Ch. 29: The Adventures Discover a Biology Laboratory!

 Dungeon Master (GM): Hi guys!   Maevis Silverleaf: Hi   Ventris: hi   Dungeon Master (GM): just loading pdfs in here. I see we were last at an alchemical lab here.   Maevis Silverleaf: We walked in and were walking through it   Dungeon Master (GM): yep and you found all you could here so you can move on. So back to the city map.   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright   Dungeon Master (GM): ok the party token shows you had left the building and moved to an intersection just outside the place. So take it from there. green 'X''s mark where you have previously been to.   Phoenix (Cass): Hello   Dungeon Master (GM): so group any suggestions are were the party ought to go have a look? let me check on the time of day here. ok, it is around 8:15 am.   Maevis Silverleaf: Do we go to one of the places that are "Forbidden"?   Dungeon Master (GM): players what do you think?   Ventris: Am i with the party yet or no?   Dungeon Master (GM): not yet ventris we could basically have you bump into the party on the streets here i could have you do a simple 1-2D6 as the party moves along each new section of street and that's where you meet them.   Ventris: Alright just tell me what i need to do   Dungeon Master (GM): ok basically when the party token is moved on the map and placed i'll have you roll a D6 to see if that is where you come across each other. that or you could have Ventris specifically at a bath house or the reptilian zoo.   Devin M.: I'm having loading issues.   Ventris: Bath house is fine lol   Dungeon Master (GM): or visiting the Deathwalker tribe in the city's north section.   Maevis Silverleaf: Do we want to leave this module and explore the Tomb of Tomoachan? hehe   Dungeon Master (GM): ok devin, that happens all the time. I had slowly started to try and reduce duplicate character sheets...instead I use one linked one and copy it now, since it appears to be stable and working now.   Phoenix (Cass): Yeah I loaded into this a lot faster than normal   Dungeon Master (GM): Not yet Maevis! I don't even have that set up at all! Just complete the stuff in this Dwellers module first...after all, you'll want to uhmm, stabilize the city, otherwise you could get entrapped! heh, funny you said that Phoenix as all i did was the mongrelmen section of the city so far! ok so going to an off limits area was mentioned any other sugguestions?   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright We found out many of the Yuan Ti want to bring an evil world destroying god into the world One option we have is kill the Yuan Ti   Dungeon Master (GM): and there are plenty of them here!   Phoenix (Cass): Even as sizable a party as we are I don't think we can exactly take them on in a fight.   Xilicien: Evil can be found in most any race, we would have to purge the world, or even the multiverse of sentient beings, including ourselves, going with that theory.   Dungeon Master (GM): at that charleston heston presses the button   Maevis Silverleaf: Damn you!! Damn you all!! To Hell!!   Dungeon Master (GM): Ha Ha! the bath house is on the east side of the city down one of the side streets I marked the wrong place one session.   Maevis Silverleaf: You did it You damn dirty Yuan Ti So Do we try to get into one of the forbidden places?   Dungeon Master (GM): locations N1 and N5, take your pick party members   Maevis Silverleaf: Fight our way into the Guarded Compound?   Phoenix (Cass): We could sort of hang around one and scout it out I suppose. But walking in blindly wouldn't be good   Maevis Silverleaf: We walked around them cant tell much unless we go inside   Dungeon Master (GM): roll on it 1-3 = N1 4-6=N5   Maevis Silverleaf: rolling 1d6( 6 ) = 6   Alright so we scout out over N% N5 What does N5 Look like?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok when you approach the building here you see there are no windows or doors along the street you are currently on. do you all see the new map???   Maevis Silverleaf: I see the street we are on   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, that's all you should see yes   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright so lets circle the building   Dungeon Master (GM): grab a token and let's see where you go ok you see a single set of double doors on the building now, right in the middle again no windows   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Hey I found the doors"   Dungeon Master (GM): You can go around the building if you wish   Maevis Silverleaf: Any doors or windows here?   Dungeon Master (GM): no sir there appears to be 2 sections of second story to the building however. solid wall along the east side as well.   Maevis Silverleaf: 2 roofs or flat roof?   Dungeon Master (GM): guick look back at the main map can you see how there are to sections on top of the building there? that's the 2nd story of the place.   Maevis Silverleaf: Ok   Dungeon Master (GM): so party members what would you like to do here?   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "We can try to climb up on the roof or try going in the doors?"   Dungeon Master (GM): so apparently the place is solidly constructed.   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "What do you guys want to do?"   Dungeon Master (GM): I should mention it appears the 2nd story has widows on all sides   Xilicien: Are the doors unlocked?   Dungeon Master (GM): you'll have to go find out   Maevis Silverleaf: Did not check them Lets go check the doors then   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Come on Grax, in case their locked"   Dungeon Master (GM): there is a key hole you could pick here   Maevis Silverleaf: First We'll check to see if their locked   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you give the door handle a push but it doesn't open
