Double entries from the MonsterManual and tokens not showing stat blocks

Hi, maybe I am completely confused here but I think in the past I could search for an entry of the MonsterManual which I bought in the compendium and then drag that entry from the search results on to the vtt so that I see a token there. When I double clicked that token I imagine seeing the stat blocks. Now what I see now is that a) a lot of entries from the Monster Manual show up twice in the compendium (e.g. if I search for Rug of Smother, it lists it twice, both times showing the MM icon next to it). If I then drag that over to the vtt it opens the description with the stat block but doesn't add a token to the vtt. However after I do that, it then also shows up in the character list of my game (only after I dragged it to the vtt) and I can drag it out from there again to create a token. If I then double click that token I don't see the stats block but instead I see the token config with HP etc. The tabs in the top also don't contain the stats. Is there a simpler way to set this up so I can search for a monster, drag it on the vtt and then be able to quickly access its stats when the players start to fight it? And what's up with the double entries? —Michael
I searched the same and yes there is a double entry for the Rug. But if i drag and drop onto the VTT, it shows up the token. fast was for Sheet info of a Token, as long as its linked, is hold Shift+Double Left Click  on the token. It'll pop up the sheet.

If you are still having problems, screen shots would help a lot in diagnosing what's going on.
Shift+Double Left Click results in the same than just a double click on a token for me. (I am on a Mac, maybe the shortcuts are different there?) Below is a screenshot of what I see. The left pane is what I get when I double click a token of a Thug, the right one is when I click the Thug in the Compendium. Basically when I first drag the Thug from the Compendium into the VTT it just copies the entry of the Thug into the Journal, but only the Traits and Actions paragraphs, not any of the attributes. I then have to drag the Thug from the Journal onto the VTT in order to actually get the token on the VTT.

If you scroll up on (on your image on the left), you should see 3 tabs above the thug image.  What you are looking at should be the Bio & Info tab, then there is the Character Sheet tab and the Attributes & Abilities tab.  Shift + double click opens the Bio tab, so that is expected behavior.  Just click on one of the other tabs to see them.  You can open the journal/sheet on the Character Sheet tab by doing Alt + double click on the token.
Not really. I have two tabs and the attributes and ability tab is completely empty.

Which character sheet are you using in your game?

Sr. K's question above ^^^ and also, you'll get some screwy behaviour if you drag an NPC into your game if that NPC already exists. If you start a blank campaign, do you still get the same problem dragging (for example) a goblin onto the canvas - alt-double clicking the token should open straight to the character sheet.
Ah! The character sheet was it. I hadn't selected one because my players use dndbeyond for the character sheet. I wasn't aware that the stat blocks also aren't copied if the character sheet is not selected in the game settings! After I set that to D&D 5e, monsters that aren't in the Journal yet are created correctly, with the stat block! Thanks a lot! I guess I have some token deletion and recreation to do now... :D
