The roaring waterfall creates a cloud of mist as it plunges into a shallow pool of water, within which rise two small islands covered with two-foot-tall red, green, and purple mushrooms. Several cave openings overlook the pool from rocky ledges twenty to thirty feet above. The mountain blocks any sunlight from reaching this place.   Dolores: what kind of mushrooms are these   Roqar: Are they magic?
Galdor the Dwarf Cleric "Guys, this looks like a trap!", Galdor whispers to the group as he points to the islands and to the cave openings   Dungeon Master (GM): you need to cast a detect magic on them to find out oh geez i forgot sildar!   Roqar: or just eat a piece   Dolores: ^ after you   Dungeon Master (GM): do you want him with the party now anyways?   Roqar: sure meat shield   Dungeon Master (GM): alright   Roqar the Elf Rogue Cuts off a piece of the purple mushroom and eats it   Willie Belson: get higher than the price of toliet paper   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Did you just..."   Galdor Brawnanvil: guys, you ain't even near the mushrooms   Dungeon Master (GM): the mushrooms here average 2 feet in height, you have to cross a 3 ft deep pool to get to the mushrooms the islands are shrouded in mist from the fall red, green and purple in color the mushrooms are   Roqar: A bit too close to the falls for me   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Guys, if you want to do anything with those mushrooms, or even go close, at least cover your mouth and nose"   Dolores dips her hand into the pool to check the water temperature   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "So that you don't breathe anything in"   Dungeon Master (GM): The water is warm to the touch. The mushroom tasted pleasant   Galdor Brawnanvil: ?   Dungeon Master (GM): no magical effect from eatting the mushrooms members of the party tasted the waterfall up ahead plunges 60 ft down   Roqar: 15 | 12 PERCEPTION  (1) Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): which roars in this area enhanced by echos   Roqar: checking the rope bridge   Dungeon Master (GM): there is a pathway near Galdor which goes 30 ft up to an opening here.   Galdor Brawnanvil: I go up the pathway   Dungeon Master (GM): the rest of you would have to climb to get where you are   Galdor Brawnanvil: seeeing as no other cave entrances have a pathway leading to them   Dungeon Master (GM): the cave entrance where Galdor is is 7 ft high   Willie Belson: cool   Roqar the Elf Rogue looks over the entrance for any markings 19 | 12 PERCEPTION  (1) Roqar   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Isn't this a bit too tall for dwarf children?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Also, shouldn't we stay as a group instead of splitting up?"     Dolores: Is there anyone around us?   Willie Belson: good idea   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you entered a dining area, there are several tables and chairs sized for gnomes. There is a stout wooden cabinet against the east wall. no gnomes around where you are   Dolores: does it look like someone ate here recently   Willie Belson: 13 | 10 STEALTH  (7) Willie Belson   Dungeon Master (GM): No it does not but there are plate setting on the table, ready for a meal. There are hanging oil lanterns throughout the place giving light. The lanterns are attached to a rope and pulley. Willie comes to a door   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "They must be around..."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Looks upwards for any nets or other traps   Willie Belson: 15 | 24 INVESTIGATION  (4) Willie Belson   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Why exactly would there be a 7 foot entrance for dwarven children"   Roqar: 12 | 8 PERCEPTION  (1) Roqar   Galdor Brawnanvil: 24 PERCEPTION  (5) Galdor Brawnanvil   Dungeon Master (GM): no traps around
Galdor Brawnanvil: so, what can Willie see? with his investigation roll as well   Dungeon Master (GM): just a wooden door fitted with rusty iron handles and hinges   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "No offense to Galdor or any one else, but, most Dwarves and Gnomes build doors and columns taller then they are"   Willie Belson: I want to open the door   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "That is a blatant lie, dwarven children would most definitely build doors of their own size, so that they would be capable of hiding"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "In their own, little holes"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok and you see into a kitchen area: A female gnome uses a poker to stoke the fire of a hot iron stove standing against the east wall.   A male gnome uses a complicated press-like contraption to squeeze oil out of a big red mushroom and filter the liquid into four oil flasks.   A female gnome stands atop a low table and uses a mechanical rolling pin contraption to kneed green bread dough. The severed caps of several big green mushrooms are set around her.   A male gnome forms the dough into loaves of green bread, his tongue sticking out as he carefully shapes each loaf like a master sculptor.   A female gnome teeters on a stool as she stuffs a big purple mushroom into a barrel, so that it can ferment and be turned into mushroom wine. and so thus it appears you walk into a kitchen   Willie Belson: I say hey baby I am Rick James, LoL.   Dolores: (what was the gnomengarde quest again)   Dungeon Master (GM): Oh here is your mission: Gnomengarde: “A clan of reclusive rock gnomes resides in a small network of caves in the mountains to the southeast. The gnomes of Gnomengarde are known for their magical inventions, and they might have something with which to defeat the dragon. Get whatever you can from them. If you bring back something useful and don't want to keep it for yourselves, Townmaster Harbin Wester will pay you 50 gp for it.”   Dungeon Master (GM): the gnomes all pause to look at whom said, the rick james line   Galdor Brawnanvil: or even the slightest advantage   Joybell the Gnome Cook Says: "Say what? Oh Rick you are? How May I help you? are you guest someone is expecting?