As the header says, I am looking for a way other than typing directly into the Chat function to activate this script.  Anyone know?

I'm not familiar with that script, but you should just be able to put whatever you were typing into chat directly into a macro or ability with no additional hoops to jump through. It is common to call api scripts this way.
