so in world making for my home brew, I have a few shops I need to make up. I began thinking, I wish I had a table to randomly generate the items in a shop. Then just keep it as part of a persistent world. Any ideas on the tables?
Well, personally I just made a GDrive sheet for that, threw in a ton of generic "objects" (like, say bleeding edge weapons, advanced weapons, heavy weapons, basic toolkits, survival gear etc) then used categories and some random numbers generated through the use of scripts to set up shops. (it helped that it was a sort of post-apoc world where everything was barter based, so the stores varied wildly)
Write up a list of items, add to it as you think of more (take a notebook with you to work even). Make a "table" in a handout (that only you can see), with a column for your roll and a column for the items: # Item Price 1 Boots 3 2-4 Shoes 2 5 Belt 2 6 scabbard 4 If you are looking for sites on the web, you can put a link in a handout that opens in a new window. Pop up a generator, get the results. Tell the players or copy and paste it into a new handout, named after the store you told them it was.
Yeah... for armor and weapons I came with a random % of what chances there would be of them having normal or MW versions and googled a random generator to give me some ideas for random magic items. Not sure how i'm going to handle other things like wands potions and scrolls. It might just depend on how i feel at the time.
Wizardawn has a web page full of random items for many different milieu: <a href="http://www.wizardawn.com/rpg/index.php" rel="nofollow">http://www.wizardawn.com/rpg/index.php</a>