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric "We are terribly sorry for our acquaintance here, dwarven children", Galdor says as he gestures towards Willie   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "So Did you people make these wonderful caves?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue gives a side eye to the Dwarf   Tervaround the Gnome Cook Says: "Oh yes, our ancestors carved out this place."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric "Carving is not making", Galdor whispered to Roqar   Dolores: is there anything here   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric "People can't be precise when carving, unlike forging and stonecarving"   Dungeon Master (GM): yes dolores is in another passage   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Yes, there is a difference between the two"   Dolores: (im going down this rabbit hole)   Galdor Brawnanvil: you should most propably stay with us -._.-   Dolores: bye   Galdor Brawnanvil: :D that decision to go further backfired rather quickly, didn't it?   Dungeon Master (GM): what Dolores saw in that room: Parked in alcoves in this otherwise empty room are two gnomish contraptions. Each resembles a crab with a barrel for a shell, six articulated metal legs, and a pair of forward-facing pincer claws.   Dolores: (omg they scared me)   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Carving, making, freakin somantics, their ancestors dug the caves out, what ever"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Dolores, what made you run in here so quickly?"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Nothing in particular..."   Willie Belson: they are tunnel makers i think   Galdor Brawnanvil: does your character know that ? :p   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Are you suuure? Since all I saw was you running in here scared for your life" Says: "Couldn't have been a dwarven child, what was it actually?"   Roqar: (Not with pincer claws I doubt it) more like Ripley fighting the Alien Queen machine hehe   Dungeon Master (GM): there are stairs going up where Willie and Roqar are   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Come ooon, tell us! We'll defend you from whatever you are scared of"   Dungeon Master (GM): not seeing you all as a threat they go back to their work   Galdor Brawnanvil: they are most propably more confused with us than threatened   Tervaround the Gnome Cook Says: "We are sort of busy here, so maybe if you found Fibblestib or Dabbledob they can talk to you and help."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Thank you, telling us their appearance would most definitely help us more"
Says: "What is your name by the way, dwarven child?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Hey Gnomes, u, Could we meet with who ever is your leader here? We want to find out more about this place"   Uppendown the Gnome Cook Says: "Oh, our leaders, uhhmm well, they are busy at the moment."   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Busy?"   Uppendown the Gnome Cook Says: "Uhmm, well i'd rather not talk about it, you see."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Maybe we can help them"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "May I ask you of something else? Do you have any smiths around? If so, where?" Says: "I'm a little bit of a smith myself and I would want to meet them"   Tervaround the Gnome Cook Says: "yea, uhmm...they are preoccupied at the moment."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "The smiths or the leaders?"   Tervaround the Gnome Cook Says: "Our Kings, Korboz and Gnerkli"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Then I'm sure our party shouldn't even try to disturb them"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "You have two kings?"   Tervaround the Gnome Cook Says: "so yea, Fibblestib or Dabbledob could be of some help for you."   Panana the Gnome Cook Says: "Yes, yes, two Kings they are."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Where are Fibblestib and Dabbledob right now? If you have any idea of their current location, that is"   Dimble the Gnome Cook Says: "They are likely in the workshop on the other side of here, over the bridge, tinkering with something, Is my best guess."   Joybell the Gnome Cook Says: "Yea, You'll need to cross over the rope bridge to get to the other side."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Could you take us to them? Its important we talk with them soon"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Might I ask where these side-paths lead off to?" Says: "So that we don't walk into off-limits territory"   Dolores looks behind her into the doorway every few seconds   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "What are you doing Dolores? At least tell us what got you so scared"   Dolores refuses to say anything   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Yes, Tell us, so that we know what scared you and can tease you about it"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "I-im not scared!"   Panana the Gnome Cook Says: "We're a bit busy here but just basically folow the passages south until you reach a third chamber, where you will see a couple guards, Ulla & Pog, the bridge is just west off where they are."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "If anything like that happens, I'll deal with Roqar myself"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Just watching our backs."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Oh... Thank you for all the help then, dwarf children"   Tervaround the Gnome Cook Says: "Those stairs go up to a pantry there."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Rolls her eyes sighs   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor says as he starts to leave   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, as Galdor makes his way down he comes to a chamber where he sees a female gnome upon a contraption that looks like a platform with 4 crossbows. she is sitting 6 ft above the crossbows in a chair with peddles there are also levers near her that she could use   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric "Oi, oi, oi! Me and my mates here talked to your kitchen staff, that told us to talk to Fibblestib and Dabbledob, since your kings are currently preoccupied", he says with his hands above his head   Says: "They told us to go continue south from the kitchen and to then cross the bridge"   Dungeon Master (GM): she spots Galdor and immediately lets loose a bolt at him   Galdor Brawnanvil: umm   Dungeon Master (GM): rolling 1d20( 4 ) = 4 which embeds into the rock to his left side   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "OI, PLEASE STOP SHOOTING!"   Dolores: (can we hear the yelling from here)   Galdor Brawnanvil: you could've gone with me
