yeah but bludgeoning do double damage to skeletons and Strohm see many times how effective it is against skeletons
WhiteValyrian said: yeah but bludgeoning do double damage to skeletons and Strohm see many times how effective it is against skeletons Might make sense to have a maul for that, guarantees a kill on every hit; but skeletons don't take extra damage from silver.
Pretty sure we all have magic weapons now, don't we?
Simon N. said: OOC: PCs (& Jyrdani) levelling up, rem to deduct 20gp for training expenses. That's Strohm Qiviel Jyrdani & Ted. Costs and training time will increase for level 5 PCs training to level 6, but I think that's a ways off even for Norrin. :) Norrin's not that far off; a few more epic battles like that and he'll be 6th. Unfortunately, he's now one of the more powerful warriors in southern Damara, so finding someone to train with without having to travel a long distance will be kind of difficult. Money-wise, he's starting to amass a small fortune which he'll probably have to spend on training. He's also promised to build a castle for Barbara and himself, and he intends to follow through on that. If the group is spending time in Rockwood Hold, Norrin will meet with Flint, going over maps and getting the lay of the land, who's who, where the local settlements are and the goods they produce, which monsters to watch out for. He's upset that they couldn't eradicate the orcs once and for all; a bloody nose is all well and good, but it does heal over time, and the recipient never forgets who gave it to him. " The orcs are easily startled, but they'll soon be back, and in greater numbers," he says. "Hopefully, the chieftain has learned his lesson and will steer clear of Rockwood Hold and go elsewhere. Unfortunately, that means we'll have to chase him down when he attacks another settlement and do it all over again." OOC: I'm okay with whatever the rest of the party decides; I suggest returning to D'Ashe manor and planning a foray to Thorfin Mine, and Norrin can have some "closed door meetings" with Barbara. ;) Strictly business, of course. OOC2: Just started playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla. One of the early missions was to participate in a raid on a rival king's stronghold. The character had to man the battering ram at the gates, with arrows raining down. I had flashbacks....
Patrolling down to Thorfin Mine, it remains abandoned by the Orcs. If you load up Roll20 you should see the local monster lairs. Giants and orcs have been laying waste to the farms around Malthlyn recently.

"I think we should send scouting missions there, to see what Khain is up to. Like I said, we bloodied his nose, but it's only a bloody nose. He'll be back. Maybe not tomorrow or next month, but he'll be back. At least with some scouting missions under our belt, we'll know what he's up to."
"I say Flint can handle it no problem with the orcs priestess and demon defeated the orcs wont be returning anytime soon so we should go back to D'Ashe Manor i need to help pick up Beverly at Tuls hut she is about to finish her training as a herbalist" *remembering the human wench in Malthlyn told by Flint Rockwood* "Norrin you always spouting that the south must stay united to face any upcoming threats might I suggest we help out your fellow humans at Malthlyn, other than owning a silver mine their precious farms are ransacked by giants, ogres and orcs. we cant let the innocents continue to suffer from these evil creatures I say we help them out"

We've done enough here for now. Flint's people can keep an eye on the orcs, and let us know how things fare. Our attention is required elsewhere, as you say."

@Simon, given that Erasmus is from Robden, would that fall under the Malthen Estate as the manor? And should Malthlyn therefore also be under the protection of that Estate, too? Also, would you mind setting up an IC thread for the current downtime, please? I don't know the dates. Thank you.

I edited the IC Rockwood Hall thread dates, use that one. Manor boundaries are on the map in red. Malthlyn is in Malthen manor. Robden was not in Malthen manor.
Dates are on blog too https://frloudwater.blogspot.com/2021/04/fa1-9-19101359-dr-fall-of-grizelda.html?showComment=1618806433053 Orc battle was 9/10/59, training to 5th completed 19/10/59. Well into autumn now, getting colder & wetter.

Assuming that we return to D'Ashe manor, Malied will spend his time as per usual, with his feet up by the fire and reading a book occasionally nodding off.
Wishing you all a Great game tonight - looking forward to rejoining next week :)
For the record, after tonight's session - 10gp each to Erasmus, Jyrdani, Malied, Qiviel, Strohm and Ted.

Aw man! According to the magical items listing, Jyrdani is getting swindled for that potion! X(
Bargaining is a thing. :D
Simon N. said: Bargaining is a thing. :D Yeah, but 20% discount sounds great when you don't realise the starting price has been inflated! And between us, we're only at a plus 1 for INT. Unless P-INS of 15 gets Erasmus anything, perhaps?
Ted will purchase all remaining healing potions and short rest. Sigh of relief
Matt said: Ted will purchase all remaining healing potions and short rest. Sigh of relief OK 9 potions at 50x9 = 450gp
In case you missed it Matt, Erasmus gave the shortbow and some arrows back to Ted after the battle of Rockwood.
Thank you Tim, Thank you Simon.
At the Abbey, Erasmus approaches Qiviel. "Jyrdani told me about your conversation. Thank you for your support with this matter, I can assure you the flat of your blade will not be needed. "If I may, I would seek your counsel, too? Jyrdani has expressed worry over my safety. Obviously, her wellbeing now comes before all else as far as I am concerned, but I understand and appreciate the sentiment. But what can I do? Unless I get involved in the thick of combat, I may as well not even be there. It's not as though I can simply armour up - if I wear even simple leathers, I am too restricted to be of any use and may actually be more of a liability. I admit, I have been saving up to acquire the reagents required for Fraener to manufacture me some magical bracers, but now I feel like my money is better spent elsewhere, such as building a home for this new family that has come so suddenly out of the blue. Any advice you can give would be gratefully received."

