Bob mentions of an old haunted manor in the Neverwinter woods, once owned by a paladin knight, which was attacked by a white dragon known as Ashenfrost, when he was away on business. When the paladin returned home, he found his family dead and not able to bear that he could not see his family again he made a deal with a demon and sought out Ashenfrost and killed her. When he returned he cursed the manor so that he could see his family again and they would arise at night. In the end the Paladin went mad and killed himself.   The party decides to go have a look at the haunted mansion, so Bob Zeissen suggests that they go to a hunter’s lodge in the Neverwinter woods, about 20 miles north west of Conyberry, owned by a fellow known as Falcon the hunter.   Sildar Hallwinter has been there and knows the way to the lodge which is about a 9 hour trip from Conyberry.   The party stays over night at the inn and set off for Falcon’s hunter’s lodge around 6 am and arrive around 2 pam. When they arrive this is what they see:   A thin fog surrounds a fortified compound standing in a clearing on the east side of a narrow river. A ten-foot-high log palisade surrounds the compound, whose main building is a two-story stone-and-wood affair with a high-pitched roof, gables, window shutters, and a stone chimney. Attached to the main building is a blocky tower of gray stone, its high roof lined with battlements. Other structures include a two-story stable house and a gatehouse whose flat roof is enclosed by iron railings. A stone bridge spans the river, ending before an oaken door set into the gatehouse’s outer wall. Mounted next to the door is a bell with a short rope hanging from its clapper. Since they arrived coming from the east, they really don’t see the bridge and gatehouse from that side or the bell for that matter.   They follow a path that leads to two roped gates. One leads into a pen area, the other a courtyard. They can hear various farm animals on the property.   Looking for a trap on the pens gate, Roqar did not find one, so she unties the rope and the party enters and follows a path that has various pen areas for horses and other animals on either side of it. Up ahead they see a couple fellows in the south yard area, one is wearing a fur-lined cloak over studded leather armor with black hair and broad shoulders, standing about 6.5 feet tall, with blue eyes, cold and sharp as ice, and sporting a neatly trimmed beard. He is with another younger fellow, whom is probably a stable hand.   Roqar greets them and mentions about the haunted mansion, asking if they knew anything about it.   Falcon says, that it’s Sir Taris’s place, and what a shame about what happened there and that at least he killed Ashenfrost. He mentions that he knows where the place is but currently can’t leave the lodge as nobles are expected to arrive soon.   Falcon questions the party if they had seen any orcs on the way to the lodge, (they haven’t).   Falcon believes they are in league with evil half-orcs that dwell south east of the lodge and that they are usually seen in the company of little stick creatures that roam the woods. The half-orcs are known to dwell in a ruined stone manse overgrown with vines, roughly just 10 miles from the lodge. Tales say that the manse was built by a scholar who studied the elven ruins scattered throughout the Neverwinter woods.   Falcon offers the adventurers a place to stay overnight, in his guest house. It has a barn-like quality. A carpet of straw covers the dirt floor. Arranged about the room are nine cots that come with soft pillows and thick wool blankets. The following morning they leave the lodge around 6 am with 12 year old Pell as their guide and arrive at the manor site around 10 hours later at 2 pm. Along the way they encounter a small group of Cragmaw goblins roaming the Neverwinter woods.   Adventure Time is now May 17 th , at 2:00 pm.(arrival at the manor)   And this ends the gaming session for the day, until next time!   The Adventurers Earned: Campsite: Skeletons (6) = 300 XP   ------- Grand Total: 1,250 XP 300 / 7 = 42.85 XP Each Everyone is at 1,852.88 + 42.85 = 1,895.73 XP  Level 4 reached at 2,700 XP   Loot Found: Short swords (6) and Short bows (6) with quivers of 20 arrows each.   Number of Sessions for current Adventure Module: 29th Session for “Lost Mines of Phandelver / Dragon of Icespire Peak” 06/27/2020 [1st Session start was 10/26/2019]