Facktoré the Gnome Weaponsmith Says: "Begone… I'm… busy here!"   the roar of the waterfall makes it difficult to hear   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Can we just pass?"   Facktoré the Gnome Weaponsmith Says: "No!"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Are we supposed to cross the bridge first perhaps?"   Dolores: is it dark in this room   Dungeon Master (GM): No it has oil lanterns hanging around   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We have to talk to Fibblestib and Dabbledob, it's a matter of urgency" they told us to go south then cross the bridge to the other side   Facktoré the Gnome Weaponsmith Says: "Urgency... smergency… maybe… some other time… i'm busy… go away."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "You are making yourself busier by not letting us pass" Says: "We literally just need to get to the either of them" Says: "Us having to damage your ledges by having to climb wouldn't really be appreciated, I'm sure"   Galdor Brawnanvil: fckin' I need someone with high charisma over here   Facktoré the Gnome Weaponsmith Says: "Whatever… you…  are… not… getting… anywhere… near… me!"   Dungeon Master (GM): Does roqar show herself?   Galdor Brawnanvil: you could be considered a threat since there would be more of us aggravating the gnome   Roqar the Elf Rogue Peeks around the coner "How about if we paid you to let us go by?"   Dungeon Master (GM): [I am assume that gildor is shouting off to the side to avoid another bolt   Galdor Brawnanvil: yes   Facktoré the Gnome Weaponsmith Let's loose another bolt that embeds into the left side wall   Dolores: Dolores sees Galdor huddled to the wall   Facktoré the Gnome Weaponsmith Says: "No… one… is… getting… near… me… period!"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "What if I joined your smithy, seeing as you people are genuises in tinkering. That alone would be quite a sight to behold, if mixed with my dwarven smithing"   Says: "What if we go outside, let you go somewhere else and we'll pass" Says: "Therefore we wouldn't be getting any nearer to you"   Facktoré the Gnome Weaponsmith Says: "Maybe…some other time…but sure not now!" Says: "No… I'm… staying… here!"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor starts heading off Slipping past Roqar   Dungeon Master (GM): galdor would have to climb up 20 ft   Galdor Brawnanvil: May I attempt to climb this ledge?   Roqar the Elf Rogue Whispers to Galdor "How about you cast some kind of spell on her? so that we can get by?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Haven't got any" So, may I attempt the climb?   Dungeon Master (GM): certainly   Galdor Brawnanvil: 7 ATHLETICS  (2) Galdor Brawnanvil fuck   Roqar: 15 | 21 ACROBATICS  (4) Roqar   Galdor Brawnanvil: acrobatics is getting down   Dungeon Master (GM): ok it's to steep for him to get a hold to climb up   Galdor Brawnanvil: athletics is going up   Dungeon Master (GM): on the other hand roqar climbs up   Roqar: at normal speed   Galdor Brawnanvil: aaa Okay   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Could you lend the dwarf a hand?"   Dungeon Master (GM): [or some rope if she has it]   Roqar the Elf Rogue pulls out a rope lets one end down, bracing herself   Dungeon Master (GM): dex check this time to see if you get up there   Galdor Brawnanvil: 8 ACROBATICS  (-1) Galdor Brawnanvil   Dungeon Master (GM): uhmm, I say nope
Galdor Brawnanvil: hmm I may try something   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor wraps the rope around his shield, using it as a stepping stone, before trying to climb up with the help of the rope yet again   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "What are you guys doing out here?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "If you want to potentially anger gnomes, go further, get yourself shot" so may I try to pull myself up again?   Dungeon Master (GM): yes go ahead   Roqar the Elf Rogue The Gnomish Bitch wont let us go by, so we're doing it the hard way   Galdor Brawnanvil: 12 ATHLETICS  (2) Galdor Brawnanvil should be with less weight as well   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Perhaps I can grab her attention from this side. Give me a signal when you're ready!"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you climb up   Galdor Brawnanvil: Nice   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Can you please pull up my shield"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Pulls up the shield repacks her rope   Dungeon Master (GM): there are steps going up   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor grabs the shield, thanking the elf: "Thanks, Elf"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We're better off going this way, less chance of getting shot"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Dolores, could you get the attention of the rest of the party?" Says: "So that we can pull them all up here?"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Come on up, if you can?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We should wait on the others, pull them up and then proceed" Says: "So that no crossbow shenanigans happen again"   Dolores: i intend on casting silent image to distract her   Dungeon Master (GM): oh ok, Dolores   Galdor Brawnanvil: why would ya distract her when we can just go past   Dolores: true but i cant climb can i?   