to, please give a basic idea of a character you might want to play. This isn’t necessary, and I do understand that a lot of people, myself included like to hear more about a campaign or what the other party members are playing before deciding what to play. If you have any questions, or aren’t sure yet about the game, feel free to post below and I will do my best to answer them.
