Hi players! You can introduce yourself and your character here. I'm planning to start PCs off in the Silver Spoon tavern in the village of Fulscarp Manor. Recent rumours speak of evil emanating from within nearby Fort Skulnar...
Please make a level 1 character or choose a pre-made one from the links on the blog page - planning to start once I have three+ players.
Hi All I'm Tim, and my character is a human monk named Erasmus Bos (rhymes with close). My character sheet should be viewable on D&D Beyond here: https://ddb.ac/characters/33712063/JOI9xs (hope that works)! See you in a bit! :)
Brill - thanks Tim! works!
Daniel's PC Grey the Wizard https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/33288921/r0CndF
Hello, I'm Iris and my character is a human fighter named Ivor Holt. https://ddb.ac/characters/33713219/lTkgo6

Next game scheduled for Sunday August 16 6:30PM GMT+1 - hope to see you there!
Hello Everyone! I am Kenny and revisiting D&D (not played since I was at school!!) - after watching many Youtube videos (especially Critical Role), I am excited to get back into playing. Have been trying to join my local group in London but the meets have all been cancelled due to the pandemic, so I am happy to join you all! Is it possible that I use the pre-generated "Half-Elf Bard" character from your link: http://www.digitaldungeonmaster.com/uploads/1/4/0/2/14029933/5e_lvl_1_half_elf_bard.pdf - is this OK?
Hi Kenny! Yup that should be fine - we had 4 players today, and space for a 5th. We can introduce your character start of next session.
Simon N. said: Hi Kenny! Yup that should be fine - we had 4 players today, and space for a 5th. We can introduce your character start of next session. Brilliant, Thank You so much - I will name my Bard "Syrus" :) I am new to Roll20 also, will do what I can learn how to use it in the next few days... apologies in advance if I need some support on Sunday!
Hi Kenny Roll20 is fairly straightforward, we're using text chat so it's just like WhatsApp etc. but with accompanying maps. Look forward to meeting Syrus on Sunday! 😁
Like Tim says, if you can text (and type /roll d20 - or hit the dice button) you'll be fine. :) You can go in the game any time and play around to see how it works.
hi are you still accepting players or are you full?
Christian L. said: hi are you still accepting players or are you full? Hi Christian - I don't want to limit the number of players per se, but I want to keep each session group to 3-5 players. We had 4 players yesterday and have added one, but one may have dropped I think. If you can play on Sunday 6.30pm then I suggest come along with a level 1 PC, and we can see how the numbers are. I'll use posting in this introduction thread for priority order of joining for players who have not played yet.
I've added some more detail to the campaign web page at http://frloudwater.blogspot.com/2020/08/faerun-adventures-beginner-5e-d-game.html, and listed Kenny's new Bard PC Syrus. I'm planning to track PC current hit points, hit dice, and experience points on the blog.

Thanks Tim and Simon for your replies last night, much appreciated! Just looking at the chat from this week's session to try to play catch up... How do I load up my character sheet? Trying to follow chat but cannot see function to upload.... or @simon are you happy to upload the pre-gen half-elf Bard character that you listed and name him Syrus? (I know I still have to give him a back story...)

(I know I still have to give him a back story...) Hi Kenny - I find wrestling with the electronic character tools a pain, so I'm just planning to track PCs manually - I have a note of Syrus's stats, and there is a virtual mini outside the tavern you should be able to move around. :) I made these notes for Bards on the campaign web page - http://frloudwater.blogspot.com/2020/08/faerun-adventures-beginner-5e-d-game.html Bard - Bards are relatively common, and their entertainments are popular throughout Damara. Many goodly Bards are members of Spysong, a spy network in service to the Paladin-Duke Gareth Dragonsbane of Bloodstone. Evil Bards may be members of the Thieves' Guild, or even spy for the Citadel of Assassins.
Hey @kenny If you've been watching CR, you no doubt know about D&D Beyond (You've got the perfect warlock... :D). It should be possible to recreate the pregen on there to help you track your stuff ('cause you're so disorganised... :D). You can find some of our characters' sheets earlier in the thread.

Thank You both for your reply and tips - much appreciated!! @TIM: I have taken your advice and re-created my character sheet on D&D Beyond - am a bit of a technophobe so it took me a while to navigate myself around.... but apart from uploading a new profile pic (somehow it comes up as error tonight), and the background to Syrus (which I will do tomorrow) it would be completed and all info transferred from paper! @SIMON: Please see below link my digital Character Sheet via D&D Beyond below (feel free to update to this link in the campaign description page) - I noticed another mistake in the pre-gen: as Half-Elf I get an ability score increase on Charisma +2, and two others +1 and the latter 2 were not determined on the sheet, so I added +1 to Dex and Constitution instead. Hope these are all OK?
Sounds good Kenny - I don't see any link yet though?
Simon N. said: Sounds good Kenny - I don't see any link yet though? OF COURSE I forgot to post the link (typical!!) - see below: https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Styleguru/characters/33843006 ...I have changed one of my cantrips - taken out "light" and replaced with "Thunderclap" - didn't know that option was available until I saw on the spell book menu!