Galdor Brawnanvil: we will pull you up along with the others   Dolores: ok i ask them to come   Dungeon Master (GM): Roqar and galdor can pull everyone up that ties the rope to them, so if you slip they just hold on and pull   Galdor Brawnanvil: pretty much and once someone gets pulled up they can help as well   Dungeon Master (GM): It's only 20 ft so everyone eventually gets up there.   Galdor Brawnanvil: so what's the single-file order so that we can progress normally prolly me in the front, right? since I am the most heavily-armored and tanky character in our party unless a rogue wants to go ahead and check for traps, etc.   Roqar: Or me? to find any traps?   Galdor Brawnanvil: to be honest anyone could check for traps it's just that rogues would be the most adept at disarming them   Roqar: (Played a Pixie Sorcerer in a game she would fly over traps and point them out haha Rogue would get POed   Galdor Brawnanvil: yep so am I in the front, you directly behind me with one of the orcs at the end, so they defend the back and the "squishies" in the middle?   Dungeon Master (GM): and the rest are as they appear in the line behind you both   Galdor Brawnanvil: oh okay then so umm   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "This looks like an alcohol storage" Says: "It will most probably contain the mushroom wine"   Dungeon Master (GM): What Galdor sees: This room contains twelve forty-gallon barrels set into wide alcoves. Each barrel is secured by a wooden brace. The barrels in the south alcove have been tapped with wooden spigots.   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Let's head further south instead of investigating this"   Willie the Elf Ranger Says: "Wonder if that shroom wine is any good?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "You might get to try it later" Says: "anyways"
Dungeon Master (GM): Mist from the waterfall dampens this empty cave, which has a 10-foot-high ledge overlooking it to the south.   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Oh.. someone's up here..."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Hello you two! The last gnome we saw tried to shoot us, even though the kitchen staff told us to go south"   Dungeon Master (GM): a female gnome on the ledge shouts something to you...does anyone know gnomish?   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Crossing his fingers, whispering to himself: "Please no more attacks, please no more attacks"   Dungeon Master (GM): anyways the other one, a male says   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Who goes there?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "A party of seven members, wishing to talk to Fibblestib and Dabbledob"   Galdor Brawnanvil: Pretty much   Galdor Brawnanvil: depends   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, after Galdor said what he said the two talk among themselves looking away from the party for a moment then turn to face you again   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "We need to talk to them"     Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Ah, you wish to speak to Fibblestib or Dabbledob. I see and even though there are seven of you, still, we need proof that you are whom you say to be."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "What exactly do you mean by that? We had to climb a ledge, just to be able to pass your crossbow tower up north"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "You see...we believe there to be a shapechanger amongst our midst here, which is harming us."   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Huh... that makes sense... I was about to ask why the paranoia." Says: "Although people in the kitchen didn't seem to be bothered about us..."   [Note: That is weird, though perhaps, only the ‘higher ups’ know what has been going on and they didn’t tell everyone. The kitchen description does not mention any of them as paranoid.]   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Ah, Facktore, oh yes, she is quiet paranoid right now, sorry for that."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "No offense taken"   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "You need us to prick our fingers or something? Show that bleed the right colors?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Or we could actually just show what we are capable of"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Ah, That's good then, their pre-occupation with getting a meal ready has calmed their nerves a bit then."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Do you have anything you need help with? Aside from the shapechanger?"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Well, i'm sure the shapechanger would bleed as well." Says: "Nothing that I can think of...just the to rid of the troublesome shapechanger."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "In all honesty, we could do it in a simple way"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Might help calm King Korboz down for sure and Facktore"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "You should get everyone in one room" Says: "We will go and investigate the rest of this place, if we spot anyone, we will bring them back to the group" Says: "If there are any clones, you already know what happened"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "But first someone should calm that crossbow gnome down"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Then what? wait to see whom the shapechanger takes a bit out of, once everyone starts getting hungry?"   Galdor Brawnanvil: just because someone is cranky, it doesn't mean they are evil   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Ulla & I have tried to calm Facktore down, to no avail."   Galdor Brawnanvil: my dwarf just thinks of Gnomes and Halflings as Dwarven Children   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "she won't let anyone near her."   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "Thats what I wanna know also" Says: "So we gather them together, then what?"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "How long did you all suspect that a shapeshifter was in your midst?"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "You are free to Investigate around Gnomengarde but if we hear of trouble from you, we will deal with you."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We, as a party, explore the rest of this place, trying to find anyone that didn't show up"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "It's been a tenday since Orryn and warryn disappeared. Then it was almost King Korboz that almost got eaten. King Korboz claimed a rug has tried to eat him!”   Galdor Brawnanvil: aww
