[Feature-Suggestion] Library Access even in other campaigns (no GM rights) to avoid duplicates in Library!

If you have a huge library accessible in Roll20 with a lot of images and want to reuse a specific character image in another campaign you have to upload this exact image again thus having a duplicate in the library! To avoid this, allow players access to their library always and in every campaign! Maybe with the option for the SL to allow / disallow players using other images / maps for the campaign by just dragging those from there library to the map.

Your library is shared across all your campaigns. You do not need to re-upload the same image twice.

Then tell me how to access my library when in another campaign where I have NO GM Rights. I have no access to it since on the right the tab Library is missing! If I am GM, you are right! I can access Library whereever and whenever I want. But NOT in other campaigns!

Proof (I am Player in this campaign):

I didnt realise you were asking for library access in other people's campaigns. You're right that would be quite handy.

For a couple images (if GM has Plus): Creating a character in one of your campaigns with that image set as the avatar, or default token, then using the Character Vault to move it to the Game is the method I use. Be sure to set the character to all for in journals and control—you have a different player is in each game so won't be able to access it otherwise.

For many images (If GM has Pro): have the GM create a second game and co-GM you. You can then set up whole maps with your images. The GM can then transmogrify the page to the regular game.

Is that technique in the Stupid Tricks thread Aaron? If not, it would be a good addition.

It would definitely be a good addition! That trick seems to be a good workaround, BUT that for EVERY campaign (@The Aaron)? Also, what if neither GM nor Player has Pro or Plus?

Situation, which lead me to this suggestion: a GM of mine has lost his old account and re-opened the campaign with a new one. For campaign a (that got deleted) I uploaded an image to the character sheet which I wanted to use again! Since Library access is missing for players, I had to reupload the image and thus having a duplicate in my library now! (NOT good for FREE Users, only having limited space!)

If the original image file is uploaded to be used in a campaign the you can no longer access why not delete it and eliminate the duplicate?

If your GM hasn't got Plus or Pro (and isn't running an official module that has Character Vault access enabled regardless), you're kind of out of luck. Either send the image to your GM, or have every one promoted to GM for a session zero to set up characters, or live with the duplication. Deleting the old image is certainly a way to go is you know it's no longer referenced.

@The Aaron,

well, that's what I always did. But it is kinda annoying to say the least! IF it WOULD be possible to implement Library Access to ALL Campaigns - whether you are Player or GM, why not implement it? Maybe give the GM an Option to disable it. But it'd be a very nice to have feature!

I think it would be better to post this over in the Suggestions forum...

@Rabulias

You may be right! Can you move it?

Only a moderator can move a thread to a new forum. You can try reporting your first post (you won't get in trouble) and request a mod to move the thread, or you can just start over on the Suggestions forum.

Opened a New Thread in Suggestions Forum and linked this Thread. I really hope that this will be implemented as it should not be that big of a deal...
