10:30 pm The
party has just arrived outside of a Dwarven excavation site, after traveling
south west from Adabra’s place on Umbrage Hill, near an old Dwarven cemetery.
It was a 12 hour trek. The
canyon floor is strewn with rubble and bereft of vegetation except for a few
tough, scraggly weeds. The canyon’s rocky walls rise to a height of eighty
feet. At the end of the canyon, a twenty-foot-high wall of black stone has a
broken gate carved into it, with one stone door hanging precariously by a hinge
and the other door missing. Beyond this open gate, in the shadow of a great
mountain to the east, lies a ruined settlement. All is quiet. Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Looks like we maybe too late, they found out the
hard way" Dolores
looks around her for any signs of life Dolores, tries to dig into her
memory of the place but truly nothing is known as to what happened here or even
what the place was once called. Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "I wonder if they'd found something in their digs...
They must store their relics somewhere here. Unfortunately nobody is around to
answer that." Dolores inspects a bit of the
dusty rubble, looking underneath for signs of anything. Some bone fragments are
found but that is all. Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Yeah, if it wasn't a dragon, maybe they found
something bad" Willie had entered the remains of an abode and sees it contents
are long gone and only mountain debris and building rubble remain. Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Hm, perhaps we're not too late. They might have
already escaped from here." Says: "Could someone have already warned them before we
arrived?" Dolores moves to have a look at
an old well and sees that other than debris from the mountain there is nothing down
inside of it. Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "I don't think the dwarves left anything here." The party advances forward moving
past the settlement area and see: A
partially collapsed, ten-foot-high wall separates this courtyard from the
settlement west of it. Three heaps of rubble are piled high in this area. Hewn from
the canyon’s back wall, a thirty-foot-high temple facade features steps rising
to a stone platform. Cut into this facade is a ten-foot-high open doorway
flanked by crumbling, life-sized granite statues of cloaked dwarves. Evil grins
can be seen on their weatherworn faces. A
pillar of smoke and light from a glowing fire can be seen coming from behind
heap of rubble at the center of the courtyard. Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Lets check out this place" Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Yeah, we should press on. Only dust is waiting
here." As
the party moves forward Roqar spots 2 dwarves, a male and female, sitting by a
campfire and eating a meal of rations, on the opposite side of the center heap
of rubble. Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Hey Guys!! Found something!!" Roqar’s call out, startles the two dwarves a bit! Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Oh? They're still here..." Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Well met " Norbus Ironrune the Prospector Says: "Well Met Folks! What brings you here to this
crumbled old place?!" Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We came from Phandalin, they wanted us to warn you
about dragons in the area" Norbus Ironrune the Prospector Says: "I am Norbus Ironrune and this here is Dazlyn
Grayshard"
Says: "Aye, Dragons you say? I sure do hope they don't find
this place as it certainly could house a dragon willing to put some work into
it."