Galdor Brawnanvil: 21 INSIGHT  (7) Galdor Brawnanvil   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Shapeshifter can turn into an object perhaps? (thinking aloud)"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "That was in the throne room."   Galdor Brawnanvil: I'm trying to see if they are lying   Dungeon Master (GM): ok you do not get any hint of a lie from them   Galdor Brawnanvil: hmm I wonder what to do   Roqar the Elf Rogue Says: "So these probs actually started some time ago"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "What were your names again?"   Dungeon Master (GM): any other party members on an idea of what to do?   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We could always do the simple things, like cutting or shaving off hair, cutting toenails"   Dolores: look around a bit more maybe   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "I am Pog, and this here is Ulla, pardon that she speaks very little common, but is learning."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Since shapechangers and shapeshifters can't exactly recreate those" Says: "Once it's cut off, it usually changes into it's original form"   Roqar: Investigate every room, check everything see if it attacks us hehe let them have their meal solve the mystery scoobies hehe   Dolores: can i cast detect thoughts on them i mean on myself   Dungeon Master (GM): sure if you have it, of course   Galdor Brawnanvil: may I roll History, to see if I know anything else about shapeshifters/shapechangers   Dolores: Detect Thoughts abjuration 2 Casting Time:  1 action Range:  Self Target:  Self Components:  V, S, M (A copper piece) Duration:  Concentration Up to 1 minute For the duration, you can read the thoughts of certain creatures. When you cast the spell and as your action on each turn until the spell ends, you can focus your mind on any one creature that you can see within 30 feet of you. If the creature you choose has an Intelligence of 3 or lower or doesn’t speak any language, the creature is unaffected. You initially learn the surface thoughts of the creature—what is most on its mind in that moment. As an action, you can either shift your attention to another creature’s thoughts or attempt to probe deeper into the same creature’s mind. If you probe deeper, the target must make a Wisdom saving throw. If it fails, you gain insight into its reasoning (if any), its emotional state, and something that looms large in its mind (such as something it worries over, loves, or hates). If it succeeds, the spell ends. Either way, the target knows that you are probing into its mind, and unless you shift your attention to another creature’s thoughts, the creature can use its action on its turn to make an Intelligence check contested by your Intelligence check; if it succeeds, the spell ends. Questions verbally directed at the target creature naturally shape the course of its thoughts, so this spell is particularly effective as part of an interrogation. You can also use this spell to detect the presence of thinking creatures you can’t see. When you cast the spell or as your action during the duration, you can search for thoughts within 30 feet of you. The spell can penetrate barriers, but 2 feet of rock, 2 inches of any metal other than lead, or a thin sheet of lead blocks you. You can’t detect a creature with an Intelligence of 3 or lower or one that doesn’t speak any language. Once you detect the presence of a creature in this way, you can read its thoughts for the rest of the duration as described above, even if you can’t see it, but it must still be within range. SPELL SLOT LEVEL 22 OF 3 REMAINING   Dolores: ok i did not see that coming   Dungeon Master (GM): Yes you could roll that   Galdor Brawnanvil: 9 HISTORY  (4) Galdor Brawnanvil fuck I propably know a little to nothing more about them   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Question to you both, who do you think the shapeshifter is?"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok they would see you starting to cast a spell, do you say anything that may calm them enough to not fire anything at the caster?   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Well, it was last a rug, it could be anything else now"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "I have no idea what species it could be"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Don't mind me here, I'm not going to hurt you."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "You know what?"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "I'll go with you, show me all objects around here, I'll make one tear or hole into them and patch it right up"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "ok, but i warn you i will retalate if you attack"   Dolores: (do i read their thoughts when I asked that question)   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "I can easily mend things with my magic, so damaging an object once and then repairing that damage should be fine for me"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "We can not leave our post until we are releaved" Says: "I see"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "What I said before about creatures and hair, fur, nails applies outside of the object checking" Says: "May I walk up to you and cut off a bit of your hair?" Says: "Just a tiny bit"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "you need to come up the passage to the east here to get up here."
Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor does so woah   Dolores: What surface thoughts did I detect in both of them?   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Can you tell your friend about what I'm going to do"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Yes" , and he does so   Galdor Brawnanvil: also what did Dolores get out of her detection thing   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Galdor proceeds to cut off a bit of their hair, just the tip from a few strands around the ear   Dungeon Master (GM): ok surface thoughts reveal suspicion of the party as having a shapchanger in their midst   Galdor Brawnanvil: why is he so far in the back   Dolores: so both of them think that we might be shapeshifters?   Galdor Brawnanvil: pretty muchz much   Dungeon Master (GM): yes dolores   Galdor Brawnanvil: they said so before   Dolores: if that's so then they're probably not shapeshifters   Galdor Brawnanvil: most propably I still go through with the check   Dungeon Master (GM): [on each member of the party and in front of Pog & Ulla?]\   Galdor Brawnanvil: first, the two gnomes then I'll go and perform the check on the party   Dungeon Master (GM): yes and you cut their hair without a problem neither winches in pain and tries to attack   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "You two are fine" Says: "Oi, guys! Can you come here?!" Galdor performs the exact same check on the party   Dungeon Master (GM): ok and Pog & Ulla witnesses it all.   Galdor Brawnanvil: did anything happen?   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Maybe we all should stick together and test others?" Says: "But it's gonna be difficult to get past that crossbow room"   Sildar the Human Fighter Says: "Hmm, ok, seems no one winched in pain from the haircutting. So perhaps you are all ok then."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We would be better off, if one gnome stayed here with a couple of us" Says: "This room would then be guarded from entry, along with us not being attacked by a crossbow maniac"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "What if one of the gnomes comes with us, and one of us stays here." Says: "So other gnomes wouldnt see us as a threat."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "Literally what I said, but it would be better if more than one of us stayed here"   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "I think one of us would do"   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "Just cross the bridge and see if you can find Fibblestib and Dabbledob, they should likely be in the inventor's workshop"   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "We would have to worry less about this room and our party" Says: "Since we would be piling up bodies, if something bad happened to us as a group"   Dolores: (by the way why are there two XarTharkases)   Galdor Brawnanvil: one is a time echo duh jk, I also don't know   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, one is Xar's Time Echo which is him at a different point in time   Dolores: i see   Dungeon Master (GM): it's not activated right now so you would not see him Ok, looks like a good place to stop for the day and we can continue once the group decides where to head off to next.   Dolores the Human Wizard Says: "Pog could come with us and Xar could stay here with the gnome to keep an eye out for the shapeshifter and test." alright   Galdor Brawnanvil: yeah   Pog the Gnome Guard Says: "I'm sorry but we can not do that. Just go find either of the two, I had mentioned, they should be helpful."   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "One of us should still stay here, to make this a completely blocked off point"   Klona: alright, i'm going to go now   Dungeon Master (GM): ok, something to decide on whom that will be for next week.   Klona: cya all next week   Galdor the Dwarf Cleric Says: "The rest of us should go and investigate the barrels, then the mushrooms and the kitchen"   Dungeon Master (GM): ok guys Thank you all for playing today!   Galdor Brawnanvil: yeah, thanks as well was kinda fun bye
