Greetings, I have come to the forum because of a lack of option browsing the Join a Game section of the website. It isn't a surprise for any of you when I say that finding a table for something else then D&D is nearly impossible, especially if you take into account time zones and availability (I can find Shadowrun games but when they are run at 3AM my time, on a Monday, it gets problematic). So, in the hope of finding a group to play another game, I have come here. But let us remove any gray zone with that statement. First of all I have nothing against Dungeons & Dragons, whether it be 5th Edition or previous, I have a campaign I play bi-weekly and I'm still interested about the game and universe that goes along with it. I also have nothing against medieval fantasy, high fantasy, heroic fantasy or any other sword & sorcery setting. I'm just tired of both the system and the lack of option to discover new games, systems and universe. And don't get me wrong, I'm not saying Roll20 as a website doesn't provide those option, a ton of games are supported and with the variety of maps and tokens available in the marketplace, with imagination anything is virtually possible. But when it comes to new players who have no knowledge on the system their interested in and no GM (payed or nor) looking for players for those systems it is hard to discover them. Now, I could go and spend hours learning a system on my own, by myself, reading the rule books and watchhing videos on YouTube and then come back and GM my own game, and I've thought about doing it but, how I see tabletop RPGs, I see it as something to share, a way to connect and I can't wrap my head around the fact that noone here is capable of GM-ing something else than D&D, I know it isn't true and I'm sure there are benevolent and caring person willing to "teach" and showcase games they love to willing new players. It is why I am here, writting about generalities that everyone here are aware of in the hope of finding a groupe that is willing to recruit a complete new player to their group of Call of Chtulhu, ShadowRun, Starfinder, Apocalypse World System, Cyberpunk 2020, FATE, Warhammer 40K, Stars Without Number, Star Wars, Pokémon Tabletop United or any game you, as a GM think could be appealing to someone who's tired of the typical D20-Fantasy game. I'm also totally open to any criticism or advices from more experience players to discover new games and I'll be happy to discuss cordially with any one, so please feel free to DM me.