OK - note that thunderclap's range is 5' (though it can be heard 100' away) and it hurts everyone adjacent to you, including allies. Handy if you are surrounded by enemies though! :) I'm guessing this involves the Bard clapping their hands together *really* loudly, or strumming something awful on their lute... I'll allow PCs to use Elemental Evil spells like Thunderclap - see https://media.dnd.wizards.com/EE-Players-Companion_0_0.pdf for more.

I have now updated the background to my character in case it is any helpful to you - think I am finally ready to go....? Looking forward to playing tomorrow night and meeting everyone properly! :)
Thanks Kenny! Forgive my ignorance guys, is there a way to view a PC's background on D&D Beyond? I can't see anything.
Simon N. said: Thanks Kenny! Forgive my ignorance guys, is there a way to view a PC's background on D&D Beyond? I can't see anything. Hi Simon If you create a campaign on D&D Beyond, we can join it. I'm pretty sure you get to see the full character sheet (incl. backstory etc.) as DM. Hope that helps!

@Kenny just realised you rolled d10 not d8 for your hit die recovery, so I'm taking off 1 hp from the roll putting you on (edit) 1+9 = 10/10.
Hey All! I'm Jake and this is my very first time trying out D&D (and tabletops in general) Here's the character sheet for my Human Rogue, Sergor: https://www.dndbeyond.com/characters/34029527 Looking forward to the session tomorrow!

Hi all, new to this but have been studying the Player's Handbook and other core books quite a lot so hopefully should be able to hit the ground running. Here's my character, a Half-Elf Cleric, so hopefully I can bring some much needed healing/support and fancy book learning to the adventure! https://www.dndbeyond.com/profile/Redmoss2/characters/34012197 PDF : www.dndbeyond.com/sheet-pdfs/Redmoss2_34012197.pdf
Hi Jake & Red, thanks for joining us & welcome to the game - hope you enjoy it! Red could you link Afiric to my campaign on D&D Beyond thanks - https://ddb.ac/campaigns/join/13231792511242058 Looks like a fun and interesting group of PCs, if not exactly super robust, and hopefully with 2 healers now, they won't both drop in one round. >:) You should certainly be good at the social & sneaky sort of things at least!
Jake & Red if you can give me links to your preferred character portraits I'll get your tokens set up.
Hi both Yeah, think we need at least another attacker but, then again, like you say the current mix could lead to some interesting interactions! :)
Happy to roll a different character that would balance out the party based on your suggestions :)
I'd say stick with your current PCs and see how it goes, with smart play I think should be ok. And if you can make it to 2nd level you're home free. :D
Red M. said: Happy to roll a different character that would balance out the party based on your suggestions :) You're a Life Cleric so I think if you can just get hold of some heavy armour that would make a big difference, eg chainmail & shield isn't expensive and gives AC 18, 3 higher than current. You should probably all be on the lookout to optimise your ACs once you have the money, eg studded leather for the Rogues & Syrus would give them all +1 AC.

Thanks for the edit - happy I am still 10/10 @JAKE & RED: Welcome to the game! So happy to have more healers in the team - last time one at our first ever attack, two of us feel unconscious!! I failed my first saving throw (out of 3) and Thankfully Percy (Christian's PC) same to stablise me or I would have been a goner! :-P ...Looking forward to meeting everyone tomorrow :)

@Jake and Red - while staying at Cumin Inn on the King's Road, you heard the rumours of bandits lairing at Fort Skulnar to the south, and possibly a worse evil infesting the old fort. Planning to start you two just arrived at Fort Skulnar with a couple NPC adventurers, Lothrin of the Golden Thorn (Warrior) and Dawn Wintersmorn (Mage) who you met at Cumin Inn. @Both groups - you have just arrived at Fort Skulnar when you see four more adventurer types coming through the trees! :)

XP for tonight worked out as 52 each, so current tallies: Erasmus 130/300 Syrus 105/300 Percy 105/300 Sergor 52/300 XP is a bit lower due to having a large group, of course small groups tend to TPK more... >:)

Hello Everyone! Looking forward to seeing you all again tomorrow night. I learned about the below on Friday night and for a newbie like me, it makes everything much easier.... If any of you use Google Chrome as your web browser, do you know about the "D&D Beyond20 Chrome Extension" for your web browser...? Once you have downloaded this extension and added it, it syncs your character sheet with the Roll20 campaign beautifully - you can roll dice by clicking on your D&D Character Sheet (eg click on the weapon or spell you want to use, or the saving throw you want to roll) and the result links directly to the Roll20 chatbox. I was amazed how easy this made everything! ...just in case you are not aware of this, was so happy to have found it :)
Thanks Kenny - I was just at the pub with my friend Matt tonight and he mentioned some mysterious app that synced Roll20 with D&D Beyond! Sounds like this is it!