Maevis Silverleaf: Have Grax our Thief try to open it   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Maevis Silverleaf: BRB need more water   Dungeon Master (GM): ok someone else can roll for grax to pick locks here anyone?   Ventris: i dont see his token   Dungeon Master (GM): just click on Grax and click button #05   Grax Ironcloak the Shield Dwarf Champion / Magsman, attempts to gain entry, by PICKING OPEN a LOCK! Result Whispered to DM   (From Ventris):  OPEN LOCKS Roll:  49 % Needs ≤  52 %   Dungeon Master (GM): ok the lock does click open for Grax, but the doors will not open!   Dungeon Master (GM): the bard can only pick pockets and not locks the party needs to decide on what to do here, since Grax can't open the doors right now, so maybe scope another building in the city like area N1 that was also off limits Grax can try again the next day. make a decision or i may make wandering monster checks or something!   Xilicien: And my knock spell isn't prepared, so that's not an option.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Xilicien: We could try the windows as someone suggested earlier.   Dungeon Master (GM): yes and thus you will need to climb and remember this is a city there are folks moving about during the day especially, the random checks are for the ones that would give you trouble. so go ahead and move to area N1? Devin? Phoenix?   Maevis Silverleaf: Back   Dungeon Master (GM): Ventris? ok Grax couldn't open the door so move to N1 now Maevis?   Maevis Silverleaf: Sure try N1   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Ventris: seems kinda dead lol, and idk how much authority i should have since im not in the party yet   Maevis Silverleaf: We ca have Grax check the doors here   Dungeon Master (GM): I know ventris, player responses the last 3 sessions has been really slugglish that i guess i'll will have to make more wandering monster checks and or give penalties to rolls if a player doesn't respond and someone else has to make them. when it comes to group decisions from now on i'm just going down the partly list and requiring every member to give input or suffer roll penalties ok so grax moves to the nearest door and has a look   Grax Ironcloak the Shield Dwarf Champion / Magsman, attempts to FIND or REMOVE a TRAP! Result Whispered to DM   (From Grax):  OPEN LOCKS Roll:  44 % Needs ≤  52 %   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you pick the lock open Grax! will you have a look inside now?   Maevis Silverleaf The Half Elf Bard Says, "Come on guys, lets go in"   Dungeon Master (GM): You see all sorts of alchemical and even dissecting equipment on the various tables here.   Xilicien: A lab, then?   Dungeon Master (GM): it certainly appears to be yes!   Maevis Silverleaf: Anyone else here?   Dungeon Master (GM): 30 seconds for someone to respond to Maevis or i roll for wandering monsters   Ventris: Im here   Maevis Silverleaf: we search it then   Dungeon Master (GM): ventris it is ok for you to just pick up a token of someone not here for the night   Xilicien: Oh, I thought he was talking to the DM.   Dungeon Master (GM): so you can get more involved ok the building curves to the north on it's west end   Ventris: DOes anyone wan to check the alchemical equipment for anything useful?   Maevis Silverleaf: Loks like company   Xilicien: Yes, perhaps...   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, what you see up ahead are huge vats.   Maevis Silverleaf: Do they smell?   Xilicien: I doubt it.   Dungeon Master (GM): hmmm, i'll say there is a sort of chemical smell about the place. will any go have a look at the vats?   Maevis Silverleaf: How tall are they?   Dungeon Master (GM): i'll say they are big enough to fit a large sized creature inside of them.   Ventris: Hmmm, any ladders around so we can look down into them   Maevis Silverleaf: What are they made of?   Dungeon Master (GM): they are about 3 ft high and made of wood   Ventris: Thats not bad   Maevis Silverleaf: Think Xill wanted to look over the Alchemy stuff   Dungeon Master (GM): ok the lab stuff is geared more towards biological research as you have a closer look at the equipment.   Xilicien: I doubt I have the equipment to properly identify it, but I can give it a quick once-over.   Maevis Silverleaf: BRB sorry   Ventris: Try to look for a research book or the notes   Xilicien: Yes, notes that might do. Is there a desk nearby?   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you do find some of both all detailing what appears to be yuan-ti anatomy of the various different types of yuan-ti. Some of the work look like directions on how to construct the creatures.   Ventris: Interesting   Xilicien: Hmm.   Dungeon Master (GM): no desk, just tables   Maevis Silverleaf: Back   Dungeon Master (GM): ok anyone want to have a closer look at a vat?   Ventris: SUre I will look closer
Dungeon Master (GM): ok what you find is that the vat contains what looks to be a yuan-ti halfblood in an early stage of growth, floating under some form of liquid.   Ventris: Hmmm, use the butt of a spear to try to pull them out of the liquid enough to look   Xilicien: Gross.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, you do that and can have a closer look. the creature does not respond   Ventris: Let it go back into the vat and lets move on   Dungeon Master (GM): alright where do you move to?   Ventris: lets head north   Maevis Silverleaf: North   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, and please move a token so i see where you go! as you make your way north past the other vats, you see purebloods and abominations as well, all in their various different configurations. all in various stages of growth.   Ventris: I assume don't poke a hole in the vats?   