D&D 5E by Roll20 macro issue; NPC sheets no longer rolling damage rolls without attack checkbox.

In the past, I used to do a neat little trick with the NPC sheets where the sheets would auto roll damage on a saving throw as long as I determine the damage, and uncheck the attack box. This is an example of one way I'd set up the macro to auto roll the damage as a saving throw. It worked perfectly up until some time this week (might have been earlier, not sure when its topped functioning). I would of course, uncheck the Attack checkbox afterwards so that no attack roll is rolled while rolling the damage. However, once I click the ability now, I get this: The text is still laid out in the chat as normal, but the damage roll that's associated with the ability no longer gets auto rolled as it used to with my little attack checkbox trick, and I'll now need to manually roll the damages of saving throw abilities whereas up until a week ago, I didn't need to. Does anyone know what happened? Or if there is a macro fix for this current issue I (and I'm sure others who use this rolling trick I do) am experiencing.
I used the exact same trick and it suddenly stopped working a few days ago with the latest update to the NPC sheet.  Would really love it if it could be fixed - saves tons of game time.  No idea why they changed it...
from reading other posts, my understanding is that some people thought that the attack template (called from an ability...) should only be successful if a hit was rolled (IDK if i got that right). anyway i think things have been fixed now, but i had to duplicate some creatures for it to be fixed on several of them. just did this (screenshots), was it how it used to be? also i just add the line rolls into the text if it has the dice roll listed. it's also how i have magic missile setup with 3 X dice roll damage, because that's how we always play.  not setup as 'attack' setup as attack setup as a line roll with recharge added in
you could also add the damage line roll into the title of the ability, or even the recharge roll directly into the title - you call it, see you dont make the 5 or 6 and move on damage in title recharge roll in title
Ooooh, that works, Stavros.  (And, honestly, probably a much better way than I was using before).  Really appreciate the help!  THANK YOU!!!

At the time of this posting, the change to the D&D 5th Edition by Roll20 Sheet has not been fixed. It is rare for changes too be made or pushed over the weekend, though. They usually have to be something catastrophically game breaking.

Stavros said: from reading other posts, my understanding is that some people thought that the attack template (called from an ability...) should only be successful if a hit was rolled (IDK if i got that right).  This is not exactly what I asked for. I asked for the description to be moved from the attack template to the damage template, because attacks that have an effect only have the effect happen on a hit. I asked for other use cases (such as an action that does not have an attack) to have the same result as before. I really like this use of rolling damage without an attack roll. Even though it was probably an unintended behavior, it is really a nice way of doing it.  Another way to do it would be to give the NPC a "spell" and put "at will" (or whatever is appropriate) in the innate spellcasting field for the spell. Then you get damage and a calculated saving throw.
