Preferred Name: John (male, He/him) Age: 28 Location: Germany (so the time would work very well for me) Occupation: Machine Learning Engineer Hobbies: I like coming up with fictional settings, planning to write a book about them, then not doing so because my writing sucks :-). Short bio: I am a Machine Learning Engineer, currently on sabbatical to pursue my own research, so I have plenty of free time to play. I have played in many different groups of many different systems, but usually only one-shots, because there is a meetup for regular RPG one-shots where I live. I have also GM'd a few times. My playstyle is a mix of combat and roleplay, with a focus on creative problem solving. For me, roleplay does not mean talking in a different voice, but taking stock of my situation and really thinking about what my character would realistically do. (unless the smart thing to do would be boring / unfun for the group) Character Ideas: I would like to play a character who I invented as an NPC for one of my own settings, and who was very fun for me to control. She is a half-elf bard from the college of lore, so she is a versatile spellcaster. Her parents are high-level adventurers who became nobles (in a distant land, so they won't interfere with the plot). Her father is a wizard, her mother an assassin. As a result, she was born with a silver spoon in her mouth, but her family raised her to be self-sufficient. In fact, it is part of her religious beliefs to always train and keep improving yourself. She has systematically trained at a variety of skills to discover her talents. Her main talent lies in understanding people, hence her decision to become a bard and travel to world. Personality-wise, she is a curious and naturally nice person, but she can also be pragmatically ruthless when necessary, due to being raised by an ends-justify-the-means assassin. She sometimes has unrealistic expectations about how the world works, because her parents are far from being ordinary people. Gameplay-wise, she is a skill-monkey with a focus on social skills. Her magic abilities are varied, with a focus on utility, buffing, and mind-affecting spells rather than direct damage or defense.
