i have wrestled with you tube and facebook for hours this is a mad mechnic. sort this out. i should be able to easily import and ad my character into roll20 without a compter degree. very frustrated The language on import/export character sheets is indeed a bit confusing in how it's used, but it is at least described on the Help Center Page . I'll update the Community Wiki guide/page for Character Vault after finishing this reply. Few notes(that hopefully addresses your concern): If your GM is not a Plus/Pro member, you can't import you character sheet from your Character Vault . GMs need to manually assign imported character sheets to the players for them to have access to it, so if you managed to import a character to the game, you can't see before your GM gives you access. Players can't adding a new character sheet to themselves, GMs need to create the sheet and give the players access to it. How it's talked about in the documentation: Importing a character sheet means importing/ saving a character to your Character Vault . Exporting a character sheet means exporting a character sheet from your Vault into a game . If you're importing a character to your vault (This is always available for free & paying users.) Go to your Character Vault page. Press the blue "Import Existing Character" -button in the top left corner. From the dropdown, select the game, and then the character you want to import to your Vault. Press Import Character. ( Note: you can only import characters you have direct control over in that game, so if you're a player in that game, you can only save to you Vault the characters the GM have given you editing access to, usually only your own character) The character is now saved into your Character Vault If you're exporting a character from your vault to a game Note: Exporting a character to a game is only accessible if: 1) the Game Creator is a Plus/Pro user, or the game is based on a module that enables "Full Vault Access" and 2) , they have enabled "Importing Characters" in the game setting. So a free user can save save as many character sheet to their vault as they want, but can only export them to games meeting these conditions. Go to your Character Vault page. Scroll down to the character you want to export From the dropdown on the left side of the character, select the game you want to export it to, and press "Export To Game". After a few seconds it should have been exported, displaying "The character has been successfully exported." above the dropdown menu. Note: Exporting a character to a game doesn't automatically grant you access to the character in that game , the GM must manually assign it to you if you're just a player in that game. Players can't create or assign character sheets to themselves, only GMs can do that.
