Trying to implement firearms

August 15 (5 years ago)

Okay, so my 5e game setting includes characters who are specifically made for use of weapons like rifles and pistols. Multiple sites have told me the Dungeon Master's Guide has the rules for such a thing, but as the DMG is not IN Roll20 yet (Why is this? That's one of the base books and should have been a priority.) is there some other way to implement firearms in my game that I'm simply not finding? Am I going to have to homebrew something? Please help!

I've been doing a rather extensive search and until/if wizards of the coast puts the DMG on roll20, we may be out of luck without homebrewing stuff. I don't mind personally keying out a musket or a pistol, but I have no idea how to make guns that can be drag/dropped onto the character sheets. I'm wondering if either of the Matt-Mercer Books have guns built into them because he made the Gunslinger class that sounds like its pretty big on D&D Beyond these days. Altering the text of a crossbow on the character sheet would likely work just fine, and keeping track of arrows could be used as bullets instead, but it would be nice if they'd just release the small handful of weapon in normal drag/drop mode one of these days.

One of the guys who have the pro account and do all the "ADVANCED-STUFF" may very well have a work around, and I'd love to hear about it, but alas, at this point, I'm making "NPCs" that are actually Ballista, Trebuchet and a Ram... They're big objects I give all players access to and if they have one or if they capture one, they can load, aim, fire... A cannon could work similarly, but items that are carried are a bit different...

Sorry I'm not a lot of help on this one, but its a shared frustration...
