NOW FULL Hello! I am your potential future DM! I am looking for about 4-6 players to run an experimental D&D 5e setting! I say experimental due to the overall concept for the setting being rather unique (as far as I am aware). Both myself and you as the player will be fumbling a bit to get our baring of exactly what the setting entails. To be more specific, the concept is that the players are tiny imaginary beings that are a part of an imaginary world parallel to the real modern world. For size reference, the average D&D human will be about 2in tall in the real world. Only real-world humans with highly active imaginations (usually children) or sometimes animals can see and interact with you. All this in addition to typical D&D creatures like dragons, beholders, etc. scaled down appropriately. Real world beings without a highly active imagination cannot notice imaginary beings and will rationalize away any strange occurrence such as drawers opening on their own or missing items. Real world humans (Called titans by imaginary beings) that can interact with the imaginary world are borderline gods because they can also imagine things into the imaginary world itself. As a matter of fact, most things in the imaginary world were either created by a titan or quantumly created by imaginary beings exploring areas previously untouched by their world. For sake of simplicity, all the imaginary worlds will contain typical D&D creatures and mechanics interacting with one another, with some extras thrown in here and there. With this concept being experimental, I suspect it will be either super fun or utterly bomb. The idea is that the DM and players will be working out what is in this world and how it works. This game will be almost entirely theater of the mind, which I find very fitting due to the theme. STORY The story premise is simple. The brother & sister titans of the imaginary area of a home have disappeared for a few years. Thus, the area must deal with the denizens that appear as a result, demons, corruption, and inner cultural turmoil. I will not go beyond explaining this since we will have to feel out the setting before I can figure any more details. INFO -Starting time will be determined once I get at least 4 players applying to join that have similar schedules which I am available for. -Stats will be 4d6 drop the lowest. If you get less than 70 points total, you can reroll. -Background will be the custom background rule in page 125 of the PHB -You will roll for gold and buy your items. -All PHB and Volos classes and races are allowed. Anything outside of them you will have to link to me for approval. -I allow feats. -Leveling will be XP based -Games will last between 3-4 hours, more if we really want to keep going and I have content to use. -As lighthearted as the game can be, do not be surprised if it gets dark with mature themes. -I will be accepting 4-6 players depending on how many I feel are well suited. -Being accepted has two stages. First, I approve your request to join (depending on questions below) then add you as a friend on Discord to talk in voice to get to know you! If I feel we click and 3+ other players that I have accepted fit your time schedule, I will message you back to invite you to a Discord and Roll20 server! -I will be accepting players within 1 week assuming I have enough. Otherwise, I will extend the player search by a week until I have all 4-6 players. REQUIREMENTS -Discord -A functioning Mic -Roll20, its free! (Just to keep track of things and speed up gameplay. We will still be using theater of the mind). HOW TO JOIN DM me or post here the following information. · How much experience do you have with D&D? · What times are you available to play (US EST)? · What is your personal preference for Roleplay/Combat ratio? · What sort of experience do you hope to get out of this? · What sort of character would you like to play as? (please tell me about your CHARACTER. Not just your class and race). Hope to play with you soon :D
Ooh boy, this gives me some Borrowers vibes! Sounds fun! I've got at least 3 years of DMing experience, 1.5 years of player experience, all of which uses 5e I'm available from a 7pm EST start time to even as late as 1am EST Personally I'd like a nice 70-30 ratio of roleplay to combat; I'd like combat to actually Mean something, instead of randomly generated trash mobs that serve only for grinding exp. I'm hoping for fun first and foremost! I want to have a few laughs and get to know people, come out of my shell a bit. To be honest, I need a bit more info on the world to really get a good feel for what I'd like. I could honestly play anything at this point. I'm hoping with more info that inspiration will strike and I'll get something together that'd mesh well with the others in the group. The premise would make it easy for a fae-like temperament or someone that deals in trickery.

· I've only just started playing D&D but have played wargaming tabletop. I also do theater of the mind role play with kids at the library for story time. (I'm a librarian). · I'm available 7pm Eastern on Tues, Wed or Thurs. · 60/40 rp to combat. Still figuring this out. The important thing I want is a STORY. My first D&D games have been Lost mines and Icespire Peak and I have to say I find Icespire comparatively boring because there is so little cohesive story. · I want to have the sense of being in another world experiencing important events. · Given the idea of an imaginary world and a real world, maybe a character with a sense of duality or wrongness about the world, kind of like Neo in the Matrix not accepting the reality around him. It might be a bit meta, but maybe someone with an existential crisis who thinks there must be a greater purpose to life than adventuring around.
I am old.  Reliable.  Pandemic issues have very little impact on my schedule.  I will be there on time, ready to play.  Don't hesitate to send me a message here if I can clear up any questions. /smitty · How much experience do you have with D&D? Minimal with DnD.  Never over Level 3.  Familiar with low-level 5e mechanics but not spellcasting.  Familiar with Roll20 Charactermancer and tabletop functions, mostly.  Have used Discord for sound. Thousands of hours on text-based roleplaying games called "MUDs" (Multi User Dungeons).  The MUDs that I played required players to stay "In Character".  Those MUDs had interesting combat, including tank+spellcaster+healer tactics, but were not about "winning".  They were about immersion, teamwork, and camaraderie. Text-based MUDs are theater-of-the-mind. · What times are you available to play (US EST)? Monday    4PM - 3AM EST Tuesday   4PM - 3AM Wednesday not available Thursday  4PM - 3AM Friday    3PM - 3AM Sat & Sun not available · What is your personal preference for Roleplay/Combat ratio? 65/35?  Historically, I've done well in In Character environments.  RPers routinely sought me out to include me in whatever drama was happening, but I'm NOT an All Star dramatic roleplayer who orchestrates plots.  I'm supportive and don't piss people off. Combat is fun, fosters teamwork, and provides RP hooks.  However, it's especially satisfying when combat situations are resolved without violence.  If combat becomes the centerpiece of gameplay, that's too much combat. · What sort of experience do you hope to get out of this? I'd hope to make an impact on your experiment.  Making something work is fun.  Regardless of your experimental world, these items will contribute to my satisfaction... - Immersion - Teamwork - Success & Failure - Mix of mostly happy times with a few significant downers. - Consistency - weekly game - Experience with 5e & Roll20 · What sort of character would you like to play as? First choice:  A Tank.  He failed miserably in a combat mission where he was responsible for the death of his only friend whose sister, a love interest, will no longer speak to him.  That failure also resulted in the presumed death of his mentor, whose body was never found.  There would be more hooks subject to your input. I'd be happy to try any party role except a Healer.  Would require patience from DM and other players to become fluid with spellcasting.
I have only so-so 5e experience. I've played with fate reforged rules with a group for 6 years, and I'm just starting to dm that same group in 5e, so I'm becoming very familiar with it and roll 20.  My availability is definitely going to be best on saturdays (all day), as this is my last year of uni. Other than that I can be available about 8pm EST (maybe as early as 7) any weeknight except Tuesdays.  I feel like in the ideal world combat will be roleplayed, but I'm not that good. I like a good chunk of roleplay, 60/40 or more roleplay.  I'd love to just have fun and feel some inspiration. At the same time I like to feel like there's a solid story being built and that our decisions have real effects on the game world.  I'm fairly open in terms of class preference. I think a sorcerer would be pretty fun, or a monk, plus I always love coming up with bardic inspirations. Whatever character I choose I like to be somewhat complicated. I'm never a full paragon of virtue or a edgy murder-hobo. I try and act like whatever character I choose, plus an extra bit of dry humor.
