Adjusting a map item size manually

I’m sure I’m not using the right terminology but if I drag a map onto the plain white grid background, is there a way to resize it without dragging from the corners?   I have a physical disability and it’s difficult for me to resize these items properly with the mouse. If I was able to manually enter some numbers for the item dimensions instead it would be a lot easier for me.   Thanks
You can do that, however it won't automatically move to fit the available space, so I don't know that it would work as you'd still need to drag it around to get it positioned correctly after. To manually change its size, first make sure that both it and you are on the Map Layer, then right click on it, choose Advanced, and then Set Dimensions. It asks for the dimensions in pixels, so you'd need to do the math to figure out how many pixels you need in total (70 pixels per square).

There's a third-party extension called VTTES which has some QoL improvements, including some auto-resizing of maps. I normally wouldn't suggest it here since it's completely unsupported and nothing to do with the Roll20 team, but if it makes your life easier then it's worth the suggestion. It does make a bunch of other changes to the default canvas which you may need to disable. This is use-at-your-own-risk software and completely unsupported by Roll20. I only suggest it because I've used it and (personally) believe the software is in good faith. If the default behaviour of the tabletop is making your life difficult, this could help. There's a right-click menu for artwork where you can choose the dimensions, or an auto-fit option where it'll stretch it to the canvas size. Again - this is totally unsupported by R20 so if you choose to use the extension, you won't get any support in these forums.

Tom - Dakota provided the solution (key in the image dimensions), but the root problem is that the map must be resized at all. This should not be necessary. There's a suggestion thread in the forums that asks for a way to drop items onto the TT at their original size (e.g. so you won't have to resize the map). Here's the thread if you'd like to read it and add your vote :D. I had not considered this as an accessibility issue, but it's one more reason to improve the image placement process: <a href="https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7622106/drop-original-size-art-asset-onto-the-tabletop-from-art-library/?pageforid=7622106#post-7622106" rel="nofollow">https://app.roll20.net/forum/post/7622106/drop-original-size-art-asset-onto-the-tabletop-from-art-library/?pageforid=7622106#post-7622106</a>

Unless the image dimensions are specified by the marketplace creator, there is no such thing as "actual size". Roll20 uses an arbitrary 70 pixels per grid unit (most commonly 5 feet, but by no means universal). A map creator may have decided that 5 feet is represented by 72 pixels, 96 pixels, 140 pixels, 300 pixels, or a number just grabbed out of the air. There is a long term project to have marketplace creators tag older images with their intended display size, but I do not know where it stands. Roll20 could have every image come in at 1 pixel equals 1 pixel upon drop, but most tokens are double resolution or more so they look nice when zoomed in. Having images drop at 1:1 would mean that all tokens would come in at double size or more. Hence the need to tag intended display by gird unit. This has not been achieved yet, but I have been told by many folks who have reason to know that it is a work in progress.
Set the grid size to 1 and the cell size to 14, normal tokens will be set to 5x5 as is usual. You will get your tokens very close regardless of how the grid on the actual map is. Of course hide the grid lines by setting the opacity to zero. In addition it makes it easy to set the size of smaller and larger tokens.

This seems to have me on the right track :-) Tom