Any advice you can give would be gratefully received." Q considers the question, turning her helmet over in her hands. “Ultimately, my advice is just that: advice. My father always said that the only reason his marriage to my mother was successful was because he forced himself to remember she was capable of making decisions for herself and he never made any decision that affected her without her consent, no matter how much he thought himself doing what was best for her.” “You do not need to leave combat to try to keep yourself safe, but you do need to change some behaviours if her concern is that without her you will end up dead. Think: when are you most vulnerable, when do you need saving? When you end up separating yourself from the group or when you chase after retreating enemies? When you jump in first rather than relying on your allies? If those are her concerns, then my advice is to change your methods, not your involvement. Stay with the group or stay with those who are armoured, think twice before running off or jumping in first. You do not need to hide behind us but rely on the group to help keep you alive.” She sets her helmet on her lap. “In terms of armour and long term financial security, remember that you will earn no more money if you are dead, so armour is not a waste of money, it can also be sold, if you end up needing a consistent income without danger later, you can always teach or take up guard work, you don’t need to buy a house as long as you can afford to rent one with an income.” She looked him hard in the eye, “You are not the only adult in the relationship. Do not mistake yourself as the only responsible party. Jyrdani may well have a family home due to her or support from others that mean you save for naught. Best lay out all your assets together and decide how you aim to live under a variety of circumstances. Be reasonable adults about it.” Picking her helm up again, she adds, ”Of course, do that early because once the mood swings kick in and considering her rage, well, I may have pity on you after that.”
"Your words are wise, I will think on them. I will speak with Jyrdani as you advise and we will decide our best course of action, together. "I will try to remember to temper my enthusiasm. The problem is, when faced with a heavily armoured front plus one individual in just this," he pulls at his lapel to indicate his gi "which would you rather hit? "In terms of income, I can make things so I'm sure we will have sufficient money to live. It may be a meagre existence, but who needs riches when surrounded by those you love, eh? "I very much doubt that Jyrdani will want to return home. There are memories for her there which I am sure we would not wish to relive. I will, however, be sure to ask for her opinion." "Now... about these mood swings..."

After speaking with Qiviel, Erasmus takes some time in the chapel, ruminating on the events of the past few months. There is a sadness to him as he remembers his wife, lost but a few years ago. He thinks back to his time at the monastery, not alone, but lonely. He smiles to himself as he recalls the first time he met Syrus after striking out from the shelter of his home in order to find his new path in the world. His thoughts, unsurprisingly, settle on Jyrdani: The first time he laid eyes on the splendid specimen of womanhood and how wrong it felt to be admiring so superficially the vision before him; the occasions when her displays of might impress and excite him; the sight of her being injured in battle and the feeling of helplessness and despair at the thought of losing her; the kiss they shared, in this very abbey, while she was recuperating from her injuries after a particularly harrowing encounter; how confused he was that this young beauty could possibly have feelings for someone twice her age; the internal conflict as his feelings for Jyrdani matured from suppressed lust to something more, something meaningful, while still harbouring hope that Isawyn was not truly gone; the realisation that he must stop harbouring false hope for the past and instead look to his future and how much he wanted her to be a part of that; the passion they shared on that now fateful night nearly two months past; his surprise at the prospect of fathering a child, something he believed he was unable to do; and, finally, to her face when she said those three little words. "I love you." Three words that should be so easy to say, so why has it been so hard for Erasmus? Of course he feels it, he has done for months. But once it has been said, it's real. And now, will she think he's just saying it because of the baby? No matter. He should have told her already, but now he must. He steels his nerve and strides off to find Jyrdani.
OOC - Hello Gang! Hope you are all doing well. I won't be able to join you all tomorrow night but hoping to make the following Saturday. Have a fun session tomorrow! :)

Cheers Kenny Ted languishes in the Abbey stables playing his harmonica and running through the events of the last few days in his mind. It's a blur; he probably shouldn't have eaten quite so many mushrooms. Stinking and splattered with gore, some his own; damn goblins always make for a bad trip, thank Shargaas he made it to the Abbey. He must have been hallucinating badly to believe old Ras and Jyrdani are having a baby dude. Still, the nagging feeling he propositioned Abbess Mara won't go away, did he really say "nice legs, what time do they open?" and where the hell did this owlbear beak come from? "Hey dudes anyone wanna healing potion?"
I should be getting vaccinated this afternoon, dunno if will affect my GMing. :)
Simon N. said: I should be getting vaccinated this afternoon, dunno if will affect my GMing. :) My arm ached, but only the following day. Hope it goes well (I have heard some horror stories).
Had mine at Centre Court last week. Felt like a bad hangover the next day = hair of the dog. The cause is the remedy.
Good luck, Simon. Had both of mine now and no more than an achy arm both times.

Got mine last night. I started feeling sick on the way home after the shot, but then I realized I hadn't eaten in about 8 hours. A quick stop at the drive-thru solved that. I feel okay this morning, except for the imp that's been pounding on my arm all night.
XP from yesterday was 1125 each! Access to level 5 powers like Hypnotic Pattern makes PCs far more powerful so can beat powerful monsters > lots of XP.
Woo Hoo! Couple more sessions like that and Norrin will be Lvl6! And Erasmus isn't all that far behind now. :)

I wonder if there's any way Norrin and supplement his income by being the trainer instead of the trainee . As it is, he's one of the more powerful fighters in southern Damara, so finding someone to train him to become 6th might be a bit difficult.

Hey ! Looks like you guys went up against hill giants? If you happen to collect any fingernails or toenails from them, I can make potions of giant strength...
We have two currently lying around. There's another in a gorge we could probably get to, particularly if our rogue shows up. :)
Hmm, well mayhap you can give him a manicure and save 'em for later...maybe we'll run into each other ;-)
Unfortunately, I don't think any of us would think of doing that. Unless Qiviel remembers the nail in the potion she had...