Grax Ironcloak The Shield Dwarf Fighter / Thief Thinking  So these damn things are made by experiments, not by regular means   Ventris: So many vats   Dungeon Master (GM): there is a strange looking object near the center door of the place, looks like some sort of mound   Maevis Silverleaf: Is the mound made of something natural?   Dungeon Master (GM): hmm, will need to look at the monster manual on that so hold on. ok, it's about 5 feet high and 2 feet wide and looks like a statue of a roper creature. a cigar shaped creature with a gaping maw and 6 tentacles.   Ventris: Keep away from it   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Maevis Silverleaf: Sstay the F away hehe 3 doors on the right?   Dungeon Master (GM): it does see you and starts to move towards you but slowly yea plus a few doors to your left   Maevis Silverleaf: Roll Init?   Dungeon Master (GM): if you wish to confront the creature yes or you can just run off!   Maevis Silverleaf: But then we cant check the doors   Ventris: Id say run, if its slow no reason to fight it   Dungeon Master (GM): well you do know which door to run out of without a problem...hopefully   Maevis Silverleaf: I guess we run then   Dungeon Master (GM): how about you devin, fight or run?   Ventris: We can just keep away and try doors further down or we can lead it away with someone while the others check doors   Dungeon Master (GM): well what do you think meavis and Devin about what Ventris said?   Maevis Silverleaf: I think we can do that its moving towards us now, run around check a door or 2 run off run back hehe rather not split off   Xilicien: yes, avoiding seems like a good idea, right now anyway.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so in avoiding where do you go? to the unlocked door and out or try a different door? the tentacles looks to have a ten feet reach   Xilicien: Is the unlocked one the one we came in through?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes it is   Maevis Silverleaf: I would say wait for it to move aways away from the right doors run around it and check those doors   Xilicien: That one seems like the safest option, since we already know where it leads.   Dungeon Master (GM): and that it will open remember it takes like 10 minutes to pick a lock....i could roll a D10 on that for this case   Ventris: hmmm, worth it i think we can just kite it around   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so if you are moving to a different door let's see where you go here. ok make a pick lock check as the door is locked   Grax Ironcloak the Shield Dwarf Champion / Magsman, attempts to gain entry, by PICKING OPEN a LOCK! Result Whispered to DM   (From Grax):  OPEN LOCKS Roll:  2 % Needs ≤  52 %   Dungeon Master (GM): it will take you  8  minutes to pick it   Maevis Silverleaf: Ok BRB   Dungeon Master (GM): he would get there within that time ok   Ventris: hm darn   Dungeon Master (GM): so Grax is still working with the lock when you see the creature is getting dangerously close, what do youdo?   Ventris: yell and draw its attention, and scoot away to lead him away   Xilicien: Magic missile.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you can fire that off if you wish   Maevis Silverleaf: Back   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so grax can continue to pick at the lock as coal draws him away   Xilicien the Enchanter, cast the MAGIC MISSILE Spell at Storoper #01 - NB1, the enemy! Each missile unerringly strikes it's target causing 1d4+1 points of damage.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok so you hit for 14 points of damage!   Ventris: nice!   Dungeon Master (GM): it nows heads after Xillicien   Ventris: run boy run   Xilicien: Now I shall flee toward the other portion of the party who may help deal with it.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok let's say it follows Xil south as Grax finishes opening the lock and opens the door. it opens to the outside   Maevis Silverleaf: Grax closes the door and goes up to the next one   Ventris: open the door and look inside?   Dungeon Master (GM): it just goes back outside Ventris   Ventris: oh ok

Result Whispered to DM   (From Maevis Silverleaf):  OPEN LOCKS Roll:  24 % Needs ≤  52 %   Dungeon Master (GM): ok it would take you  2  minutes to open and you do unlock it   Maevis Silverleaf: open it   Dungeon Master (GM): it also goes back outside   Ventris: thinking this is it   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright he looks out and sees the other doors   Dungeon Master (GM): ok let's say the creature chased the other party members back outside ok you see the creature turns the bend from the south coming back up towards Grax, Maevis and Coal.   Ventris: Lets just run and close the door behind us   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you do so the creature remains inside   Maevis Silverleaf: Is this a wall where Grax is now or is it open?   Dungeon Master (GM): it's a wall   Maevis Silverleaf: Do we see any holes in the ceiling to the 2nd floor? How about # 10 Warehouse next to the temple?   Dungeon Master (GM): no holes visible the lab was fixed up Devin and Ventris do you want to go check out the warehouse at N10?   Ventris: Sure i go check it   Dungeon Master (GM): ok   Xilicien: I would be willing to investigate, but perhaps not tonight (for me) It's getting late & I could use some sleep.   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, we can stop right here then, let me move to the warehouse map in the meantime   Maevis Silverleaf: Alright CYA next week   Devin M.: Bye everybody.   Maevis Silverleaf: G night   Dungeon Master (GM): you notice a yuan-ti guard here   Maevis Silverleaf: Talk or fight next week   Dungeon Master (GM): alright ok guys thanks for playing tonight!
